Fox 4 Life Posted 28 February 2016 Posted 28 February 2016 He was fine, could clearly see he isn't a right back so fair play to the lad for slotting in so comfortably. Was often out of position as he clearly favoured pushing up the pitch. I feel like by doing that he pushed Mahrez inside and he was less creative as a result. Simpson was missed and it will be good to get him back on Tuesday. I think Amartey would be a decent replacement for Kante if he can't go as he has the stamina and hustle for that role.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 28 February 2016 Posted 28 February 2016 Looked tentative all game to me, like he didn't want to make a mistake. Understandable. I thought Norwich would target him more but they didn't really get up the pitch enough to do that.
Spudulike Posted 28 February 2016 Posted 28 February 2016 Got caught out of position a couple of times with his natural tendency to move into the middle although I thought that Wes did very well to protect him on occasions. Can't be easy being the new boy at this late stage of the season but overall he did ok. Potential to be a good 'un but perhaps not at RB.
Nalis Posted 28 February 2016 Posted 28 February 2016 He got better as the match when on but I'm not sure how much the other players trust him with the ball yet (particularly Mahrez). Hopefully that will come with time. Ironically, I wish we still had cup comps just to give players like Amaratey and others game time.
Sublime_Coatsworth Posted 28 February 2016 Posted 28 February 2016 I think he looked a bit shaky and nervous tbh - but probably not surprising given it was his first game and a crunch match (though they all are now) Simpson will be back against West Brom Cheers Jez
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 28 February 2016 Posted 28 February 2016 Did ok, bit nervy at the start and gave the ball away, but settled down and was solid enough. Wasn't quite as quick as I thought he would be mind...
TJB-fox Posted 28 February 2016 Posted 28 February 2016 He's not match fit so nobody can really comment on pace(yet!!) he's played what, 2 games for the 21's? That won't set him up to anywhere near the pace he needs to be at for the prem. Just needs time.
Sampson Posted 28 February 2016 Posted 28 February 2016 He looked a bit rusty, but it's hard to judge him on one performance being played out of position. He'll come good, I'm sure.
ithuriel Posted 28 February 2016 Posted 28 February 2016 Did ok coming in to a settled team where a few of the players looked like they had just woken up and Norwich looked up for it.
NewEnglandFox Posted 11 April 2016 Posted 11 April 2016 He's come on at RM to close out a couple games. Thoughts? I haven't seen enough of him to judge but I didn't know he also played out there. I thought he was a CDM that also played CB/RB. I suppose RM should be within his skillset with his other positions.

To be fair, Kante played RM too early on (and that was important during the Chelsea game). I'm sure he's being placed there now to help with defensive solidarity. Amartey's natural position is CM foremost and I think he's being played around the pitch because push has come to shove.

Very young, new league, difficult league, new country, new culture. I didn't imagine he'd make much of an impact this season, it's one I think we'll have more of an idea about by end of next season.
lgfualol Posted 11 April 2016 Posted 11 April 2016 Really wish he scored yesterday, I dont think he expected the Sunderland players to shit themselves and give him a free shot on goal. Looks good, but will take time. I like his versatility. Cant imagine we'll see him much at RM next season.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 11 April 2016 Posted 11 April 2016 I was impressed with him when he came on yesterday. Looked steady and nearly scored. As similar to Gray he's in a great environment to develop really well at LCFC.
FoxSince88 Posted 11 April 2016 Posted 11 April 2016 It was the u21s today But he played in CM and had quite a good assured game.
foxes21 Posted 11 April 2016 Posted 11 April 2016 I think next season he could form a good partnership with King, when we need to rotate with DD/Kante. King excels better in a 2, when he has a defence minded player next to him, like Hammond at the start of last season. Amartey could be a good match for Kingy.

As similar to Gray he's in a great environment to develop really well at LCFC. Him and Gray remind me a bit of football manager a few seasons ago..... where i was almost excited when one of my best players got injured so that i could get by wonderkids some consecutive games in the first team....
DB11 Posted 11 April 2016 Posted 11 April 2016 Wouldn't surprise me if he is the first choice CM next season when/if Kante leaves
sdb Posted 11 April 2016 Posted 11 April 2016 Why are people so adamant Kante will leave? Have I missed something?
Clever Fox Posted 11 April 2016 Posted 11 April 2016 Seen him a couple of times now and he looks a player. I'm sure he'll benefit from a full pre season and be challenging for a place next year.

ARM1968 Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 Played well. Passing was mostly good his boot out to Gray led to Vardy's second. Little passing fest in Sunderland corner nearly led to another goal and he nearly scored. All in all looked very good.
Ashley Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 Wouldn't surprise me if he is the first choice CM next season when/if Kante leaves Pretty much what I was thinking. Introduce him slowly then if Kante does leave play him with Drinky
americanfox Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 he was a CB that got moved into midfield in the last season or so Right, he played CB at Djurgardens, but honestly his best position is CM given his stamina and other skills (e.g. that 95' minute run to draw a peno).
