Dan Posted 15 April 2017 Posted 15 April 2017 Do absolutely anything it takes. They would. Get on the refs back from the first minute and make it even more hostile than Sevilla.
Tuna Posted 15 April 2017 Posted 15 April 2017 We need a 300 style rallying cry from Big Wes prior to the game. THIS IS LEICESTA!

Guest Posted 15 April 2017 Posted 15 April 2017 Bloody hell, second leg of a champions league quarter final and Leicester are in it.....and not even out of it! Come on you Foxes! ****ing get into 'em!!!
Foxxed Posted 15 April 2017 Posted 15 April 2017 This is no time for untested tactical changes. But it's Saturday night. I've had a few beers. Let's try 3-4-3. A back three, two wing backs, a defensive midfielder, a creative midfielder and three strikers. Have Simpson, Benny and Fuchs bring up the back line. Then use Chilwell and Albrighton as wing backs: both will provide danger and protect us from counter attacks. And then use Ndidi sitting in front of the back three providing protection and half a chance of a screamer. Then use Drinkwater as the creative midfielder. Drinky has been dogo lately. And perhaps that is because he's been carrying a knock. Let's say the cryo chamber has been on full blast, the twelfth man urges him on and he's back to his usual self. He could then feed Mahrez on the right, a disruptive Shinji in the middle perhaps staying back a little and Vardy on the left. If we realise Drinkwater is still dogo then sub Gray on. Move Mahrez into the creative midfield role and use Gray as the right wing striker telling him that shooting on target and passing are fun things to do. And if Shinji is ineffective use Ulloa as a target man.

leicesterseddon Posted 15 April 2017 Posted 15 April 2017 The more I think about it, the more I think we're ****ed if Morgan can't play. I've run through the options and none of them is going to be anywhere near ideal. Frankly I don't trust Amartey at CB in a game like this. Fuchs at CB might just work but playing Chilwell at LB will be a bloodbath.

I'm never 100% sure about Chilwell, but as a left wing back with Fuchs in a back three it may be okay. If Morgan can't play I'd be more comfortable with that. Although it could be Amartey's time to shine!
Aus Fox Posted 15 April 2017 Posted 15 April 2017 Can't believe how much pessimism is on this thread. FFS we are in the last 8 of the Champions League, let's just decking enjoy it. As for team selection, although he is getting flack from some in here, Mahrez is our best, and most creative player, there is no way he is dropped for a game like this. Fuchs makes most sense at CB if Wes is not fit, go with experience rather than experiments in a game this big. Ndidi to sit deep again and Okazaki to play behind Vardy. Albrightons work rate means he has to play. Kasper Simpson Benny Fuchs (Wes if fit) Chilwell (Fuchs if Wes is fit) Mahrez Drinkwater Ndidi Albrighton Okazaki Vardy We don't need to go all out, keep it tight for 60, then throw the kitchen sink at them last half an hour. Gray for Okazaki and let Mahrez/Gray/Albrighton interchange and run at them. Whatever the outcome, enjoy the occasion! We are the last 8 of the Champions League!

Why is it madness? We offered nothing going forwards in the 1st leg and little against palace also! I'll happily eat my words though!

I was a little frustrated with the last 3-5 mins in Madrid an not going for it a little more, but ultimately the team was set out to keep us in the tie, we had little of the ball, but when we did we only had 2-3 bodies forward. The 2nd game will be more open, I believe the first 5-10 mins we will come out sharp, maybe even up to 15 or 20 mins. Mahrez, Vardy, Albrighton an Ndidi the players most likely to create anything will have much more of the ball, a home crowd, it's a completely different game. We will probably take 0-0 at HT. I didn't think Madrid looked that formidable in defence, I'm aware of their record, at home when we attack in numbers, WE WILL SCORE, the problem is how many we'll conceede.
chapero82 Posted 16 April 2017 Posted 16 April 2017 Sevilla I had a great feeling we would win that game and go through! I really don't feel like that this time! I think it may have something to do with the last time we had played them in Europe but I really can't see us going through!

The scoreline says we're still in this but I just feel it may be a step too far. I hope I'm wrong. Having said that I will be screaming like a loon and waving an imaginary card at every opportunity on Tuesday.

Happy Fox Posted 16 April 2017 Posted 16 April 2017 Our record at home is phenomenal, not many teams have come and beaten us, I think we will do it personally. Vardy and Mahrez with the goals and we will keep a clean sheat. Yes it will be intense pressure from Athletico, but we aren't used to having the ball and keeping possession. Come on City!

They didn't need to - they weren't under any pressure - what we did chuck at them first half they never looked troubled after the first over the top nearly caught them out. from my my perspective, we generally overpower teams at home at some point and then hang on. Sunderland was different in that we came stronger later. I wouldn't think this lot, with their intensity would not be a good idea to try and do that. we probably play chase the ball last half hour and then they pick us off as we tire. I think we have to try and get ahead first half to open the tie up and force them to score. I wasn't convinced that they didn't allow us to come forward in that period during the first half in order to create an opportunity for them to break behind us. They really are that confident in their defensive solidity. Simeone will be happy with a 0-0. somehow, we need to make them uncomfortable. That will be a massive ask for both the team and the fans. at least it will be a cold evening which is a start.
CosbehFox Posted 16 April 2017 Posted 16 April 2017 13 hours ago, Gerard said: They won't crumble, they're probably the most mentally strong team in Europe. They aren't - there is a fraility there because they are obsessed with this competition after failing to their rivals twice in two finals. Simeone has admitted it hurts them. My point is if you get them on the back foot at this moment, make them fear a little. Remember PSV were the closer side to knocking them out last season in the CL. They are very good at defending but id say they have never faced the true English style we can produce. I'm not talking about Gung Ho attacking. I mean when you raise the tempo to a quick level. When you cross, cleared, cross, cleared, cross. When the second ball is the king. When all options for an easy square pass are denied and all you can do is launch away a clearance. If they can survive that fair play. We will score. Can we stop them scoring us the issue. Particularly can we stop Griezmann playing between the lines.
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 16 April 2017 Posted 16 April 2017 Assuming Benny and Wes are fit enough they'll be the starting CB pairing. If one of them is out you've either got Amartey or Fuchs switching from LB. From yesterday's evidence it appears that Shakey really doesn't fancy Amartey there for whatever reason. If Benny AND Wes are out it'll be a disaster

It could be our last ever time in the champions league so we need to embrace it!
brockmyster Posted 16 April 2017 Posted 16 April 2017 I don't believe amartey at centre back would be the worse thing in this game. I wouldn't trust him in a Prem game due to play style but the way athleticos play it could work as he always reads the game quite well and won't have to deal too much aerially. Saying that I imagine Wes will be loaded up with every drug possible to get him out there Tuesday!
Karljohn Posted 16 April 2017 Posted 16 April 2017 I can see it being a long night, think we'll win it 1-0 over the 90 mins. Then its survival of the fittest.
RODNEY FERNIO Posted 16 April 2017 Posted 16 April 2017 Atletico have played 41 La Liga and CL games this season . We need two goals at least to go through. In those 41 games played they have only conceded two or more goals 7 times and have kept over 20 clean sheets. This ain't going to be easy.
