mahrez555 Posted 5 March 2017 Posted 5 March 2017 Not sure if this has been talked about before but, do you think Leicester use a form of gegenpressing? Haven't seen it mentioned in any media outlets but, watching the two games under Shakespeare it seems like we do

Now ive wasted 15 seconds.
Stadt Posted 5 March 2017 Posted 5 March 2017 The english translation is counterpressing. It means immediately pressuring the opposition after losing the ball rather than quickly retreating into defensive shape if you didn't know. Good explanation here: http://spielverlagerung.com/2014/10/07/counter-or-gegenpressing/
ZeGuy Posted 5 March 2017 Posted 5 March 2017 Gegenpressing, das ist etwas wovon ich schon gehört habe (is something I already heard about). Gegenpressing (counter pressing) is pressing as soon as the ball is lost. Tactic which was intensively used by Barcelona under Pep. Klopp is also a great fan of it and used it successfully while at Borussia Dortmund. Consists in harassing the opponent as soon as they get the ball and not letting them play as they want. One goes for the ball and three block the possible pass paths. Extremely intensive in terms of efforts and an absolute discipline in the defending phase are required. Edit: We press high (last season + Shakey these last two games) but don't play the gegenpressing.
murphy Posted 5 March 2017 Posted 5 March 2017 I think it's more that we tend to employ a form of flugelhaussen
StanSP Posted 5 March 2017 Posted 5 March 2017 we don't have Klopp managing us so even if we were doing it, it can't be labelled for us.
Sharpe's Fox Posted 5 March 2017 Posted 5 March 2017 All this fvcking hipster bollocks "gegenpressing" ect. it's called closing down
Vacamion Posted 5 March 2017 Posted 5 March 2017 The term more appropriate for our style of play this season up to last week is "herumwichsen".

theessexfox Posted 5 March 2017 Posted 5 March 2017 Pretty sure teams tried to win the ball back before Guardiola was around.
Vlad the Fox Posted 5 March 2017 Posted 5 March 2017 To me it looks like we press hard after losing the ball, if we don't retrieve it quickly we then drop into a defensive shape. No big secret as I'm sure I've heard our Ranieri, Shakespeare mention it last season. one thing I did notice on Saturday, though it might be because we've been poor for so long, but we seemed to play an aggressive possession game in the hull half at times, looking to move the ball quickly across and between the lines, one such move nearly resulted in a goal. Though this could have been due to the opposition or the fact that I've forgot we used to pass after so long of watching us hoof it.
Sharpe's Fox Posted 5 March 2017 Posted 5 March 2017 Only on the internet are words like "gegenpressing" and "catenaccio" actually used neither have never been said between normal human beings in a conversation, it's all just for prîcks
Webbo Posted 5 March 2017 Posted 5 March 2017 Must admit I'd never heard of this until last week. I think our tactics are closer to this
Vlad the Fox Posted 5 March 2017 Posted 5 March 2017 So Klopp hadn't worked out that our defence was uncomfortable with the ball at their feet. Mug.

Danizen Posted 5 March 2017 Posted 5 March 2017 We employ a gegenpress system similar to the great Peru team of 1985 and we all know how successful they were. We also utilise a false 9 but the default position of Shinji makes him more of a 9 and a half. Or a false false 9 which is to say a regular number 9. Riyad gets a lot of success when he's used as a raumdeuter. Craig is a genius. If he grew a beard and wore a leather jacket on the touchline, he'd be perfect. I'd also respect him a hell of a lot more if he was Spanish.
