Collymore Posted 14 September 2016 Posted 14 September 2016 Did you know this is our first European League win since we beat Glentoran when no one can remember? Not sure why I know this fact... it's not as if it's been bore drilled into my skull after watching BT sports for night...
VLC86 Posted 14 September 2016 Posted 14 September 2016 I'm going to wake up tomorrow and ache I'm head to toe, absolute dream of a day followed by a perfect match. Stunning stuff. Clearly this beer has gone to my head, ache from head to toe.
foxinsox Posted 14 September 2016 Posted 14 September 2016 Well that went alright! Slimani looks good, and teams do not yet seem prepared for the Hernandez long throw. I think Amartey could still do with better game awareness, too often he was on the wrong side of their midfield. Looking at the highlights I think Porto and Copenhagen are both do-able. Top of the group. Lets nail Burnley with our reserves.

Go grab your grandfather, maybe he still remembers it up to this day in vivid detail.

Woof Posted 14 September 2016 Posted 14 September 2016 Great result and I was really impressed by the calm controlled way we played out the last 20 minutes of the match - just like watching us in the last half of last season - very encouraging. Amartey looked good again and at his age he looks a real prospect. A few more weeks training with the team and you can see that Slimani could make quite an impact this season.
st albans fox Posted 14 September 2016 Posted 14 September 2016 No idea if anything been posted but the away support was great tonight - especially second half from section 413 underneath sounded brilliant. Sadly couldn't join in - tough not being able to celebrate 3 bloody goals!
Captain... Posted 14 September 2016 Posted 14 September 2016 If they had put away that early chance it could have been a very different game. They didn't we scored early and it was good night Bruges. Slimani looked good, but not used to our style of play, he was caught on his heels a couple of times not expecting the quick attacking ball. Probably used to playing with players who look to recycle the ball before springing the attack. Looked good off the ball winning back possession and putting a shift in. He can grow into that role and be a real asset. Amartey and Hernandez had good games. Good cameos from Musa and Gray. So pleased for Albrighton an unsung hero of the last 18 months but we are so much better when he plays. Great day really, couldn't ask for anything more, although a comfortable win on Saturday vs Burnley and a goal for Slimani would be a nice bonus.
STUHILL Posted 14 September 2016 Posted 14 September 2016 I thought we played OK. Did what we had to against a poor side. We were clinical and showed signs of what we were so well known for last year, being ruthless in attack and forcing the opposition into mistakes and punishing them. The midfield still isn't functioning as well as it could yet, but Amartey was better today. Just needs to work on his positioning and marking, but showing good promise and I'm hoping Mendy comes back and really shows us what another good find he is. Defence was still a little shaky but thought Wes and Huth played well and always look a threat going forward for corners and those long throws. Still undecided on Hernadez but that throw is a real weapon. Was impressed with Slimani and think there is more to come. As someone else mentioned, he is a lot more mobile than Ulloa, and think he will be great for us in the Prem. Overall, a great start to our Champions league and a perfect result in the other game too. Still work to be done, especially in getting the sharpness in midfield and the defence back to its best, but onwards and upwards!

We were very poor. Porto will probably give you more resistance. I hope you had a good time.
Harry96 Posted 14 September 2016 Posted 14 September 2016 What a result, nowhere near our best either

His Long Throw might be just worth a few scary moments in a match. Whereas Simpson contributes very little in attacking sense. The fella he was marking would have given Simpson some problems too, for pace. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, particularly in Europe, because I think the long throw bombardment from both sides, is a big threat. More than anything he needs time to develop the understanding with the other players, and there are no short cuts for that. Loved -Vardy, Albrighton, Slim and Riyad (his body language before penos is truly shocking!) Liked - Drinky and Amartey (important match for him), Wes and Huth, Fuchs Lets face it, we are in it to win it. Keep dreaming

I thought the rumour was they'd be more inclined to sell Silva in Jan if they don't proceed in the UCL. I thought Slimani looked promising. He harassed all night and held the ball up well. Wes played well too. And I love watching Musa run at people. I doubt they will get through when they've got Real Madrid and Dortmund in their group, although they were unlucky against Real tonight

Congrats to your team and the fans. Hope they all had a good time in Bruges. With Porto drawing, you haven't lost much ground to anyone else. Hope Engels recovers quickly for you.

But we are so disappointed in the quality of play of our team. After two minutes the match could have known a different orientation. In the defense it was present day. Thanks for the warm cooperation in minute 23

Yes mate - currently queuing on the M25 at 2 am! the police made life difficult for us - they were ignorant about the printed email match tickets which they claimed were not valid and sent us to the ticket office. Waste of time afterwards they wouldn't let us go directly back to our car despite is clearly being English!

It's so frustrating being the better side the whole game and dropping two points. Oh, and congratulations for your first ever win in the CL! Your fans are like a choir. Can you translate this for us? Looking forward to seeing this lot marching down Raw Dykes Road.
UPinCarolina Posted 15 September 2016 Posted 15 September 2016 Have only seen the first half so far, but thought we looked much more like the 2015-16 Leicester than the 2016-17 Leicester that we've seen to date. Midfield was producing solid chances, which seems to have been lacking. Wes keeps getting caught too high and having to rush back to get into position. I'm hoping the defense can be sorted about before we run into a CL side that can finish.

Well it's basically just "Porto until the end, oh oh oh, na na na, we give our life for you; Porto you are our life; winning or losing, the blue and white crest, since the day we were born...Porto we give our life for you". It's basically just that, but there are some parts difficult to understand.
Bryn Posted 15 September 2016 Posted 15 September 2016 Thought we were brilliant tonight, in total control. A very poised, professional performance, not always as bombastic as we are at our best but got the job done with plenty to spare.
Vardinio'sCat Posted 15 September 2016 Posted 15 September 2016 CR said he wanted Slim to take the penalty! Kudos to Riyad for not listening...
