Gazza M Posted 17 April 2017 Posted 17 April 2017 With Premier survival pretty much assured, I think we are going to have to take risks with fitness of some of the lads and go for broke. Morgan has to play, regardless of the consequences tomorrow night, as does Simpson and Benny Kasper Simpson Morgan Benny Fuchs Mahrez Drinkwater Ndidi Albrighton Okazaki Vardy Subs: Zieler, Chilwell, King, Amartey, Gray, Ulloa, Musa
Guest Danny Clender Posted 17 April 2017 Posted 17 April 2017 Agree with the fans requirements here, although I'd say its little patronising to think some people will watch this quietly, no doubt everybody inside Leicestershire and beyond will make Athletico the most welcomed and most intimitadated team ever. Morgan has to play, I think the signs sound encouraging. The suspected Fuchs CB plan doesn't give me much confidence, but if that's our plan then so be it. My only question with the line up is Okazaki or Slimani? As we saw, AM nullified the Leggenpresse, which was a big factor why Okazaki came off at half time. I know King was needed to control Greizemann, but Oka was irrelevant as they bypassed him with ease. I doubt they'll change this tactic, so would Slimani be a better option to put chances away? I'm really not so sure.

leicesterseddon Posted 17 April 2017 Posted 17 April 2017 I'd be tempted to start with Ulloa to be honest. With the way Atletico play, there may be no point playing Okazaki - there certainly wasn't in the first leg. I thought he played well on Saturday and gave us something different with his ability to win & hold the ball upfield. He certainly does this better than Slimani - who can head at goal but is (surprisingly) bad at winning balls in the air.
Leamington Fox Posted 17 April 2017 Posted 17 April 2017 To me it really is a mystery why CR and CS clearly don't fancy Amartey as potential cover at CB, given that he did so well there in the AFCON. Don't get me wrong, he would be far from my ideal starting XI in that position, but, from my position of ignorance, I would have thought him preferable covering with Benny than Fuchs or Ndidi. What everyone seems to agree on, however, is that Was should hang up his City boots.
st albans fox Posted 17 April 2017 Posted 17 April 2017 plenty of teams cover a centre back crisis with a full back - an experienced FB who is decent in the air should be capable of doing it however, losing Fuchs on the left side behind albrighton will remove a big chunk of our attacking improvement since ranieri left, especially at home
Thracian Posted 17 April 2017 Posted 17 April 2017 Atletico fans have been getting riled about reactionary Facebook threats with Cliff Ginnetta and others saying it's "only a game" and suggesting we should all be friends really. CG can speak for himself all he likes and our quarter final might be played on a piece of pitch with a football but it's no more "just a game" than a night with Julia Roberts in her prime would be "just a date". If that's all the passion he can arouse for arguably the biggest game of our history he's turned even the word placid to flacid. I don't condone Facebook threats in any way. They're usually shallow anyway. But does CG really think those who were unfairly involved in the violent law enforcement in Spain,or who watched the consequence of such widely-reported bullying of uninvolved people, are just going to forget it? Like those law enforcers would, of course, if it were their wives, friends or kids being walloped for no reason?. Authority? It's just used as an excuse to bully people by some and should never be condoned where innocent people are the victims, despite those apologists who would seem to excuse any action by anyone by a uniform so long as there's a modicum of provocation, or even none at all, if "orders" were issued. No....every one of the innocents caught up in the pre-match baton-bashing will remember it for the rest of their lives never mind into the week afterwards. I just hope Leicester's law enforcers set their own example. An exemplary one. An example of contained, fair-minded responsibility, starting with smiles and a bit of gentle persuasion. And show those responsible for last week's assaults - specifically where unprovoked - exactly the contempt they deserve. Our politicians, some of our media manipulators and people like CG would see us friends with everyone. And doubtless some Atletico fans will be worth sharing a drink with, no question. But lasting friendship has to be earned and demonstrated. Anything else is just contrived bullshit. A PR pretence really. And why anyone condoning the whacking of onlookers with batons would ever have any friends other than among his own kind, is beyond me. http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/leicester-city-fans-react-to-claim-of-twitter-threats-to-atletico-madrid-supporters/story-30274172-detail/story.html

