As with a direct free kick, the kicker may not touch the ball a second time, until another player has touched the ball. The punishment for such an infringement is an indirect free kick to the opposing team from the point where the offence occurred; unless the touch was a handling offence, which is punished with a direct free kick.

Those aren't the rules but when you get something like that, which is clearly not intentional and it turns an 80% chance of a goal into 0% chance then you've got to wonder what the **** is going on with the rules.

So he slipped and no penalty retaken?

 

In any case, Mahrez went for the penalty just outside the area and there was little to no contact.

What goes around, comes around...

 

This season, I despair with him at times. So frustrating that he doesn't have his full heart in it. The slip-up is a mere manifestation of that lack of commitment.
