Hope it works out for him and us, we did look seriously short of cover in defence at the end of the season.

Not a bad bit of business by Hull either 2.5 million converted in to 10-12 or 17 million depending on what paper you read

I'd like to see Jonny Evans with him as well tbh...........

I THOUGHT WE WERE TRYING TO BE A TOP 6 TEAM, AND HEAR WE ARE FIGHTING OVER A 12- 15 MILLION POUND CB. TOP 5-6 TEAMS WOULD NOT THINK TWICE ABOUT PAYING 30 MILLION FOR A CB YET WE TAKE FROM THE BOTTOM. UNLESS  WE START BUYING SOME REAL QUALITY PLAYERS WE WILL AGAIN BE FIGHTING TO AVOID THE DROP.

Four hundred thousand for Mahrez, One million for Vardy and 8 million for Kanté. Those three signings did OK.

If he wasn't in the last year of his contract and his club hadn't just been relegated then he would have cost £25m

does this make you happy?

The thing about the current top 5 or 6 is they can attract defenders worth £30m as they can offer European football. Name me a defender that would command a £30m fee and still consider us a step up in their career?

You mean like buying sterling & stones for 50 mill apiece. Thats how a top team does business. The price doesn't always guarantee the quality !!!

Can have Chris "mike Smalling" for £10-15m

a proven class player

This defender is typical of our transfer policy since Walsh left .... very very average players being bought for huge prices

this fella was relegated with hull and really is probably a championship player

not excited at all

For what it's worth, Musa, Hernandez, Mendy, Zeiler & Slimani all had the Walsh seal  of approval. He isn't and wasn't infallible!

Whilst am happy with the signing.

"Good young English ball playing centre back."

Big name?? (what some are calling him) ..... he isn't ?

26 premier league games.

I'd still like us to sign a "PROVEN" premier league player also ? Ala

Shawcross, Evans, Smalling ??

We hopefully learned a lesson last Few years  regarding being loyal....

Promotion season, last summer.

Miserable sod.

Maguire made the championship team of the year last year and in his first prem season was Hull's players POTY and fans POTY.  He can play and drive forward from the back, still bout 4 years short of his prime as a CB so plenty of scope to improve.  This is a coup for us.

Hull fan in peace. Harry will be the signing of the season for you guys - good enough for nearly any top team and should be in England squad. In my opinion he's worth double what you are paying (so gutted about the fee we've received) - better than Gibson, Keane. Two footed, very good at reading the game - a class act- don't worry about the pace aspect, you'll understand when you see him week in week out. Chesterfield lad, so perfect fit. Enjoy him, a sound investment- you'll probably double your money in a couple of years. I'll be watching on with interest, good luck for the season.

I love it when fans think they know better due to 'smalling' being a bigger name. Remember when we got excited cos we signed Beckford, Neil Danns and Matt Mills? Then we signed Mahrez, Vardy and Kante to little fanfare....

You also have to realise that Smalling will probably want double the wages HM wants, it's more about wages for clubs like us rather than transfer fees

Thanks for the heads up EYTiger,  He sounds just what we need, we do have some miseries on here. Good luck next season hope you can bounce back.
