foxes_rule1978 Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 What I have seen tonight makes me confident we will beat them at the KP and well
EastAnglianFox Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 Huth's best game for months, he was an absolute monster!! Felt at half time both teams were happy to call it a day at 1-0
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 A great result - but can we become more of a threat at home? Maybe we need to work on a slightly different formation in training for the home game to allow us to have 3 in central midfield but maintain Mahrez and Albrighton out wide?

This is Athletico Madrid not Rotherham Utd

There is no way you can get a result like that, with 8 men against a team Like Athletico. Cant even imagine who the 3 are your referring to not showing up. Clueless Okazaki, Mahrez and Drinkwater.
Melbourne Fuchs Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 I see where you are coming from now @ZeGuy, Benny was brilliant today. We were unlucky to get stuck with a dodgy ref, but that should just make the atmosphere all the more hostile at the KP. I'm starting to notice that we have a habit of making world-class teams look very average when we're on top of our game.

Everyone had off moments tonight, Drinky gave it away, as did Albrighton, but Mahrez was like that all night.
Cadno'r Cymoedd Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 Very good result though Atletico like 1-0s. Some great performances. Benny was top and Albrighton, dodgy penalty challenge aside, was excellent too. Great tactically by Shakey at HT. game on!!!
Devonfox1884 Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 Butterfly effect lads, had then pen not been given it may have ended 4-0, we may have won 1-0, we'll never know. Take the result and move on.

The point is that we are still in the tie with a chance. Well done lads and the fans - great job. He's not shown his skills almost all season, hes predictable, light weight and teams have completely sussed him out, excellent team performance tonight but I think grey offers more than mahrez imo

kingfox Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 Quality, Atletico were fvcking boring tonight. Benny MOTM, great response after his disastrous performance against Everton.

Yes - Simeoné won't know what's hit him at the king power!!
foxes_rule1978 Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 Madrid cheated us out of that one, but I feel a comfortable 2 nil win at home for us, they arent that good

Take the fine and get everyone rested for Tuesday. we are safe from relegation and may as well go for this. Its not impossible. 1 goal and this game heats up massively. Playing the reserves against Everton didn't help tonight. We looked knackered, scared and never once looked like we'd create a chance, let alone score. Resting players is a nonsense.

It's just a shame their goal came from a dodgy penalty decision rather than a moment of class. On the the plus side the tie is still very much alive and o can't wait for the game at the KP on Tuesday! The atmosphere will be amazing. Shame Huth picked up a yellow, but At least Vardy and Ndidi are available for the second leg. Overall, not a bad result, all to play for! come on Leicester!!!!!! Yeah know what you mean but on the flip side the players should take confidence from the fact that they didnt score from a moment of class and that they cancelled them out.

King was put on to tighten up the midfield and allow Ndidi to drop in to mark Griezmann. I questioned the substitution at first but it was a great tactical decision to help stop Griezmann
AyewJoking Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 Never looked like scoring and unlucky to lose. Huth and Benny very good. Drinkwater and mahrez crap.
SlaneyLCFC Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 Daft question but this means we now need 2 goals and also keep a clean sheet on Tuesday?
Foxhateram Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 Hated watching that. Can absolutely see the tactic and why we did it. But they weren't anything overly special at all and we've rolled over and let them tickle our bellies. Going 4-5-1 at half term was really quite disheartening. I thought we could have nicked a goal had we gone at them. But I must admit that the sub did qual their danger. It just prevented us from creating anything at all. We can't afford to let them play out from the back at the KP. They will find the space and undo us and an away goal for them kills it for us. Back to what we do best next game please lads. None of this sit deep malarky. Back to high pressing, high pressure, fast paced football please. We are still in it though and a 1-0 away at the caldaron is a phenomenal result. So well done lads. Never a pen either, some of the cards were iffy and had Mahrez kept running rather than started to fall, he would have been genuinly caught and a pen would/should have been given. Ref was pretty inconsistent in my opinion.
tylesta Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 I'd of been happy with a away goal not to confident now. We got to attack them Tuesday and athletico looked decent tonight but they are just as good sitting back counter attacking.

Well done lads and the fans - great job. its a bit much to ask Mahrez to do it all on is own - even the best players benefit from other players being in passing lanes / making runs. The guy tended to have 3 players rush to close him down as soon as he got a touch.
Chester Dontlie Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 Sir Benny MOTM all defenders and Ndidi are heroes and the ref is a CNUT Mahrezinho and Drinky only slightly less invisible than King, massive disappointment in such a big game We'll bang them at KP though. Onwards & upwards!!!
