Cheap for a recent footballer of the year and 17 goal midfielder. It'll be interesting if the owners demonstrate their no need to sell anyone claims. They should stick to their valuation. Mahrez and his agent have had every chance to make their pitch from the beginning of the close season. We've presumably outlined our terms to him. There's no reason we should lie back and get shafted. Mahrez wanted Champions League football and it's fair we should value him on that basis. If Barcelona and other Champions League competitors don't want him that's not our fault Mahrez should look to himself and perhaps think about having another title-winning season here with us, and elevating his value again!
smr Posted 6 July 2017 Posted 6 July 2017 Its good to see us playing hard ball and not getting mugged off. Lets be fair we got mugged off by chelsea when we sold the worlds best midfielder (love yo kante) for peanuts. Aint happening again. Anything less than 50m tell em to fo! If pogba is worth 90m theres no way we should let riyad go for less than 50m. Pfa player of the year not long ago too.
st albans fox Posted 6 July 2017 Posted 6 July 2017 Pogba fee inflated because yanited would pay it. Never worth that Riyad shouldn't suffer because NG had a release clause. We get a fee which is commensurate with his ability and track record. 40/45 m seems fair to me.

I'd imagine many fans on here would consider £45million acceptable but that still leaves the problem of a replacement.

Tuna Posted 6 July 2017 Posted 6 July 2017 Riyad Mahrez left out in the cold with Arsenal unwilling to meet Leicester's £50million valuation Riyad Mahrez has handed in a transfer request and wants to leave Leicester Algerian is valued at £50million by Leicester but Arsenal want to pay £35m Mahrez is expected to return for pre-season training with Leicester on Friday Arsenal are still prioritising the signing of Monaco's £80m-rated Thomas Lemar http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4673254/Mahrez-left-limbo-Arsenal-unwilling-pay-50m.html Riyad Mahrez has been left in transfer limbo with Arsenal unwilling to meet Leicester's £50million valuation. The north London side have held talks with the Foxes over signing the former PFA Player of the Year, but do not want to pay more than £35m for the Algerian international. Mahrez has handed in a transfer request and is understood to have an agreement with Leicester that he will be allowed to leave this summer after ignoring interest from the likes of Barcelona last year. But with a huge gap in valuation between the two Premier League sides, he is expected to attend the start of pre-season training with Leicester on Friday despite the question marks over his future. Arsenal are still prioritising the signing of Thomas Lemar from Monaco, but his £80m asking price is an issue, meaning they have turned their attention to Mahrez. The 26-year-old struggled to hit the stunning heights of his form during Leicester's Premier League title winning campaign last season. While he bagged 17 league goals for Claudio Ranieri's side in 2015-16, he stumbled to just six last campaign and was regularly dropped as Leicester faltered both domestically and in their debut Champions League campaign. He was also diminished as a creative force, providing just three assists compared to 11 when he was named the best player in the country. All of this has led to Arsenal questioning Leicester's huge price tag. The Gunners kicked off their summer transfer business with the signing of Alexandre Lacazette for a club record £53m from Lyon on Wednesday. They take on Western Sydney Wanderers in their first pre-season game on July 15.

If I remember correctly we went further then any other English team. Bullsh1t journalism.

He is not at a club spending £3 million on Jon Walters but a club genuinely trying to punch above its perceived weight and stay up there. He can stay here and continue the journey. Alternatively, he can be the side chick at a club who rate him just enough to make a bid. That doesn't indicate he will be an automatic starter. Stay, find your feet again and than depend what you want from where you want.

desertfox2 Posted 7 July 2017 Posted 7 July 2017 Arsenal can't be that keen. They wanted Lacazette and had to pay for him. They are struggling to match the wage demands of Ozil and Sanchez. Stalemate. We can hold out for 50m, can't see them paying it. Mahrez stays unless someone panic buys at the end of the window which would be incredibly annoying as it messes us about with a replacement. Would love to see Wengers face if Mahrez destroys them 1st game of the season.

Should have kept his gob shut instead of putting that stupid statement out a few weeks ago. Silly, silly boy. I wonder how the rest of the squad will treat him if he does return to training today? The whole situation can't be good for squad morale can it?