Shinji was pretty redundant first leg I agree, but I question Ulloa or Slims ability to play 90, so I'd rather start with Shinji an bring on either Ulloa or Slim at 45 or 60 when holding the ball up, if we have scored or a goal threat will be needed if we haven't yet scored.
lcfcfoz Posted 17 April 2017 Posted 17 April 2017 kasp, fuchs, morgan, ben, simpson, mahrez, drinkwater, ndidi, albrighton, vardy, slimani, win 3-1
FraserSorensen Posted 17 April 2017 Posted 17 April 2017 Not sure if already been covered, but think the yellow card/suspensions needs clearing up ahead of Tuesday. As of the semi finals, any yellow cards already accrued are wiped, however suspensions are not - put simply, if Jamie Vardy, Islam Slimani or Wilfried N'Didi get a yellow card against Atletico on Tuesday, and Leicester progress to the semi finals, they will still be suspended for the 1st leg. At least no other players are at risk should we do the unthinkable and get through! Need to keep a lid on Vards!
Harry - LCFC Posted 17 April 2017 Posted 17 April 2017 In addition to what's been said above, a small number of people also don't know the away goal rule. If the aggregate score is level at the end of normal time but Atletico have an away goal then they will go through. We must either win 1-0 to take it to extra time or win by two goals or more and go straight though. 5 hours ago, FraserSorensen said: Not sure if already been covered, but think the yellow card/suspensions needs clearing up ahead of Tuesday. Edingleyfox Posted 17 April 2017 Posted 17 April 2017 Agree Leo would offer something different and I am not sure how good they are at defending crosses - they looked vulnerable against Real although they still did well.Actually thought Atletico looked a bit nervous on the odd occasion Slimani got the ball when he came on maybe they know him from Sporting but his physical presence helped.Their full backs seemed to deal with Jamie and Okazaki struggled on Wednesday. However at home may hopefully be a different story so expect no changes up front .

Except to change Julia Roberts for Uma Thurman.
ozleicester Posted 17 April 2017 Posted 17 April 2017 I think we need to hit em hard and fast early... tempted to think we should start with Mahrez and Gray... scare the crap out of them with pure footballing talent, throw everything at them in the first 15 ........ Kasper............ DS... WM.... YB..... CF RM... DD... WN....MA... ...........DG........... ................JV..........
brucey Posted 17 April 2017 Posted 17 April 2017 Slimani (groin) out injured. Shame. We would have had a better chance with him as crosses are Atletico's weakness. Hernandez would have been really useful right about now, too... spare CB, La Liga experience, and deadly long throws that they don't know how to deal with.

Long throws are pointless now as we don't have Huth
Ted Maul Posted 17 April 2017 Posted 17 April 2017 The first 15 minutes are going to be explosive- I think both sides are going to try and get an early goal.
DelBoy73 Posted 17 April 2017 Posted 17 April 2017 We will need to score before the hour mark. I keep reading " throw the kitchen sink at them if we are still behind past the 60th minute ", won't work against Atleti. They are the most efficient time-wasters i have ever witnessed in 35 odd years of watching football, their gamesmanship is second to none : with half an hour remaining to play, you would think that we'd have plenty enough time to break them, but in fact, they will allow us hardly more than 10 minutes of actual game time. Every throws-in, goal kick and incident will be an excuse for cynical time-wasting, we will find us at the 90' in a blink of an eye and still behind. Let's start all guns blazing and hope for the best.
Guest MattP Posted 17 April 2017 Posted 17 April 2017 Given Albrighton played 90 minutes on Saturday does anyone have a feeling he might go with Gray from the start? These are going to so hard to break down we need to reign a lot of shots down from long range, if you get a chance to shoot go for it, we might even benefit from a deflection. What worries me now is the subs, we could end up using them all on players who are knackered instead of tactical reasoning,

We are caught between having to score and having to keep a clean sheet. He might play Ndidi as a holding midfielder instead of playing Okazaki but play Gray instead of Albrighton for more attacking flair. We might play 4-1-4-1 in this formation: Vardy Gray Drinkwater King Mahrez Ndidi
