It's about time, when you've got a short arse team you really need to be doing something different other than just lumping it in the box, that's what teams are set up for.

Even more impressive is keeping a team up with three games to go with the dross he had when he was given the chance.
ozvaldo Posted 18 May 2017 Posted 18 May 2017 We might not always play the most attractive football under him, but he'll get us good results and there's no reason why we can't challenge for a Europa spot next season. He's done a fantastic job since taking over and I really hope he gets the job and the scope to build his own staff and be hands-on with regards to player recruitment. I also think he'll embody our culture of working with both youth and hungry players, as opposed to splashing the cash on 'unknowns'. Plus, he looks like the award-winning butcher on the corner of your Nan's street, who everyone trusts. And I like bacon. Get him signed.
foxy boxing Posted 18 May 2017 Posted 18 May 2017 He deserves the chance to manage the job full time and hopefully it will work out. he has the players respect and obviously has done a good job since taking charge. He'll be under a lot more pressure next season and it will be interesting to see how he handles it!
Sublime_Coatsworth Posted 18 May 2017 Posted 18 May 2017 It would be a bold decision to choose anyone else but Shakespeare, a manager who has clearly brought the best out of the players - and team as a whole. So long as they can limit departures I'd expect a minimum top 8 finish next year, with a realistic chance of a European slot (one way or another). Choosing another, maybe high-profile manager could potentially improve on that - though could well bring everything crashing down. IMO it's simply not worth the risk. So sign him up - and let's get cracking on some new recruitment for our Euro push next season

UniFox21 Posted 18 May 2017 Posted 18 May 2017 Honestly it's refreshing having an English manager being given a chance
bluebeau Posted 18 May 2017 Posted 18 May 2017 Hopefully Shakey will be the new long term manager/head coach. IMO if he isn't offered the job, he will be leaving City as there will be no shortage of other football clubs wanting him as their manager. He probably will not want to be a no. 2 now after tasting & doing well as no. 1 He deserves to be given the chance but going on past history, the owners seem to like 'big names'. Shakey wasn't their first choice when Claudio was sacked. It appears that the players are 100% in favour of him getting the job, so come on you owners get him signed up so that he has plenty of time to sort out his squad, ins & outs & also new coaching staff.

We might have a manager Lined up, who wants Shakey has the big no2... To me its simple...This squad/The ethos/the character/The owners/The soul/......Shakespeare With 2-4 good qualitif buy, A CM boss. Keeps our golden era going..Another name would be for me a shock...but heyho I am formostly a city fan, I will Support their (owners) choice.....

Shaky's shown himself perfectly capable of handling management and I'm quite sure he can come up with his own preferences for number two/coaches/assistants, whatever it is he feels he needs to help him on the football side, especially remembering we already have a director of football for all that he doesn't seem particularly popular with forum commentators and I've no comment to make on that. .

Royston. Posted 18 May 2017 Posted 18 May 2017 i dont see how they cannot give him the job. theyd have to have someone lined up and that means they'll have been sneaking around behind shakespeares back. i predict a 4 year contract.
lcfcsnow Posted 18 May 2017 Posted 18 May 2017 I guess I'm the only one concerned that we've only won two out of the last nine games should we not win tonight.

That's hardly overly concerning - take the Atletico results out as the Champions League was more of a bonus (good performances too), that's two wins in seven but it also includes tough visits to Everton, Arsenal and City and you could argue we we're unlucky to come out of the latter of those games without a point. The draw away at Palace was a decent point too.

I'm not totally convinced by this but his results have mainly been beating the lesser sides and losing to the top ones barring Liverpool. He'll have my support but it's a big job for a first time manager.
FireFox Posted 18 May 2017 Posted 18 May 2017 Not convinced Shakey is ready to manage in the Prem. His early wins can partly be down to the "new manager bounce". Yes, we've had injuries, but I don't think Shakey has dealt with it properly. Get someone with experience in, and let's rebuild.
