Disturbing stats

Prior to the January transfer window i was struggling to find a team worse than us in the premier league apart from maybe Hull City.

Now that every team around us has strenghtened their team i certainly can't see any teams worse than us.

We WILL be in the relegation zone after next weekend and we WONT get back out of it.

Palace will be fine, Sunderland will scrape through and Swansea will continue to pick up points.

Us, Hull and Middlesborough will go down.

We were bottom of the league for 140 days in 2014/15 and stayed up

But we were actually playing ok then. We've been woeful all this season. I've not seen anything in the league all season that suggests we're going to get out of trouble. Defence can't defend, strikers don't score and the midfield is impotent. Oh, and the manager doesn't have any track record of getting out of sticky, scrappy situations...

We were bottom of the league for 140 days in 2014/15 and stayed up. We haven't been in the drop zone for a single day yet. Don't worry, I'm not crazy, we are definitely in a relegation battle and in big trouble. Just more making the fact that you can pick stats to support any particular argument.

You're right,  difference is back then we could play football and had a bIt of spirit. Every game was a hard luck story... now we're getting everything we deserve. We look a far worse team than we did back then despite spending about £110m.

One of two things is going to happen;

we continue to struggle and become the most spectacularly relagated team in history

or........ some how;

we conjure up the greatest escape part 2

i praying for the 2nd scenario

Actually, it wasn't an argument. I was making the point that you can cherry pick stats to support any argument. I even made it clear in my post that we're in big trouble. But thanks for not reading my post properly and, if anything, supporting it with your reply. You're 100% right, the 140 day stat is totally irrelevant.

I indeed misread your post. Apologies.

Vardy not scored in 21 of his last 22 games

And he will still play every game until the end of the season. The sooner he is out of the team the better imo. We may actually pass the ball along the deck.

I wonder what our stats are for most consecutive passes to a team mate are before losing possesion. Last night against Burnley I counted no more than 3 passes before we either gave the ball away or just hoofed it up field. I also cant remember the last time I saw one of our central midfields get a foot on the ball and drive forward with the ball to create a chance. Just give it to Morgan or Fuchs and see how hard you can hit it up field. Craig Levein all over again :(

Just saw an article on January goal of the month on Sky Sports. As usual, thought about whether we would have any contenders before realising we didn't even score in January. FML.

scoring first?

I reckon we have about three points from games in which we've conceded first. In other words once we're behind we stay behind..

You're right

Tottenham, conceded first. 1 point

Middlesbrough, conceded first, 1 point

Stoke, conceded first, 1 point

The other 3 draws came from 0-0s against Arsenal, Southampton and Middlesbrough.

Abysmal doesn't begin to describe this shambles.

Plus Dominated by Derby from a lower division

Tbf we weren't at all. We controlled most of that game, had more chances and deserved to win. For all the negatives - rightly so - I saw nothing to suggest Derby should beat us.

Some of us mentioned stats like these, and others, many weeks ago. They were generally dismissed.

The numbers of assists from the midfielders, the numbers of goals conceded, the numbers of tackles won, the numbers of shots on target etc etc etc.

Now they ARE being analyzed. They are important. They show how we are playing.

And they are dire.

It shows a team that can't score enough, that leaks goals like a sieve and that has a midfield which is Championship level at best.

Look at the stats. They generally tell a pretty clear story.

Are there any stats on how many headers and second balls we win from kick outs from goal & long balls?

I was watching this last night & my distinct impression was that Burnley not only won most of the headers (from their goal kicks as well as ours), but that they also picked up a far greater number of the second balls and lay-offs from those headers.

On Sunday vs Man United. Then 3 more against Swansea the week after.

Heard on talk sport that NK won a premier league record number of tackles last night. 16 I think.

Not winging or grieving, just saying in a disturbing stats thread.

We are a laughing shambles at the moment. I am ashamed to say this but the team and management are a disgrace to my football club, the workers and all the loyal fans. We were Champions of England can you believe it - there is no way that with a modicum of effort we should be where we are and we are the only club in the bottom six failing to show any sign of life.
