Maguire seems like he'd be a great signing and fit right in with our team and style of play!

Next up - a CAM please! Though Id take James / Ndidid / Drinky next season if all 3 can stay fit

Where's the creativity and goals?

To be fair, signing a player from a relegated club does not require the work of genius.

I didn't suggest he had to be a genius, just effective and seeing as Maquire's been a known target for us and others, he seems to have been exactly that and it's a signing that reflects some early success given the sort of disappointments we're had.in the last two windows and always assuming there are no late hitches. .

Yes, i saw that and you could doubtless find a goal or two from Drinkwater as well. Occasional successes don't make a genuinely creative/goalscoring central midfielder.

Evans/Smalling/Jones. One of those three now, a good RB and the defence is sorted.

Simpson still a good choice for us at right back IMO.

But while we're currently doing a deal with Hull for Maguire, I'd like to see us go for Moses Odubajo who looked a really outstanding prospect at right back before picking up a bad injury last pre-season and unfortunately missed the whole of Hull's Premier League campaign. Not sure on the latest status of his injury but he must be nearing a return and would be good competition for Simpson with the potential to succeed him as first choice right back.

Yeah he is a consistent performer no doubt, don't trust anyone to cover him though, no depth I suppose.

i'm very happy to see this getting done. We seriously need at least one & probably two younger Cb's who can play the ball out instead of the big boot. It looks like we payed a decent price & have locked the player up for five years... Good business in my mind.

P.S  I should mention that I'm biased towards Brit players.

What like those playing for England at the moment ?

i very much doubt it's £80k/w flat fee, so to speak.

I think he'll be unveiled tomorrow. Pictures and all etc

Have to be a massive veil to cover that bonce!!

Having shortened to 1/14 on sky bet, it's now drifted (relative term) back to 1/10.  Guess no one is going to punt at those numbers anyway

Still relatively short odds for what seems a done deal

Had a chat with a couple of Sheff United fans tonight and they said it's the best money we'll spend this window.

"He's like John Stones going forward, but he can actually defend as well"

Much prefer a strong, stable defender to one that is better going forward and actually being more effective in midfield etc than his "supposed" position (as like you say, the latter in particular is John Stones - who isn't really justifying that big price tag for a so-called defender).

I think he fits in well with what we have already... as not one post on here has mentioned pace!

To be fair, Wes is actually fast once he has his enormous bulk up to speed, but acceleration is not the forte of the man mountain. I would have preferred the Sunderland fella, but this looks like a solid, sensible investment. Bodes well for the rest of the window.

If you haven't seen this posted on ESPNFC now.  Seems he is ours now.

http://www.espnfc.com.au/soccer-transfers/story/3143637/leicester-city-agree-to-sign-hull-city-defender-harry-maguire-report

Leicester have had a bid for Hull City defender Harry Maguire accepted, Press Association Sport has reported.

A fee of around £17 million has reportedly been agreed between the two clubs, and the move could be confirmed by the weekend subject to the player agreeing personal terms and passing a medical.

Maguire, about to enter the final year of his Hull contract, looks set to become Craig Shakespeare's first signing since he signed a three-year contract as full-time Leicester boss last week.

Leicester have been looking to bring in cover in the centre of defence after injuries to captain Wes Morgan and Robert Huth last season exposed a lack of depth in that position.

Maguire was a standout performer for Hull and had been expected to leave following their relegation from the Premier League.

The 24-year-old joined from Sheffield United for a fee of £2.5m in the summer of 2014 and the Blades will receive a windfall from his sale after inserting a sell-on clause.
