Nigel Pearson suspended by Derby

The blokes career will be over after this.

Love what he's done for the club but two high profile falling outs in 18 months pretty much makes him undesirable now.

Mel Morris can have a somewhat aggressive temperament, some that worked for him (not at Derby) mentioned this, but can also be very supportive and understanding. Suppose it was a personality clash in a dire situation.

We were pretty decent against Bristol City and Ipswich (even McCarthy was amazed they got out of the winners) and looked to have turned a corner, but this team we have can't seem to maintain performance and a shocker is always around the corner.

We don't know what's happened behind the scenes, but it was always going to go one of two way with him and Morris, either they were going to get on like a house on fire.... or come to blows.. because Morris is hands on, whereas the owners at your club watch from afar and don't get involved.

I wish him well though, I actually like the bloke, he's a good manager and will find another club imo, hopefully its a club with owners like your lots as opposed to our clown.

I have a mate who's a Bristol City fan and he confirms this. He said Derby were clearly the better team against them (despite their decent start) and should have won.

This explanation makes sense: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/sep/27/derby-county-nigel-pearson-stay-away-cardiff-championship

"Pearson met Morris at Derby’s training ground on Monday to discuss in part the club’s poor start to the season and it is understood the conversation became extremely heated. Morris also had other concerns about Pearson’s general approach and the club have opened an internal investigation in the wake of the incident"

Doesn't sound as if Powell is blaming Pearson, even dedicating last night's win to him!

We all know that NP is a pretty uncompromising character (often a good quality, not a bad one, if you're a capable leader who mainly makes good decisions). It sounds as if the mistake he's made is going to a club where he wasn't going to be given the freedom to lead. After all he did for LCFC, I hope he's able to bounce back from this. He proved his ability over 5-6 years at LCFC and I'm sure he can do so again....if he gets offered and accepts the right job next time. I wish Derby well (honestly), but hate to see owners intervening in day-to-day football management.

NP has his faults (bless him) but I'd never take him for someone who took bungs etc. He's seems too self-righteously moral for that. I wouldn't say he's old school (because bungs are rife in the old school) but he has his credo and he sticks by it. (Cripes knows what his credo is though! He's a weird one is NP!)

However, tell me he lost it and nutted someone THEN I'd believe it!

I think the timing is co-incidence.  During his time here, there were stories of bullying and arrogance, all of which were trashed by the Pearsonites.

Well here we are again.  Although I suppose this'll be their chairmans fault.

Nigel is a talented manager no doubt.  Unfortunately he's not got the intelligence to recognise that he cant keep acting like a total bellcheese.

Bullying and arrogance from where? Whenever I've heard stuff from the majority of the players who were successful here they tend to speak highly of him. You're only going off stuff you've "heard" and you're doing it again for this matter at Derby. Nobody knows what's gone off. "Explosive row with the owner" I could believe because Morris also seems to have a reputation but then again we don't know.

As for "Pearsonites" lets not go there again good grief. The guy led us to the top flight after 11 years.

And yet players he consistently left out of the team and phased out have praised him. Gallagher, Wellens, Howard are example of players he 'froze out' yet have been recorded as saying what a good bloke he is. Given there's a decent amount of time passed now since his departure, I'm sure someone would have spoken up.

One of the stories in Derby and the most feasible is that Pearson and Idiakez were drinking on the morning of the match. It was the final straw for the chairmen who consistently wanted to discuss the poor form with Pearson.

Whilst there's a reoccurring theme for Pearson, there's a similar reoccurring them for Derby here where managers are clashing with Mr Candy Crush.

He did appoint him as manager not coach like his predecessors and did he really not look into what Pearson is about did his time at Leeds make Clough a bad manager? We are talking Derby here but this is a team that finished 8th in a 2 horse race a couple of seasons back and an owner last season who said promotion was not important. If he didn't bring Pearson in to clear out the deadwood and build something what did he bring him in for. Clearly some still have a problem with Pearson but personally I look at his time at Southampton, Hull and twice with us and think we he left were all these teams in a better place than before he got their and a greatly increased player value for the teams he left. Think most would acknowledge more success than failure tbf

I said in the other thread that I couldn't see Pearson getting on with the chairman after he went into the dressing room when Clement was manager and gave the players a bollocking. It was obvious that something like this would happen eventually, a bit quicker than I imagined though.

A lot of Derby fans wont admit the last part though, and esp those who attend Morris's happy breakfast meetings, DCFCfans.uk forum are banning anyone who criticises him, and what forums mods and owner turn up to his breakfast party's???? lol

Pearson might have his faults and don't we all, but Morris loves to throw his weight around.

This!!!!.. It seems Morris can't make his mind up, one minute he wants a head coach type boss, one who abides to the clubs remit ("Derby Way"), the next he's sacking him and bringing in someone to rip it all up and build his own team etc, then sacks him 3 months into it... now we're talking head coach again.

Sorry fellow Derby fans... but we've got a total loony running the club.

I thought people on here were taking the piss when they were saying that Derby fans actually think they have a particular brand of football.

Its not the derby way.. its morris's way or down the job centre way.

The only managers we'll be getting are one's who want a quick pay cheque after being sacked for 4 months work.. no manager wanting to build a reputation will touch us imo.

Allardyce is the perfect fit then:P

I think given time he'd have got them promoted. He's never had a start like this though.

I remember when he first came back to us we looked poor for 6 months and then all of a sudden, brilliant.

His craziness was actually quite beneficial to us the majority of the time, not to mention entertaining but Chairmen aren't going to put up with it.

Their loss IMO.

Presumably gardening leave I suspect?

This incident, whatever it was, and whilst at LCFC will tarnish his respect/reputation further. Hence would suit a club like Villa etc.

So much gardening leave recently, he might as well just quit football for good and became a full time gardener

Don't think that's a good idea imo.

If he got angry, he'd stamp on the plants leaving customers livid. :P

Nigel doesn't take any sh*t, and stays true to his values, which I respect - but he's maybe chosen the wrong career for that!

Having said that he's probably done very well from it and feels he's not in a position where he has to!

The plants clearly deserve it.

Serves them right for being so arrogant.

Their roots must be in the sand.
