When managers reach the back end of their career (which i think he is at even at the age of 54) they seem to lose that edge/passion. It happens to the best of them even Fergie. I think this could well be NP's last job. He's still at a great point in his career as a manager and has something to prove, you don't lose that hunger overnight. I bet he'll be looking forward to the challenge to tackle a project similar to ours a few years back. I'd be more worried if he was nearing his 70ies.

I'll be telling my grand-kids about what a great manager he was. Would have him back here in a heartbeat. Hero. You enjoyed us being bottom for 6 months then? We're not in the Championship anymore. If we were he'd be perfect but he's not a Premiership manager. We're desperate for a tactically positive manager not managers like Shakespeare and Pearson. 2
Dan Posted 22 September 2017 Posted 22 September 2017 Always get very selective stuff when it comes to Pearson. He always got there in the end and that is ultimately all that matters. Always makes me laugh when people act like he failed at this level. Without a doubt the biggest myth I've heard. 4

BoyJones Posted 22 September 2017 Posted 22 September 2017 Probably get slaughtered, but in my 54 years supporting City, NP has been my favourite manager. Didn't really warm to CR, who I thought was more PR than substance. I love a manager who wears his heart on his sleeve. Personally think CS is a bit nice, but hopefully behind the scenes he takes no sh@t. MON was okay, but I felt a real drama queen; the League Cup wins were brilliant, but I preferred the long slog of winning the two league titles under NP. More rewarding seasons. I know we had a really bad period before the great escape, but I blame the players as much as the management team. NP was an "edgy" manager, but I felt he really cared for Leicester more than MON & CR. Just my opinion, but I am really glad NP is back in the game and I wish him every success. 1 2

Winning the Premier league not enough substance for you then. Fair enough, each to their own. 4
Stadt Posted 23 September 2017 Posted 23 September 2017 We have to remember the squad we finished 14th under Pearson wasn't the best which could be argued that it was his fault but also consider the difficulty of getting players to sign for a newly promoted club. A defence consisting of Konchesky at LB, Morgan/Moore/Wasyl in the middle and De Laet at RB - it's not too surprising we struggled with such poor defenders. To Pearson's huge credit he solved the issue by signing Huth, Simpson (although didn't play him bizarrely) and Fuchs too. Furthermore GTF and Dean Hammond got premier league minutes whilst we relied on a struggling Vardy, Nugent and Ulloa to lead the line and somehow we contrived to finish 14th after being bottom for so long. The main conclusion that can be drawn is that Pearson adapts, sometimes a bit slowly but he does adapt.

Know where you are coming from, but my understanding is that CR and MON had minimal input on the training field. Walford was definitely the man in the 90's, and a mix of coaches over the last couple of years.

lifted*fox Posted 23 September 2017 Posted 23 September 2017 I think us Pearson appreciators should book a trip to an upcoming home game and show our support. 2 1

Guest seanfox778 Posted 24 September 2017 Posted 24 September 2017 Nice try #28 We can see you're James Pearson.
Blue ROI Posted 24 September 2017 Posted 24 September 2017 I'd be interested in whatever team Nigel was involved with but this feels like it could have huge significance for us. Best of luck Nige.
