4 league wins in a row against Newcastle United now.

Have we beaten anyone that amount of times consecutively in the Premier league before?

Swansea definitely.

2-0 (H) April 2015

3-0 (A) December 2015

4-0 (H) April 2016

2-1 (H) August 2016

Writing it down, not winning that last game 5-0 really annoys me.

Puel has more won points in his 1st 8 games than Ranieri did.

If that's true, that is excellent stattage. I suppose it took a few games for Claudio to plug our defence by swapping DeLaet and Schlupp for Simpson and Fuchs.

I know it's blasphemy to say so, but we were so jammy in 2015/2016 to hit form when everyone else was off their game.

We've just had one of our best ever runs in this league, and Burnley and Man City are still in as good and better form than we are.

  • Five of Riyad Mahrez's last eight Premier League goals have been from outside the box - his previous 21 were all scored from inside the box.

Well, if all the opposing teams like giving him the time and space to shoot from that far out, like Southampton did today, then we can expect a few more like that, I hope :D

Ranieri's 1st 8

Sunderland, 4-2

West Ham, 2-1

Spurs, 1-1

Bournemouth, 1-1

Aston Villa, 3-2

Stoke 2-2

Arsenal, 1-2

Norwich, 2-1

Puel's 1st 8

Everton, 2-1

Stoke, 2-2

Man City 0-2

West Ham, 1-1

Spurs, 2-1

Burnley, 1-0

Newcastle, 3-2

Southampton, 1-4

Could be more aswell if we'd held on to lead against Stoke and West Ham

Shinji has more goals this season (6) than he got in the whole of 2015/16 (5), in almost a third of the game time (713 vs 2074). He also has an assist this season.

More Shinji smiles, more happiness for everyone.

Just Proves hes a lazy bastard..  Cant be bothered to run anymore...!!!

Seriously though, hes had some dazzling, amazing runs at the oppo, in both those periods,

this season especially, hes covered some ground, often from just in front of our own penalty area,

like Gray, hes hsd some wizzard runs fom deep, either scoring themselves or just tremendous assists.

Add their and Vardys crossing,   is reminicent of

1) Lynex, Lineker, Smith , seasons

2) Weller, Glover, Worthington , Farrington era.

3 ) Goodfellow/sinclair , Gibson, Stringfellow Moments.

Could be argued even better, across the board.

Weller -Mahrez comparisons are getting close,

It might be a wrench for me, but if Mahrez actually completes this Full  season, on this present high....

Mmmmm  it could tip the scales.

One thing Keith had in his locker, his performances when defending were excellent , ....plus the best own goal ever..

Missed that! Took Claudio 10 matches to get a clean sheet, even with the promise of a pizza. Took Claude 1 match. Presumably with the promise of enforced frogs legs if they didn't.

First four goal away win in the Premier League since..

In both games the home fans left en masse after the fourth goal. Last night after 70 minutes, back then after 15.

Outside the big six, only two players as of matchday 17 are on course to score 15 league goals this season: Wayne Rooney (9) and Jamie Vardy (7).

Read into it any way you want, but I found it worthy of aimless philosophical ponder that it's those two names at this point in time of season 2017-18.

Ndidi has still made more tackles than anyone else in the Premier League this season (74).  The next highest is 63.

Maguire has got four assists already this season.  Only a dozen players in the Premier League have got more, and only one of them is a defender (Azpilicueta with 5)

But no team has conceded more goals from set pieces than us (10, of which 8 have been away)

That is insane from a centre back.

Vardy hasn't scored in the last half hour of a league match to affect its result since the title winning season.

In 2015-16 Vardy scored a load of late goals that made a difference to the result of league matches, particularly during his 11 in a row.  But since that season he's only scored four in the last half hour of a league match, and none of them have made a difference to the result.  In 2016-17 he scored late goals in matches we were already winning and went on to win (against Manchester City and Sunderland), and this season he's scored consolation goals in matches we were already losing by a couple and went on to lose (against Chelsea and Liverpool).

Vardy brings a huge amount to the team apart from goals, with his pressing, tackling and assists, and by tying up defenders.  But it would be good to see him scoring more of those late equalisers and winners again ... or maybe the manager bringing him off a bit earlier sometimes to give someone else a chance.

Not league, but that 73rd min Vardy goal in Sevilla last year was pretty crucial..
