MC Prussian Posted 8 July 2017 Posted 8 July 2017 I'm just trying to ignore the transfer sums mentioned this summer, just need to discover the right technique . £75m for Lukaku is just out of this world and just another proof that the money doesn't truly represent the quality anymore. There's so many rather mediocre players in the PL on big money, it's all so diluted. 1

They've got plenty of money now thanks to the Süle transfer to Bayern.

Wymsey Posted 8 July 2017 Posted 8 July 2017 (edited) Wouldn't be surprised if actually Stoke will struggle more than they did last season and get dragged in the battle. Their squad appears to be lacking in depth at the moment. Edited 8 July 2017 by Wymeswold fox
foxes21 Posted 8 July 2017 Posted 8 July 2017 Reckon it'll be a scrap between Burnley, Brighton, Huddersfield & Stoke.

Quite surprised Lukaku has gone there, as still feel Man United are a few more seasons away from being genuine title contenders imo. I have zero idea how their director of football is still in a job. Emeneko or whatever it is? Makes Rudkin look like Txixi Begiristain Edited 8 July 2017 by AjcW

Lionator Posted 8 July 2017 Posted 8 July 2017 Lukaku is the Jordan Rhodes of the Premier League. Scores goals and does nothing else, can actually be detrimental to his own team on occasions. A certain downgrade from Ibra.

What do you want a striker to do? Van Nistelrooy didn't run around he just sat in that 6 yard box but give him the ball and he'd convert. That's what you want from a striker, surely!? Lukaku is good but never struck me as great. Always seems like he needs three chances before he scores. Kane is more clinical.
Dan Posted 8 July 2017 Posted 8 July 2017 I definitely fancy Burnley to go. Finished poorly last year, have lost their best defender and could still lose Andre Gray too. I'd definitely back Huddersfield to come above them as it is.

Another one of these misleading stats is that Lukaku doesn't score against the bigger teams. If you check opta, you'll see he scored more against the top 6 last season than Ibra, Kane, Sanchez and Costa.
RumbleFox Posted 8 July 2017 Posted 8 July 2017 (edited) Why don't people rate him? Honestly? He is literally the definition of proven Premier League goalscorer. Of course the amount is mental but football has gone mental but based on goals scored it is impossible not to class him as one of the best in the league, and he's never even played for a great team? Richard Posted 9 July 2017 Posted 9 July 2017 if they only want a striker who scores goals may as well have signed Yakubu
