Jace Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 I understand what you guys are saying like oh he's a legend he can leave with our blessing etc etc, but we'll never become one of the big boys with this attitude. It's almost like you guys are just grateful for this season and happy to slip back into obscurity. **** that I don't want to become a Southampton or whatever I want to build on what we've got and become one of the big boys. This plucky little Leicester attitude won't keep us at the top Couple of seasons ago we'd have snapped up the chance to be the next Southampton
Guest Lcfc82 Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Izzet not a legend then? Izzet stayed when he could of moved well before. The club forced him out in the end to get him off the wage bill
GaelicFox Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Leaves a very bitter taste in my mouth to be quite honest. Maybe once Arsenal kill him off with their boring sideways game, he'll realise the grass isn't always greener. Larry needs his own thread , always on the mark !
hairmetalgamer Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Personally I feel that Vardy owes this club a lot more than any of the other players, if he just walks away without even trying to find a compromise and especially after only a couple of weeks ago saying he doesn't want to leave and why would he then I've lost a little respect for him. Saying that though I don't think its as done a deal as people are making out and I can see it suddenly going the other way today
CockneyFox Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 This is what I find strange. Vardy in January had 2.5 years left on his contract and on 40k a week with probably no release clause. We extended his contract by one more year and doubled his wages, he's in no position to demand a relatively low release clause, we had the whip hand at the negotiation table. If he insisted on it we could say no deal and he'd be here now on 40k a week, two years left on his contract and no release clause. We could have easily forced this through without a low release clause or put in a very high one like £35m. I'm dubious there is a release clause because of this. On the flip side we risk de-stabilising the dressing room with hard-ball negotiations in the middle of a title challenge...
dannythefox Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Love the bloke it's feels like a kick in the teeth but he has to do what's best for his family. Gutted.
EastAnglianFox Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Obviously gutted if/when it happens, but already genuinely excited at the prospect of a whole new frontline coming in. Yes it was possible Vards could have had another season like last but unlikely imo. I'll have no ill feeling toward him but neither would I cheer him upon his return, that's just how I am when players come and go.
CosbehFox Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 So he knew Vardy was being offered about, and yet he didn't actually bother to mention it? England striker gets offered around clubs... He decides that's not news worthy. Fairly sure the Mirror has published numerous articles on clubs being interested in Vardy

Especially watching us lift the CL, FA cup and the biggest of them all thecharity shield from the injury table.

This plucky little Leicester attitude won't keep us at the top Who said we need or want to become one of the big boys? Part of the appeal of this club has been the constant turmoil, fighting back from sportive disappointments and relegations, having a go at European football occasionally and challenging the real Big Boys, proving to be a spoilsport to some extent. I appreciate your longing for success, but the years to come will prove whether we can maintain this level or whether the past season was just a one-off, albeit an utterly fantastic one. Let's also not forget that whilst we were experiencing the season of a lifetime, the league's heavyweights underwent massive changes and either underperformed and/or were experiencing some of the worst campaigns in a long, long time.

We're Leicester City and we've just won the Premier League... I'd say that's repaid!! I'd love him to stay but if he moves then I'll thank him for what we've achieved
TJB-fox Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Embarassing.Haha I knew I'd get responses like this- not unduly fussed. I want my club to become one of the top stalwarts in English football, not sink back to mid table nothingness. Selling Vardy and putting that release clause in won't help us achieve it, it's regression. I don't want my club to be seen as a stepping stone. Vardy leaving will signal to all our current players and future players 'oh I'll just wait it out for a bigger club'. I don't know why some fans are so content with us selling Vardy. He's got undoubted quality so it's unlikely he'd still be in the lower leagues but who knows without us and Walsh he might be struggling in league 2/1, yes there's not much loyalty in football these days but sorry for believing that Leicester city had something special going on here other than financial gain.

This plucky little Leicester attitude won't keep us at the top Dortmund get their best players nicked by Munich every year, they are still one of the best clubs in Europe and one of the biggest in the World. It's how we replace players who move on because quite frankly, they've got to leave one day.
KFS Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 You know what's worse than the spackers sending her threatening messages? The hordes of "they aren't real fans, we all love you" tweets. What a fvcking horrible invention. Looks like he's off, I'm gutted to be honest. Never thought he'd be the one to push for a move out of our key players. It's true there isn't any loyalty in football. We do owe him a lot, but we were the ones who took a gamble on him for a million when no one else would. This stinks, but there's nothing we can do. Next season should be about top 10 and building for the future. Hang on to the memories of last season because every fvcker is trying their hardest to ensure it doesn't happen again.
TJB-fox Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Couple of seasons ago we'd have snapped up the chance to be the next SouthamptonThat was a couple of seasons ago so slightly irrelevant pal.
theessexfox Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Thought Vardy would stay but not looking good now, either way he's an absolute hero, nothing he or any of the team from this year do can take away from the fact they've given us the season of a lifetime.
Guest Lcfc82 Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Really disappointed in him if he goes especially after all the "I'm happy here" and "were like brothers " comments. I think he owes the club more than we owe him. Lost his chance of club legend status.
Drygon Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 I want to post a tweet, but it doesn't work... Can someone help me please?

ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 I'm just waiting for footage on SSN with a bunch of chavs holding up "DON'T GO JAMIE" banners outside his house

We aren't content on him leaving, we're all gutted. But look at the bigger picture. And don't be disrespectful to player that has just helped us win a top flight title. He owed us, he repaid us, we owe him.
