suffolk fox Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 You have seen our squad haven't you? Wtf is this supposed to mean? You take a very small point in my post which is totally irrelevant to what I was talking about and try to change it into somthing else? Your point is?
lee7 Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 It's disappointing we didn't get a striker in but the rumours are Remy loan deal was agreed but they couldn't fly him up because of the really bad weather conditions so that's unlucky but we should of had it done earlier really. I hope we get no injuries. But we have done brilliantly so far with what we have so let's show some faith! If that is the case and the only reason why he has not signed for us is because of the weather conditions then that is a shambles. Surely when it came to say 5pm if the weather had not improved then they should've stuck him in a car and drove him up.
maynefox Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 We needed a striker. I will be surprised (and happy of course) if we do play through the rest of the season with our 3 main strikers fit! I agree with most posters, someone didn't do their job to bring a striker in. I'm not talking about Remy or Musa. We had all month to get a striker who wouldn't, "damage the team spirit". I fear this will come back to haunt us. Regardless, we have options in midfield that could play to our advantage, with a 5-man attacking midfield. If an injury crisis does happen, this would be logical to implement and I think it would work well for our team. We have wingers who can score goals, given that they are in the right position. I'm relieved that the window is closed now and I think overall we've done a very good job with our three signings; shame it couldn't be "excellent" had we added a good striker. As some as suggested maybe this will be a blessing in disguise, not paying £20+m for Musa! Lets put this behind us and focus on the remainder of the season staring with Liverpool tonight!!
Babylon Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 On reflection, id have rather got nobody in than have gone for someone less suitable just for the sake of it. Given that Krammy can be recalled we are currently no worse off than we were. Has this been confirmed by someone? Mahrez can play off a number 9 and has done for us this season, so there is your 4th forward. Problem is... he's been terrible when he has played there.
SecretPro Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 Has this been confirmed by someone? He cannot play unless we name him in our 25 man squad today.
Viva Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 Has this been confirmed by someone? Problem is... he's been terrible when he has played there. He was still chosen there ahead of Kramaric though, so he basically was our 4th choice. We got rid of a 5th choice striker in effect and haven't replaced him. Well I don't think that's the end of the world for only 15 matches.
Jimbo Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 We need to chill a little. Yes, I am disappointed that we didn't get a striker in. But we can put a positive spin on anything. This squad got us here, and had kept us here so far, going against what many thought/think would happen. We've added 3 young and promising players. We kept hold of our main assets. We could have done with another striker to add goals but we still have 2 of the highest scorers this season in our team. We didn't panic and start throwing money around. We didn't end up with a £35million Andy Carroll! January Transfers go wrong more than they go right. We're alright. We've not messed up. We're not the only ones who haven't added and our squad is much better than most "experts" think it is. Don't let our lack of activity yesterday get you jittery. We are where we are, we still have the most glorious opportunity to do something special this year. And anyway, have you seen the videos of Amartey!!??? We don't need another striker with guys like him bombing forward
Babylon Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 He was still chosen there ahead of Kramaric though, so he basically was our 4th choice. We got rid of a 5th choice striker in effect and haven't replaced him. Well I don't think that's the end of the world for only 15 matches. It's not the end of the world if we keep everyone fit.
Great Boos Up Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 Obviously something went wrong. I propose that Musa / Remy bids were in the end met, but they upped the demands in the last few hours. Also, I wonder how much time in this transfer window was spent fighting off interest in our squad. Pointless bringing a forward in and keeping our eye off the ball with what we already have. I'm OK with it.
Gerard Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 It's a 15 game season where we play once a week, the squad options are absolutely fine. We got rid of our 4th choice centre back and our 4th choice striker who have played 100 mins between them in the league this season. De Laet has gone and I'd rather play Simpson, Amartey or Chilwell there before him. The only thing people have issue with is if Vardy gets injured but that's been a concern all season as there isn't an adequate replacement. We tried to get someone in but it wasn't to be as they wanted to have our pants down. I'm happy enough to go with what we've got and keep our tinder dry to the summer.
fuchsntf Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 Barely any top clubs have strengthened during this window, I really don't understand the panic. So many people on here seemed to want to sign a player for the sake of having an extra body, I can't work out if that's because they've bought into the Sky deadline day boll*cks or genuinely want a bigger squad with not necessarily the same level of talent. As has been said, we've played the majority of the season with 3 forwards and we sit top of the league. We only have 15 games left, no cup competitions whatsoever. Were we in Europe or competing in one of the domestic cups then a bigger squad may have been more desperate, but as it is, I don't think it's a huge priority. It seems as though we have a recall option on those that are out on loan, so what's the harm in them getting competitive game time rather than just sitting in our reserves? Tonight will either make people forget or it will be meltdown on here, for the sake of everybody please let it be the former. Thanks for saving me typing...top post.
