Can still sign free agents and I'll probably get shot down for this but if we still think we are a little short in CM why not take a punt on Mathieu Flamini.

Still only 32 and could add experience to the squad obviously not the player he was but I think he would add another option in the squad.

A free agent and would not command huge wages.

Yeah I'd definitely give him a 1 year contract. Raul Meireles is also out of contract, another CDM with decent experience

Got to be joking.

Drinkwater is the main man

Mendy is a new £13m signing

Amartey looks like he may be finding his feet.

King is dependable.

We have no need for Flamini who would be behind the above and possibly one or two more like James and Kapustka.

Highly doubt we will ever see James in a Leicester Shirt again.

Maybe the odd league cup game if he's lucky.

Hes been out for 18 months and keeps getting setback after setback. He went off on Tuesday again injured.

You don't return the and player after being out for as long as he has been.

To get into our team now he would have to show an improvement from the player he was before that's how far we have come while he has been out.

Its simply never going to happen.

I fear he will slip down the leagues hope I'm proved wrong.

Tell me one player who has been out for as long as he has and come back the same player???

I don't believe James will ever get back to the standard we need and Kapustka needs to put on about 3 stone before he should be considered a CM.

Mendy is a DD type player, a playmaker. Amartey is a ball winner, King is neither.

Flamini is a great example of somebody who can provide cover/rotation for Amartey in that role.

The queue of understudies for the 2 midfield roles is not necessarily linear.

Phillippe Mexes and Martin Caceres are both available too, one of those along with Flamini on one year deals wouldn't be a bad idea in my opinion.

We are Champions of England, you don't see Man Utd looking at the freebies no one could be arsed to pick up until now they're desperate.

We didn't win the title by modelling ourselves on Manchester united, so that's ridiculous and I'm sure Ferguson picked up Henrik Larson under similar circumstances.

If James is injured again or struggling with his old injury then Flamini isn't a bad shout at all. He isn't glamorous but you know he is a hard worker and will sit nicely as a defensive midfielder. Thought he did ok for Arsenal when he rejoined them. Only 32 and could play 10-15 games for us if needed and also help players like Amartey with his experience. We were obviously in for another CM, so Claudio also sees we are short there. Worth considering, although seems like two Italian clubs are already in advanced talks with him.

Where does this keep coming from? His stats show absolutely nothing of the sort. He sat in front of the Nice defence and just ticked things over and kept possession. Sure he had the ability to pop a few decent balls down the channels, but was was never a play maker like Drinkwater.

Drinkwater has already almost matched his assists and chances created for Nice in the space of 270 minutes this season.

It's one thing picking up a Bosman, it's another scratching round the free agents in September who are basically players that no one else wanted.

Flamini would offer us nothing we haven't already got.

Hmm... European experience?

I agree that signing free agents past the main transfer window usually comes across as a desperate measure, but he's probably the best out of a bad bunch.

It's called cover, nobody said he would start!

I reckon we've lit the fuse with Silva and when it all goes sh1tty for him at Sporting we can go in and grab him during the next window ...    either him or N'Zonzi would be my next targets.

How deep should our cover go?

We're still only four months away before we can enter the transfer market again.

We already have plenty of cover in that area, it's quality we need, not cover.

lol

This title win really has gone to the heads of some on here.

Flamini would be an ideal person to get in considering our defensive midfielder is currently injured and his replacement is about 20.

Flamini would be ideal to play in cup games when we've got a depleted squad. 4 central midfielders isn't nearly enough.
