have we really messed up ?

It will either turn out one of two ways. A) our strikers will be on fire for the remainder of the season and Ranieri will prove the majority of us wrong. Or B) we'll be absolutely sh*te infront of goal and we'll all be sitting here saying 'we missed our chance in January when we should've brought a goalscorer'

Obviously I hope it is option 'A'

We've managed this far with the current squad. If Vardy gets injured then so be it. Someone would have to step up. We have the players to continue this season. Our owners will want to spend some money in the summer if CL football is achieved. Lets not jump on the band wagon of blaming lack of signings when we lose our next game. Trust in the team to get the job done.

We haven't messed up. We've got this far with three strikers, there's less than half the season left, I'm sure we'll be fine. What we have done is not be held to ransom to spend stupid money on a striker who might not settle and might have no impact on our season.

Like I said last night I'm disappointed but it's not the end of the world.

But like others I do get frustrated about how long deals seem to take us, you could argue we won't be taken for a mug and thrash out deals until we're happy with the price, etc, but we do seem to be the slowest club in the world to settle deals, obviously I don't watch other clubs deals as closely but I've never known us sign a player simply, it always seems a long, drawn out process.

Nobody bid for Mahrez , Vardy or Kante so it's hardly an achievement keeping them when nobody was interested in bidding for them

That's your own assumption. Personally, I can but assume the interest is there, but the club would be foolish to let them leave now already.

Expect a few inquiries for Mahrez, Kanté and Vardy this summer.

I'm not saying it's a disaster.

I just feel like we'll probably never be in the position again, our manager wanted a top class striker and we couldn't get him one.

Anyway it's done now, let's hope we can still pull this off with the squad we have.

It's a hard window to operate in, it's a shame we couldn't pull it off but let's not forget how we found ourselves in this wonderful position.

Beckford, Konchesky, Nugent, Mills, Schmeichel, Morgan, Was, Dyer,Dyer Mahrez Vardy.

Need I go on....

...In addition to upsetting the balance of the squad and the harmony off the pitch. Agree 100%.

The January window is over hyped and usually smacks of desperation.

I get the concerns over lack of depth and the need to enhance our play, but hypothetically this board would go into meltdown had we just poached Vardy and Mahrez from another club.We should be grateful for the assets and quality that we have and appreciative of the fact that the fortitude and fight of this team has made history. We've proved that's something you can't purchase, it's a priceless quality and one that is very hard to replicate.

None of the top clubs have more than 3 strikers. We've lost some third and 4th choice players and replaced them with a couple of young potential starters.

If we had signed Amartey and Gray yesterday everyone would have been delighted with the window.

We are a stronger squad now so I'm happy with it.

None of the other top clubs play 2 strikers! We do which means we have 1 replacement. We've proven that we are very mediocre when we play 4-2-3-1 as well.

People need to remember that £23m was musa's release fee not value. As a player he may not have been much better than remy or gayle, should we have paid £23m for them? southampton or man u didnt think him worth the release fee if reports they were interested are true. Had we had a bid accepted maybe they would have jumped in and we'd have struggled to sign him anyway.

But we offered £18.5 million a mere £4.5 million less than his release clause. We're hardly talking a big gap in numbers here.

Anyone else feel like Chelsea played us very very well? All day they give hints that Remy is available for a fee or loan and then maybe we see Musa is not happening so go all in for him and then conveniently at 8.30pm they pull the plug and it leaves us no time to do anything else.

They will still have eyes on the top 4 whatever anyone says and we are the potential weakest link so it makes sense.

Let's be pretend this is a good thing we didn't get a target.

Our manager wanted a striker, he identified numerous possibilities, he even was confident enough to say he on TV he was sure one was coming in, something behind the scenes has gone wrong.

This is what people are either ignoring or forgetting, having 1 replacement isn't going to be ideal if we pick up an injury... rocket science it is not.

I agree Matt. We stated it publically then didn't deliver. Pretty much spot on.

The top clubs only play 1 up front though - 3 into one would be the same as 4 into 2 (starters, one bench, one reserve). The "man city only have three strikers" argument only works if we're planning to abandon 442

On reflection, id have rather got nobody in than have gone for someone less suitable just for the sake of it.

Given that Krammy can be recalled we are currently no worse off than we were.

I'm disappointed we haven't signed a striker bit I'm glad we haven't spent money on someone for the sake of it who isn't going to improve the team.

If we really wanted musa we'd have paid the extra, there must be a reason why we didn't go any higher.

Need to remember that this team has got us to this position, yeah we'll need to be lucky to avoid injuries but so will the other clubs.

My thoughts exactly

I'm really happy we didnt pay the £23m for Musa.

Whilst it would be nice to have bought a striker, that sort of money for a player who's relatively untested is really dangerous.

The same for Remy. Paying a guy £100k a week he needs to be the absolute cream. Not Loic Remy.

It's disappointing we didn't get a striker in but the rumours are Remy loan deal was agreed but they couldn't fly him up because of the really bad weather conditions so that's unlucky but we should of had it done earlier really. I hope we get no injuries. But we have done brilliantly so far with what we have so let's show some faith!

Barely any top clubs have strengthened during this window, I really don't understand the panic. So many people on here seemed to want to sign a player for the sake of having an extra body, I can't work out if that's because they've bought into the Sky deadline day boll*cks or genuinely want a bigger squad with not necessarily the same level of talent.

As has been said, we've played the majority of the season with 3 forwards and we sit top of the league. We only have 15 games left, no cup competitions whatsoever. Were we in Europe or competing in one of the domestic cups then a bigger squad may have been more desperate, but as it is, I don't think it's a huge priority. It seems as though we have a recall option on those that are out on loan, so what's the harm in them getting competitive game time rather than just sitting in our reserves?

Tonight will either make people forget or it will be meltdown on here, for the sake of everybody please let it be the former.

Mahrez can play off a number 9 and has done for us this season, so there is your 4th forward.

There is no chance they are gaining 19 points in 15 matches. There will be many more clubs pass us as well if they do.
