Feeder Club

We are apparently on the verge of taking over OHL in Belgium's 2nd division who'll become a feeder club to us.

Not sure how I feel about this. I suppose it means we can sign young South Americans and Africans and let them play there until they can gain a work permit.

Any sources on this or is it just something you've heard?

There seems to be a lot of players coming through the Belgian youth system and becoming top players. If we can get a foothold in Belgium and help this club attract better players that we can eventually sign, seems like a win win situation.

Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, son of Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, owner of exiting England international Leicester City, announced on Monday that he would be joining OH Leuven management that he would like to buy the club immediately "to build a project like his father at Leicester '. A delegation from OHL was invited to Leicester on Saturday. Aiyawatt is currently Leicester's vice president, but he should immediately step out of the club if OHL agrees with his plans. Aiyawatt would like to follow his father's footsteps. With a similar project in Belgium, he wants to deliver a vibrant student city a prestigious football club, with a healthy youth work and anchoring with supporters being particularly important. Just as his father does in Leicester, Aiyawatt also wants to help the city of Leuven in his social development.

I'm interested as to what would happen if we played them in Europe, wouldn't there be a massive conflict of interest?

No more so than Watford playing Udinese or Granada in Europe.

OHL won't play in Europe in the foreseeable future.

Just like Chelsea are unlikely to face Vitesse Arnhem in a European competition any time soon.

Another step taken by the owners to develop us into a more competitive, sustainable outfit. Taking the ethics of it out of the equation, it can only be a good thing.

I'd hope that it comes with serious plans for the club itself and not just a scheme to get us a feeder in Europe. That club will have it's own history and fans and I'd hate the ownership of our club to be part responsible for damaging that club.

If they're given the infrastructure promised and allowed to progress as a club then it's a win-win, and as of now I trust the Top & Vichai to do the right thing.

I would think them progressing can only help us, if we loan them players the higher the level they play the better for them to develop.

Idk if im missing it but this doesn't mention them becoming a feeder club for us, more Aiyawatt will just step down and taking over them?

Feel uneasy about this. OHL's fans would have to be on board for me to be OK with it.

Yeah because our owners have been shocking for us, I'm sure they'll be gutted.

The only downside I see to this is that the owners as it is don't spend enough time in and around the club. They were away for most of this season when things weren't going well and I feel this will mean they will be at the club even less. Just an opinion, not in any way doubting our owners as they have on the whole been outstanding.

No I read the same... this is about the son getting his own pet project, so although there will be a link of sorts, it's not an official one?

Like unless they put the club into the King Power Group then the link is just father and son and may not have an intention of linking players etc

Weren't we supposed to be Top's little pet project before Vichai came in and said "bollocks to that" three months in lol?
