ousefox Posted 18 May 2017 Posted 18 May 2017 He is our best ever striker, surely? Had a few poor runs which shows he is a confidence player (I've been too critical during these) but what a signing he has been.
matty98 Posted 18 May 2017 Posted 18 May 2017 2nd half against Middleborough, 1st game of the championship winning season, looked a completely different player to what we'd seen previously from him.

Too young to have seen Linker and I appreciate they were very different players. But it's a no contest from the Little years onward. Heskey wasn't even close.

Finnegan Posted 18 May 2017 Posted 18 May 2017 Just now, Babylon said: What about this fine specimen. We've had countless cult heroes in that time. Cottee, Marshall, Claridge, Roberts - I even had a particular fondness for our slap headed Icelandic super sub - but let's be honest, none at Vardy's level.
Koke Posted 18 May 2017 Posted 18 May 2017 Man Utd home in 2014 where he rustled them hard. Thinking about he has rustled a lot of teams. WBA away in 2015 where he nicked the ball and drove with it and put it in the bottom corner in in the 90+1 minute. WBA away again later that year with what is, IMO, one of the best we scored that season. From our own half and 4 touches later it was in their net. WBA again few weeks ago where he just trolled them (he must love playing them) QPR away was a watershed moment for a lot us. We knew then we'd go up. Best goal he scored was Liverpool home last season.
Lovejoy Posted 18 May 2017 Posted 18 May 2017 Chat sh*it, get banged. Darth Vardy In all seriousness, I think there's an argument for him being our best ever striker. Not just the goals, but the effect on the team.
Stadt Posted 18 May 2017 Posted 18 May 2017 I thought he was utter wank and would have sold him after 2012/13, he's proved me completely wrong and he's my favourite player now

Yup, I groaned when him and Drinkwater started against Boro but they both scored and Drinkwater cupped his ears at me.
Tuna Posted 18 May 2017 Posted 18 May 2017 So many good moments: Destroying Manchester United and lvg in 14/15. The winner against West Brom in the great escape season. The 11 game goal streak last season. 2 goals against Sunderland, ranieri in tears after the game. That was almost certainly the clincher. Trolling the Spurs fans at The Lane, pointing to his winners badge. Hattrick against Man City. Away goal against Sevilla.
davieG Posted 18 May 2017 Posted 18 May 2017 Jamie Vardy explains why he punches himself after missing a chance Published 57 minutes ago Add your comment Football News 24/7 Jamie Vardy was in serious danger of looking like a one season wonder before Craig Shakespeare replaced Claudio Ranieri at Leicester City. Vardy had netted just seven times before Shakespeare took charge of the Foxes’ game against Liverpool on February 27. Since, Ranieri’s replacement has steered Leicester away from the relegation zone and has inspired Vardy to reach last year’s levels. The England international has scored eight goals under Shakespeare, including a brace in that 3-1 win over Liverpool. His numbers for the season - 15 goals and five assists in all competitions - now look respectable. But Vardy struggled immensely during the first half of the season. He didn’t score a single league goal in 741 minutes between September and December, a drought that he has admitted got him frustrated. “I feel good about myself with how the season is ending but I could have scored more,” Vardy told the Daily Mail. “My form did get me frustrated, I'm not going to lie. But it does happen to strikers, you have patches where it is not going your way. “You just have to keep doing the things that have got you the success in the past and eventually it does come back.” VARDY WANTS TO CONTINUE FOR A LONG TIME Vardy’s journey to the top has been well documented. Now 30, the forward had to wait until he was recognised but he would say it’s been worth the wait. Yet you wouldn’t guess he was 30, just a year younger than Wayne Rooney, judging by the amount of running he does each game. Vardy must rank as one of the most annoying strikers for a defender to come up against based on the sheer amount of closing down he does. And the former Fleetwood Town player believes he can keep it up for a number of years to come. “I still feel 21, I'm sweet,” he added. “I’ve just got to make sure I keep my pace. “Age is only a number and while I'm still running around like I am then long may it continue. I feel young.” VARDY'S UNUSUAL HABITS Vardy doesn’t do things the same way as anyone else. He revealed in his autobiography that he sips port the night before a match to help him sleep, and he still drinks a can of Red Bull in the morning. Another one of Vardy’s unique habits is his tendency to hit himself in the face after missing a chance. He’s done it against Sevilla and Hull City this season. He’s also done it on international duty, punching himself after missing an opportunity against Turkey in 2016. Against Lithuania earlier this year, he banged his head on the turf. VARDY EXPLAINS WHY HE HITS HIMSELF You can watch the clips of Vardy hitting himself below. In Vardy’s eyes, letting his anger out on himself is better than letting it out on somebody else! “I used to do it all the time, it's just frustration,” Vardy said. “It is better to punch myself than somebody else isn't it! I've cut my lip quite a few times.” Keep doing you, Jamie.
shen Posted 18 May 2017 Posted 18 May 2017 THAT goal against Liverpool. You just felt then that everything he touched turned to gold. If any one player has typified this glorious chapter in the club's history, it is certainly him.
LanguedocFox Posted 18 May 2017 Posted 18 May 2017 Like others, I think his winner against WBA on "Astle Day" in April 2015 was just magical. It summed up everything I admired about that City side, and it reinforced my conviction - which I'd had for some time - that we were not going down. I watched the game on a stream, and when Huth scored the equaliser about ten minutes from the end, the co-commentator said something like "If Leicester can just hang on for another ten minutes, they will come away with a precious away point." Yeah, right.

