We don’t need a winter break but there needs to be less horrific scheduling. If the games were spread around slighty more it wouldn’t be half as bad.

Morata misses far too many chances, Costa would have had that game wrapped up for Chelsea if he was presented them chances.

Wenger moaning again, but no mention of the fact Wilshere should have been sent off for diving for a second yellow. The sooner he retires the better, although it's beautiful seeing his teams constantly bottle the league.

Oh yeah let’s have the first couple of months of domestic football interrupted by pointless internationals and then a winter break!

When exactly do we wanna play these games?

The best solution to me is to lose at least one game from the festive period, possibly two.

If it was one game id move it to the earliest available midweek slot ideally game week 1 with the exception of the champions league final qualifier team.

If two games are to be moved id move the second game to the last midweek slot of the season and play then.

Thins out the christmas period where there is no need to play football non stop, games played when players are fresher and on better pitches and better weather

Just seen Tony gale discussing Jack wilshere last night and having a pop at Vardy in the process

he says wilshere should get Retrospective punishment for him diving, he said “if you go down with a straight leg it’s a Guaranteed dive its the same way Jamie Vardy wins his penalties and it needs to stop”

What a bitter bastard.  When was the last time Vardy won a peno anyway?

And Vardy's dives are always a league above Wilshire's dive yesterday, that was just poor.  I wouldnt even called Jamie's dives, manufactured fouls, thats what they are :vardy:

A winter break would be filled with money making trans world tours for the big clubs.

For the smaller clubs players would lose match fitness.

It would also mean cramming more games in before and after the break.

Reduce the number of international breaks.

Smaller clubs could still play matches if needed. A winter break would be to give the players a break, the smaller squads may benefit from it. They aren’t gonna lose match fitness halfway though the season because they’ve had a couple of weeks off.

I know it had a good ending, but it wasn’t a brilliant game - it was decent but not outstanding.

Sky’s commentators bigging up their product there...

It swayed and twisted , great Mixture of Successfull and  attempted moves, successfull use of group , team and individual skill, I enjoyed every minute....I dont go cherry picking, for comparisons....too many other things going on...

Only watched the first half and I thought Arsenal, in particular, were excellent to watch.

The movement, technical ability and combinations were delightful.

Just seen Morata's missed chances from last night. Man cost about  £65m. Vardy would have buried at least 2 of those 3 chances.

Only strikers I would have over Vardy are Kane, Aguerro and Jesus.

Salah & Firmino are not strikers so they don't count.

Salah isn't a great finisher anyway. This Liverpool team are creating countless chances for him as he drifts in off the wing, but he misses a hat full. If he scores 2 in game he's probably missed another 8 clear chances.

If they're still playing matches then it's not a proper break. They can still maintain general fitness through training but not match fitness.

It certainly won't  benefit teams on a good run as they would likely lose momentum.

Yeah he is number 1 for missed chances Apparently he’s missed 15 clear chances this season according to OPTA stats

The rest of the top 5 are:

Alvaro Morata on 14.

Sergio Aguero on 12.

Gabriel Jesus on 11.

Christian Benteke on 11.

So the bigger teams don’t benefit because they’re playing games and the smaller teams don’t benefit because they aren’t playing games?

Yes and neither do the fans.

What would Sky and BT fill  their schedules with friendlies and eventually some drummed up competition.

All they need to do is reduce the number of games overall starting with some of those meaningless international friendlies

This is the issue - have a winter break and you'll find everyone in the Carabao Dubai Warm Weather Training Championships and such ridiculous tournaments alike. Remember the festive season is probably one of Sky's most popular times of year. A captive audience at home and football on many days of the festive season. Get paid by the piper and you dance to their tune.

Three weekends are reserved for the FA Cup rounds 3,4 & 5. You could easily do away with the round five weekend, arrange PL matches and postpone if a team is still in. Heck, if the schedule is that bad and the disdain for the FA Cup continues, move the tournament to midweek. (NOTE: Am not a proponent of this idea)

What doesn't help is the scheduling of the second round of the Champions League. It is spread over four separate weeks for some reason which rules out midweek fixture lists in that time. If they cut that back to two weeks that would free up some time to put one of these round of matches into.

Getting rid of some of those international breaks in autumn would help.
