Vardy

This is what I find strange.

Vardy in January had 2.5 years left on his contract and on 40k a week with probably no release clause.

We extended his contract by one more year and doubled his wages, he's in no position to demand a relatively low release clause, we had the whip hand at the negotiation table. If he insisted on it we could say no deal and he'd be here now on 40k a week, two years left on his contract and no release clause.

We could have easily forced this through without a low release clause or put in a very high one like £35m. I'm dubious there is a release clause because of this.

Two thoughts were either the clause was already in his previous contract (had the balls to put an England one in coming from non league)... Or that Rudkin thinks he's playing championship manager and doesn't really have a clue what he's doing.

Yes he's contributed to the title but at the end of the day we're the ones who made him the player he is today, if he wants to leave then as far as I'm concerned he can **** off. He wouldn't have a PL winners medal if it wasn't for the club- the owners, manager, fitness team etc and the other players that the club brought in. No player is bigger than the club, I repeat no player is bigger than Leicester City. He can **** off to London hope he rots on the bench if he goes there and we'll knock those ***** out of the champions league.

Arsenal of all clubs the smug ****ing horrible bastards.

This is gunna ruin the euros for me, Vardy was the only reason I was slightly looking forward to watching england

I do like others suggesting not to resent him for moving if indeed he does, it's the right attitude to have IMO.

I, like many others, of course want Vardy to stay, but if he does move on, ultimately we are now in an ideal position replace him, although difficult.

Question: What's better than winning the Premiership?

Answer: Winning it two years on the trot.

Question: Are we likely to realistically win it next year?

Answer: No.

Question: Which team are likely to realistically compete for the title given the number of changes (including management) occurring across the big teams?

Answer: Arsenal

Arsenal will have no better a chance again this year to do so with the majority of their main challengers about to start a transition or still working through it.

If Vardy thinks he can achieve that goal next season, again I don't despise him for that. People using the word 'hate' need a word with themselves.

He'd have just wanted off in January without the release clause

Some of you are being really disrespectful here. Vardy is a legend (in fact all of the squad are) because they've just won us the top flight. If he moves on, he moves on, that's football.

Need to take a look at yourselves you pricks.

if he does go, what was all that bullshit about when he said he doesn't want to move and owes leicester everything for giving him a chance etc.

He said he was happy, not that he wouldn't move. He said he'd do everything he could to pay us back for our faith... A trophy and £20m probably covers that.

The club probably wouldn't have a league title if it wasn't for him  lol

Embarassing.

Sky Sports reporting it as 'Manchester United turned down the opportunity to sign Vardy' as if he has been offered around?? Could just be SSN being SSN or his agent really is working overtime to get him a move?

in which case we could have asked for anything we wanted.

Exactly this and then sending his agent to get him a better deal. This is why most people are angry with him.

If he didn't say any of that stuff no-one would begrudge him a move but thats not the case and he looks like a complete snake.

I also disagree with the people saying he doesn't owe the club anything he actually does. The club gave him his chance. The club stuck by him when he was turning up drunk/hungover to training when in reality it would have been easier to cut all losses (especially as he was playing so poorly at the time) and finally sticking with him through the racist incident and giving him the platform to excel this season.

I understand what you guys are saying like oh he's a legend he can leave with our blessing etc etc, but we'll never become one of the big boys with this attitude. It's almost like you guys are just grateful for this season and happy to slip back into obscurity. **** that I don't want to become a Southampton or whatever I want to build on what we've got and become one of the big boys. This plucky little Leicester attitude won't keep us at the top

Leaves a very bitter taste in my mouth to be quite honest. Maybe once Arsenal kill him off with their boring sideways game, he'll realise the grass isn't always greener.

We didn't make him, we helped and assisted him but he made it himself.

Arsenal are a massive club. Much bigger than us. Atletico and Dortmund have won their league and STILL lost players to Bayern and other clubs. One great season does not equate to being on par with Arsenal.

This title win has clouded the views of some people.

It's just frustration, the feeling of being so close to perhaps continued success for a while and then the rug starting to be pulled from under you.

But we decided not to rock in the boat to achieve a good 2nd half of the season.

We put the CL caveat in because if we made the CL, the only attraction could be a move abroad or money.

And if it's money, I suppose the club have taken the view they don't wanna put anyone on a pedestal because it could affect the squad.

Last night I had a nightmare that Arsenal were 5 points ahead of Leicester with 3 games each to play. (Even they wouldn't have blown that surely). The title was just a dream. Then I woke up mightily relieved and the Vardy situation seemed that little less concerning. We are Champions man!!

What you're wanting is almost impossible without ridiculous investment. We just can't offer the money others do.

Just because a 'clause' has been triggered doesn't necessarily mean that any player is nailed on to join that said club.

I think at lot of this is arsenal's desperation for a striker and media/agent influence.

If he does go good luck to him. Achieved amazing stuff in the past 4 years on personal and club level and now a top English club wants you.

I for one, will be waiting until either the club makes a comment or Vardy himself. Anything else is typical summer transfer talk.
