How long are you going to give Ranieri?

It's the million dollar question that no one dares ask.

Is he unsackable? I'd say no, but I don't think you'd find a Leicester fan would want him sacked. However, I love my club more than I love Claudio, and if our worst fears were starting to come to fruition I would seriously consider a change...problem is what to? Who would come? As the Copenhagen fans said..."you're not famous any more". Our below pre-season will hurt us in many more ways than just on the field.....

We're a bit like that stunning bird you manage to land a date with only to find out she comes with baggage. Only a desperate washed up has been will want the job.

We can't allow ourselves to be relegated. The owners have a plan and relegation wouuld really screw us with the wages we have now. So i think he has until after christmas, if we are bottom 3 and still playing badly, he will be sacked. no doubt in my mind.

That is not what I want to happen though, I hope he stays

I think Ranieri doesn't currently has an answer to the problems at hand. He should be given time to find an answer.

I think we're suffering from the following:

1. Psychological hangover from achieving the highest accolade these players can strive to achieve.

2. Some of these players now earning far in excess of their actual worth - possibly gone to their heads / diminished their drive / upset other lower paid players.

3. Squad harmony seems to be rattled - new players coming in, other players not able to deal with it mentally (e.g. Vardy / Slimini situation, maybe).

4. Poor pre-season plan, what a ****ing joke that has turned out to be.

5.  Ageing, exposed centre-backs with no protection in front of them - Kante leaving.

6. Lack of experienced midfield players to sit alongside Drinkwater - biggest failing of the summer imo - letting Kante go without replacing him was suicidal. Buying Mendy WAS NOT ENOUGH.

7. England call-ups / lack of call-ups + playtime affecting Drinkwater and Vardy.

There's more I'm sure but I've only just woken up and can't think of them right now.

He has a LOT of work to do as far as I'm concerned. January can't come quick enough and we need to spend some serious money to overhaul certain areas of this team. Huth and Morgan will never perform like last season again. Drinkwater needs a quality partner or he will leave out of pure frustration.

However, Ranieri is also making some crazy mistakes / allowing some awful things to happen and he HAS to take responsibility for it:

1. Continuing to play 442 without Kante. This isn't going to work. We're overrun.

2. Allowing awful, awful hoofball. We've gone from being one of the quickest, prettiest counter-attacking teams to making ****ing Stoke look like Barcelona. It's horrible to watch. My face hurts from cringing so much.

3. Lack of ambition - 'we only need 40 points' etc. is not good enough and hardly inspirational talk.

4. Basically admitting to throwing games before CL games. Why not just hand over the 3 points before the game and save everyone a ****ing journey and waste of 90 minutes?

Again, I'm sure there's more.

So - we can all be 'happy-clappers' living in the glory of last year or we can be honest with ourselves and be vocal about the issues above so they get addressed. I don't want to see Ranieri sacked, of course not BUT I ****ing die a little inside when I think about how embarrassing we've become since WINNING THE ****ING LEAGUE - JUST LAST YEAR. It's not good enough - the band of brothers who I felt so proud of has been disbanded and replaced with a bunch of overpaid pretenders. Just, not, good, enough.

Ranieri achieved the pinnacle of his long career last season..

He'll retire after his time here.

At his age/ time life is he up to the fight ahead to keep us up?

If we're in the bottom three at Christmas (which is more than likely),  he'll be gone!

..Cambiasso to return to save us as Player /Manager?

Just like Pearson I will give the manager as long as the owners give him, never booed the manager or the team, in all the years I've followed Leicester I've only ever let rip at one player during one match and that was Sven's last signing who let both this club and the then manager down, pretty certain he heard me too after he let yet another ball be miss controlled into touch from a good position.

All that talk on here of CR having his own statue outside the stadium was only six short months ago. How quickly things have changed...

