KO football is not always about the best team winning but it may go down to bottle, luck, ref decisions etc. For us, if we turn up and play to our full potential we can give a few sides a game. The likes of PSG are really struggling for example. I know they have class players but the manager is getting it in the neck, they got beat by Montpellier the other day and all is not rosey. Leverkusen arent playing well, lost 6 won 5 in the league. Portuguese football is quite weak at the moment and Benfica are hardly world beaters. Looking at their squad they have the likes of Mitroglou playing up front for them. Looking down their team sheet it doesnt look that scary. OK there are some sides in there that could rip us apart if we are on an off day but lets stay positive, hope for a decent draw and pray our top boys like Vardy, DD and Mahrez are flying and anything can happen. You know, it works both ways! You hope for Divine Intervention and I do also hope we somehow can prolong this European adventure and get some much-needed positivity back. Realistically, we've got no chance - but they say you've got to take it regardless. There are no more "decent" draws next spring, only tough and challenging ones. However, I'd rather we could focus on the league and secure safety asap.

This, cus a heavy defeat in the CL, we only dent our chances of survival
the fox Posted 6 December 2016 Posted 6 December 2016 We can't even survive a half with most teams that are going to the second round with us. And at least 4 teams can give us the slapping of a lifetime. All I want is for us to keep our dignity. Just get a 2 goal deference and call it a day (if we get the big teams ) , we could go against PSG,benfic, bayern munich, leverkusen, real Madrid/Dortmund,Sevilla/juventus. The best option here is benfica. PSG,city, bayern., and maybe real Madrid and juve (if they lose) can get 6 past us ,EASILY!!!!. Sevilla and Leverkusen are very hard but not impossible. And Dortmund are just next level For the people that are confused. Here is a ranking for the potential teams that we could face So here it is: #Best scenario: -benfica #Hard but not impossible : -Sevilla (if they lose and juve get the first place) -Leverkusen #Next to impossible : -Dortmund (if they lose) #The "look away. It is a massacre" scenario : -real Madrid (if they lose) -PSG -Bayern Munich -juve (if they lose and Sevilla get the first place) ... So yeah, let's hope for benfica, guys.

Go to the tap and fill the glass mate you never know you might like it

It's all subjective. Dortmund would look tough on paper but they're hardly flying in the bundesliga are they? PSG struggled tonight. Even Bayern lost against Rostov a fortnight ago. Just support the lads, enjoy it and see what happens. You might be surprised.

Seville and Leverkusen are better then us. No doubt about that. Dortmund unplayable. And the rest are just .argh, no chance, buddy. The only good one here is benfica.

But the line has to be drawn. We are not good enough to even get a 0-0 game against 5 of the potential 8. The only team that I am confident that we have a chance against is benfica. But no one knows. We could get PSG and go to the next 8. Or we could face benfica and get hammered. No one knows........,so we can only say COYF
Corky Posted 6 December 2016 Posted 6 December 2016 Right now it doesn't look promising. In two months things might be completely different and positive. We should have new players in. But if not then so be it, the Champions League is elite level competition and we will get a tough match. We should embrace whoever we get.
GeorgeTheFox Posted 7 December 2016 Posted 7 December 2016 Let's have one of the big boys. I'd rather go out against Bayern or Juve than fizzle out against Benfica or Sevilla. Always the possibility of something special happening as well
ealingfox Posted 7 December 2016 Posted 7 December 2016 Anyone getting pissy or apathetic about the fact that Leicester City will probably draw a team that will probably turn us over in the last 16 of the Champions League, honestly get in the fvcking bin. Playing a single minute in this competition at all was the stuff of dreams and Football Manager until a few months ago.
The whole world smiles Posted 7 December 2016 Posted 7 December 2016 For god's sake lads keep your negativity out of the champions league thread. This should be the last fortress on foxestalk for the dreamers and the optimists. I honestly thought I could live to be 300 and not see my side in europes top club competition. Yet hear we are In the knock out stages. If after everything you saw from this team last season you don't believe they could beat Bayer Leverkusen or benfica over two legs then there really is nothing I can say to you. You have allowed your bitterness and negativity to could your common sense and sour you enjoyment. 1 percent chance of going through give me a break. We may get spanked over two legs and go down we might end up in the quarters or even semis much stranger things have happened in the last few months. But either way I'm going to get behind the team and enjoy the ride a little while longer.
STUHILL Posted 7 December 2016 Posted 7 December 2016 I would love to go one more round in this competition. That really would be incredible to get to the quarter finals of the Champions League and the buzz around us again, would be truly incredible. Obviously after that, then we are potentially in for a hiding but should only worry about that when/if we get there. So if that means getting a more beatable team like Benfica, then I am all for it. Sevilla, Leverkusen and I also think PSG are all beatable for us too. If not, then lets go out in a blaze of glory 7-4 to Real Madrid on aggregate

Innovindil Posted 7 December 2016 Posted 7 December 2016 Why are people talking about Dortmund as if they're the dog's bollocks? Their defense this year is complete doggo. Getting destroyed by Bundesliga farmers. Bayern aren't exactly blowing people away either. They lost to rostov ffs. And psg have cavani up front, who on a bad day can have 20 shots at goal and not hit the target. If we turn up we can take any of these.

Dortmunds defence is pretty much in line with the rest of the bundesliga in terms of goals conceded, wouldn't really say they're getting destroyed by farmers. Besides I think its more the 54 goals in 21 games this season that is worrying, especially with the state of our own defence at present

StriderHiryu Posted 7 December 2016 Posted 7 December 2016 It's a real shame we aren't in the form of last season. That side and performance we put in at the Ethiad could have taken us to the last 4 of the CL! Luckily there's time between now and then although AFCON will disrupt a plan to have a settled side. Anyway enjoy our adventure! I know I am!

We kept a clean sheet against them. And probably should have beat them. We can fight with the best of them, and we have the time to find form before the last 16 games. No point writing us off just yet.
foxy boxing Posted 7 December 2016 Posted 7 December 2016 Can't believe PSG couldn't beat Ludogorets. Arsenal were fortunate that they couldn't and won their group which makes a change for them!. Sanchez and Ozil are world class and if Arsenal can keep them fit and playing aswell as tying up their contracts then good for them. Can't see Man city doing anything special with Pep in the Champions league if they cant evan beat Celtic at home Come on foxes remain unbeaten
Ted Maul Posted 7 December 2016 Posted 7 December 2016 My hopes for us the CL this year were that we wouldn't embarrass ourselves and create some amazing memories of supporting City in Europe- we've already completed both of those objectives. So if we draw one of the big teams, embrace it, take it for what it is- a chance to go over to one of Europe's best cities with thousands of other Leicester fans, get tanked up and play one of the giants of the game who we've never played before. Sure, chances are we will get turned over, but anything can happen in knockout football.