Number 6 Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 Wtf is this supposed to mean? You take a very small point in my post which is totally irrelevant to what I was talking about and try to change it into somthing else? Your point is? My point is that you can find very good players without chucking millions away. That's what we've done for the last few years. You said it couldn't be done.
Aus Fox Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 He cannot play unless we name him in our 25 man squad today. Correct me if I am wrong but didn't we only name a 24 man squad originally? Leaving 1 space open, the two new players would make it 26, but that included De Laet and Benny too. So one of Benny, De Laet or Kramarix do not get named in the 25 man squad. My money would be on Benny as we have the most cover in his position and shouldn't need to recall him. So I cannot see why Kramaric wouldn't be included.
Wolfox Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 Result..., nobody we wanted to stay left - not even rumours 3 new promising talents in No big ego in to rock the boat or silly snap purchases that might not work out... Bottom line - The squad we have now is stronger than the one at the beginning of the window
Ollie93 Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 Think we all need to calm down. We have kept hold of our most important players, and brought in some new fresh talent in Gray and Armartey. Some of you are acting like it's the end of the world that we didn't bring in Loic Remy.
MC Prussian Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 Wtf is this supposed to mean? You take a very small point in my post which is totally irrelevant to what I was talking about and try to change it into somthing else? Your point is? Well you said "You cannot get decent players on the cheap", which is somewhat detrimental to our more recent transfer policy and thus an incorrect statement. If you want to go on about business correctly and want to find a bargain, it takes more time and effort than just simply "splash the cash". Which is probably one of the things every Leicester fan should be rather cautious of, given our history. I am pleased we didn't sell anybody especially Vardy, Mahrez, Kante etc. However, I do believe the club should look strongly at our transfer policy. You cannot ever get decent players on the cheap. Also, when or if they do come why does it seem to take our club forever to get the deal done and over the line?We need to seriously look at our wages, policy, the way we go about it. If it's true we missed out on Musa by not paying the extra 2.9 million they were insisting on, we bid 20, then by sticking to your guns we are the ones missing out. We go with what we have however, I do believe we have missed a trick by not bringing one other striker in, in order to definitely finish in the top four. If Vardy gets injured we are fooked. If Vardy gets injured, we still have Ulloa and Okazaki (and possibly, Kramaric). If Vardy, Ulloa, Okazaki and Kramaric all get injured simultaneously, then we're fooked.
LCFC FOX Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 teams will probably be more physical with us now, Hoping they can put a couple of players out inured
SpacedX Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 If Vardy, Ulloa, Okazaki and Kramaric all get injured simultaneously, then we're fooked. That's when we recall Benny as C/B alongside Moore, convert Was, Wes or Huth into a Walsh/Elliot style striker or play all three up front - dust off the Brian Little playbook and knock it long on a wing and a prayer.
Viva Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 teams will probably be more physical with us now, Hoping they can put a couple of players out inured I don't think moving on Kramaric is suddenly going to make teams want to injure us!
Webbo Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 teams will probably be more physical with us now, Hoping they can put a couple of players out inured Why will they? Do Man City try and break legs every time they play Arsenal or Spurs?
Koke Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 I think if Vardy gets crooked we are hoping Mahrez carries the team in terms of goals. Problem we had from Christmas til the Stoke game was that Vardy was obviously playing with an injury and needed surgery, and it unfortunately coincided with Mahrez going through terrible form (couldn't even score pens), and thus we failed to score in 4 straight league games. Vardy is fit again. And hopefully if something happens to either of them it won't coincide with the other going through bad form.
Alf Bentley Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 If Vardy, Ulloa, Okazaki and Kramaric all get injured simultaneously, then we're fooked. If the sky falls on my head today, I'll be Chicken Licken. Whereas I'm currently in training to be Nigel Pearson (or Eric Cantona).
Jimbo Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 If the sky falls on my head today, I'll be Chicken Licken. Whereas I'm currently in training to be Nigel Pearson (or Eric Cantona). If you were an ostrich then you'd be fine
The Railway Man Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 Someone has certainly messed up, for Claudio to go onto television and say he was "very confident" or something that a striker would be in he's clearly been fed some information telling him one of the deals was a goer. Whether we have messed up as a club we'll probably only know in the coming weeks.
ThaiFox Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 Happy we kept our squad together. If players don't want to come then we shouldn't force them. Not thrilled with any of the names mentioned anyway and I'm sure we were only linked with some because of our position and the media stirring things up for interest. Of course it would have been great to pull in another couple of players, but we only have to get through 15 games with players who have shown they have passion, spirit, drive and hunger. As for strikers, Okazaki has stepped up, and I still think Ulloa has it in him to score. The teams around us didn't buy, and with some of them having nearly double the games left as we have, I would be more concerned if I supported one of those clubs.