Totally disagree with this. If Ranieri was to go (and I don't want him too) then I think plenty of good managers would be interested in the job. Great owners, great infrastructure, ambition, strong finances, good players. The LCFC job is a very good one make no mistake.

is it that hard to understand?

he still deserves a ****ing statue outside the ground for what he did LAST SEASON but that doesn't excuse the poor decisions he appears to be making THIS SEASON.

people have a right to be concerned with what they are witnessing at this exact moment in time - he can't be excused from all criticism because of what he achieved last year.

I've put 12% on my department sales turnover this year but I don't expect for one second I won't be pulled into the directors office next year if my figures end up 12% down again. That is how the world works - anyone who thinks otherwise is living in dreamland tbh.

He still deserves one, then again Banks deserved one too for being a Leicester player who helped England win the world cup and there are a few others but we currently have no statues, maybe the supporters should lobby the club or something?

If we haven't improved the squad after January and show no signs of trying to rectify the issues then I'll lose patience with him.

For now, it's obvious that as a club we've done pretty much everything wrong since we won the league. I'd like to think in January we should see the club trying to improve again.

His hands are pretty much tied at the minute though. Didn't watch the game yesterday, but the stats suggest it was a fairly close game. Hoping to catch the highlights on goals on sunday.

He doesn't leave, no matter what, unless he wants to. We owe him that at the very least.

Unless we get relegated, I don't care :)

I find it hard to compare regular economy with professional football. We all know the latter oftentimes works in mysterious ways and let's not pretend that in the "real world", people have also mysteriously kept their jobs even if they've underperfomed massively, even getting an undeserved farewell payoff as part of the package (I'm thinking of the banking sector in particular).

On a sidenote and totally off-topic, let's just for a moment assume capitalism is a bit of a sick concept (surely not as bad as others, but still), then I wonder what good it does to people chasing after profit year in, year out. Clearly you understand for one to make a surplus in sales means somebody else on this globe has to pay for it by a (equivalent) drop in sales or decreasing wages, losing benefits, etc., as well. We all have to make a living somehow, but I do wonder why we have so many people suffering as a consequence when they're somewhat forced to chase after the money for the majority of their lives. That can't be healthy in the long run.

Agree he needs to be given some more time but am astonished some on here would still stand by him even if we got relegated!

Im not expecting us to go and win the league or even finish in the top 6 this season, but by no means do I think we should be in the bottom 6 at the end of the season, let alone relegated.  If we're in the bottom 3 after the Christmas fixtures, serious questions need to be asked about Claudio. Hopefully he turns it round well before then.

Edited to add: If he does have to go, my choice as replacement would be Shakespeare until the end of the season.

As long as he needs.

In one of the toughest periods yet, no point in pressurising him as he has vast managerial experience under his belt where in other times he has solved problems successfully.

Posted

You've got to give him January.

I can see us doing a serious amount of business in both directions.

If a big team comes in for Mahrez/Chilwell/Drinkwater/Kasper can you see them willing to stick around?

Their stock may fall in terms of value and wage demands by the time the season ends and they may not get big offers again.

Then you have the likely exits of Jeff and Ulloa, and the probability of us buying a midfielder and defender or two.

Posted

Look my answer will be no time soon but what I will say is like i've said about the players, we'll be forever thankful for last season but they cannot use last season to excuse them for such shockingly poor form this season.

Posted

I think it will be interesting who the head of recruitment brings in, in January... if we are in the bottom three in late march then Off with Ranieri's head!

Posted

He's clueless and too nice.

Shouting "GO, GO, GO" every time Mahrez get the ball is all he has to offer from the sidelines.

And yesterday shouting to Albrighton "it's ok, Marc, it's ok" when he played yet another shit ball without looking up.  He should be letting him know.

He sticks with 442 even though we've lost that freak of nature, Kante, and replaces him with King, then Amartey, then King, then Amartey.  No consistency.

We're clearly struggling, particularly in the midfield, and he needs to pack another player in there and revert to a 352 / 451 and pick up points on the road.

It's becoming a ****ing joke.  And for those who say "he needs to come to terms with winning the league and managing the players' mentalities after winning the league"...well that's his job.  He should be experienced enough to know how to deal with this a lot better.