I've been watching since 1957, so I've seen them all from Arthur Rowley onwards, but I've never seen a striker who gives as much to the game as Vardy does. Absolutely legend.
SouthStandUpperTier Posted 18 May 2017 Posted 18 May 2017 He's OK I suppose. But it'll be a cold day in hell before I rank him above Bobby Davison. [emoji57]
the fox Posted 18 May 2017 Posted 18 May 2017 Fans really take vardy for granted, man leaves it all on the pitch. He has 36 goals in the last 2 season, that's about 18 a season. Considering what the team went through from August to February, that's elite! I know people here say "mahrez gets the most criticism" but vardy was getting killed in those 6-7 months (admittedly, I was one of them). And some people even questioned his personality. But he proved that with the right service and motivation, he is a lethal striker. I'm very happy that we have a player like him, a player so good, so Leicester city that you can't help but take him for granted!
ajthefox Posted 18 May 2017 Posted 18 May 2017 Personifies our identity and I'm so glad he told Arsenal to do one. We wouldn't be the same team without and sooner rather than later I think we need to do some serious planning about how to evolve because it's vary rare to find a striker with his raw attributes, his commitment/pressing and his finishing ability.
LCCFox96 Posted 18 May 2017 Posted 18 May 2017 He's my favourite ever Leicester player because he just epitomises everything I love about football. His work rate, attitude and desire to constantly improve himself are top. He's come from absolutely nowhere to become an England international and a top PL striker - rate it. He's got a brilliant relationship with our fans and one of few players we've ever had capable of whipping the Leicester fans into an absolute frenzy. I also love how the opposition fans always hate on him but he gives it back all the time. He's a pretty unique talent and we're lucky to have him. Favourite Vardy goal: West Brom away in the Great Escape.
Melbourne Fuchs Posted 18 May 2017 Posted 18 May 2017 I love that feeling you get with Vardy when he's through on goal, you just know it's going in the back of the net. I honestly don't know how we'll ever replace him; his work rate, his pace, his clinical finishing - he's one of a kind! This is one of my favourite goals from him, the desire he shows to just bulldoze his way through that defender is amazing. His goal against Sunderland from Albrighton's cross a few weeks ago was also brilliant.
Ric Flair Posted 18 May 2017 Posted 18 May 2017 " I still feel 21, I'm sweet " what a man, what a hero. May I add his equaliser vs Germany in their own back yard with a ridiculous back heel and his equaliser vs Wales in the Euros last summer were unbelievable to celebrate. Ok he was in an England shirt, but I was ridiculously proud.
Clever Fox Posted 18 May 2017 Posted 18 May 2017 he has worked hard to get where he is. I just love his attitude regardless of ability. He always takes the pitch focused and ready and never gives defenses a break. I don't believe that he'll ever score a better Goal than the one against Liverpool. Pure Class.
Ted Maul Posted 18 May 2017 Posted 18 May 2017 Man United, Man City, Arsenal and Spurs fans absolutely loathe him. That's all you need to know about how good the bloke is- must be a while since we've had a player who has rustled fans of the big clubs to the extent he has. Difficult to compare him to Chandler and Rowley with their monumental goalscoring records, but he's won us the top flight and become our highest ever England goalscorer, so he's certainly one of our all-time greats. He's given us so many great moments in a City shirt. Plus, he's come out and said he's happy here and the squad should stick together. What more could you want from your star striker? The last 5 years have been immense, and hopefully we get a few more out of him.
