Premier League Season 2016-17 Stuff it in here.

In all fairness, do pl teams in general play the slow tempo football, played in these other leagues? No.

Didn't say he won't score, his record doesn't stand up against English sides. Given facts to back this up.

May be wrong. We'll see won't we. I've seen him play spurs home and away in the flesh, at supposedly the peak of his powers. Wasn't all that.

6 in 22 is a pretty poor record but thats against the better sides in the league.

I don't know what "slow tempo leagues" has to do with it but surely a slow tempo is easier to defend against?

Two games is the hardly the biggest sample size.

Personally I don't think he'll be outstanding but he'll get between 15-20 which for a 35 year old in surely the last move in his career isn't bad at all.

He won't score 15 surely

If he starts every game then you'd expect him to hit at least that. He scored 38 in 31 appearances last season, admittedly for a strong PSG team in a poor league but he'll be working under Mourinho alongside the likes Mkhitaryan and Martial (himself scoring 11 league goals whilst playing mostly out wide).

Zlatan has played in mickey mouse leagues his whole career, except barca, where when you think about it, only 16 goals in a team with messi isn't brilliant. ****ing soldado managed to hit 20+ in la liga a few times, as did negredo. La liga is easy to score goals in really.

Again, his record against English clubs ain't great.

Just looked it up, 6 goals in 22 games. Hardly prolific.

When he was playing in Italy I wouldn't say it was a mickey mouse league... It wasn't at it's best admittedly, but other than PSG he's played in pretty competitive leagues throughout his career.

yeah and james rodriguez. think it might all be shit though, they're basically loaded but still a bottom half club right now so not sure why anyone would join them just yet.

Yeah, agree.

In other news, Townsend has signed for Palace and Gayle has signed for Newcastle.

Watford have turned down THIRTY EIGHT MILLION QUID from Shanghai SIPG for Odion Ighalo. Madness.

Indeed - we must still really value him as a player despite the poor 2nd half of the season.

Got in a couple of attacking players in Sinclair and Isaac Success (hope he lives up to the name..)

Watford turn down £37.5m bid for Ighalo from Chinese club they have lost the plot.

That's c£63m for their strikeforce!!!

Wow!

It's not when you consider that was effectively what made them competitive and that they'd possibly need to spend around £40 million of that to try and replace them both.

lol well obviously they aren't going to announce someone like witsel now, he's starting in the quarters of the euros in 59 mins time.

they are planning a big summer. they already spent loads on a manager (by managers terms) and the transfer window only opened today.

I agree with Palace trying to sign him. Benteke was quality for Villa, and if he regains his form (which I think he might) he's a very good addition for any club. Goalscorer proven at PL level.

I'd like us to sign him. A good option if we contiune to try to find a striker.
