We need 1 goal to take it to extra time and pens and 2 to win. If they get an away goal we need 3 goals

Thanks dude.

On our biggest night it was nice to see the original kit that I remember from the '70s with white shorts and socks. A result of them in blue but still good. Also pleased MON part of it albeit as pundit.

I don't get this mahrez was dreadful trend, i thought he was more than ok. Gave the ball away a couple of times but so did Drinky.

What's Drinky got to do with it. Either Mahrez was dreadful (he was) or he wasn't.

We are still alive!! :)

Drinky and Mahrez need their top game if we are going to have chance in games like this and they really did not bring their top game. The difference in the passing was immense. Benny showed he has ability at this level and he will take MotM for me with all his clearings. NDD did amazing work too and Kingys covering of channels helped nullify them a bit 2nd half.

Okazaki didnt impress me tonight.

Can't blame vardy didn't have too many chances.

Mahrez was good and bad.

Benny outstanding.

Réf was terrible

Shakey was good to take off Okazaki and bring un King, made thé difference

Centre backs were amazing. Everyone else may as well not have been been there.

We were well outclassed, yet robbed by the referee, and no one can convince me he wasn't under some incentive to give decisions to Atletico.

Tactically and individually I thought we were poor and it's going to be very tough. I accept we've got worse players but we really didn't give ourselves a chance to score the away goal.

I just wish we'd have had a go.

lol

'had a go'

By which you mean attack?

And leave space?

And guarantee at least a 3 or 4 goal loss?

Honestly the lack of understanding for a game people on here spend so much time following is truly baffling.

Thought Benny took the MOTM in terms of sentimentality, but for me, Albrighton kept the game alive from start to finish, MOTM for me.

I'd suggest anyone critical of Mahrez performance tonight rewatches the game and look at him again.

It from the usual attacking flare we are used to seeing from him, but from a work rate and defensive point of view.

He did the things tonight Gray wouldn't have done, hence why Gray didn't come in for him.

We set out our tactics for a result and got it, or would have got a better result but for an appalling refereeing decision.

Well played lads, bring on Tuesday

Hey man, I got to have me that scapegoat. Just give mahrez the ball and stand there watching, no need to help him whatsoever.

Just so we are clear this is a worse result than 2-1 at Sevilla. The Performance was better but not the result.

End of the day, it's a result and means we're still in the tie... against a side who are recent 2x finalists and with an astonishing home record in the competition.

Thing is though, they didn't look anything special, and don't forget they were at home

I think that's a great way to put it. It's frustrating the ref got the penalty decision wrong becasue from that point onwards though they did attack, they never really had a clear cut opportunity. Well maybe the one with Torres when he slipped, but you are right, they didn't look special. When up against Seville I was literally hiding behind my sofa at times.

But of course this is the Atletico way. Grind you down rather than rip you to pieces. In some ways they are what Floyd Mayweather is to boxing.

Return leg will be tough but it could have bee a LOT worse. Prefer a 1-0 loss to a 3-1 loss for example, although 2-1 is better than 1-0 in European football!

We have to play Slimani second leg rather than Okazaki. And be ready to use Gray as an impact sub second half. Reckon we can get a goal or two, but not sure whether we can avoid conceding

And our away record isn't great either. We CAN do this.

Slightly disappointed with the lack of ambition, I don't think we're good when we park the bus. That said, given the ref, we've escaped intact.

So we were all underwhelmed by the production from Okazaki and Mahrez.

My one complaint is that they never started running through challenges and minor fouls.  OK it's frustrating but if you didn't get the last five calls, what makes you think you'll get the next one(s)?  Wise up and Shinji, try to stay on your feet and Riyad, don't swan dive over a withdrawn leg.

TBF Riyad did track back to support the defense much more than usual tonight.  Would like to know if the game plan had anything to do with that.

As I said as soon as the draw was made, Atletico were probably the best draw we could have gotten, with the exception of Dortmund. Apart from Griezmann, they are not a side full of flair. They are solid, grind you down and eke out wins.

Tonight, I think Shakey set us up exceptionally well. And I do mean exceptionally. We limited them to very few real chances and we now have a very real chance of progressing through to the semis.

An away goal would have been nice, but we didn't look like sneaking one..we just weren't set up to.

Finally...can we not play a match at the Vicente Calderon without having to suffer a fookin cheat of a referee?! Again, tonight... he gave us just about nothing.

Not happy and not too disappointed

Didn't deserve to win, but it wasn't a penalty...and Kasper didn't have to make a save for the rest of the game...
