Wonder why we are not putting a bid in for Barkley, if we end up getting 40m for DD

Chelsea offered 25m

would add a different dimension

He wouldn't stay at everton on 140k/week

why would he come here ?

In the PL.

Was second choice to James prior to him getting injured.

Looked good with Cambiasso in the great escape.

Looked great with Kante in the league winning side.

Last season without the quality alongside him looked meh.

Honestly I would take the money.

Drinky was injured a lot of the great escape season otherwise would have been ahead of James ? % Wasn't he our player of the year when we got promoted?

I would prefer him over James tho for £30m I'd say take the money + invest another £20m and get a beast for £50m - same process if Mahrez leaves

Let's face it. He's been ropey and injury-prone since that costly backpass v West Brom last autumn (the goal v Liverpool was a flash in the pan) so I don't now see him as a massive loss. However, every Premier League champion has his price, and if Chelsea want him, they will have to pay what we demand.

Slight exaggeration

100k in July

May was the deadline to sign the new contract

If, as was suggested by Matt Law, the transfer request went in some time ago, WHY haven't we lined up a replacement for DD.

Not disappointed by the player wanting to go to a bigger club, but ****ing AMAZED that our recruitment team have not identified AND pursued his successor.

If that's the case, that'll be the reason we got Iborra in

The point still stands though.

Barkley hasn't refused a new deal at his boyhood club Everton so can force a move to Leicester.

It's the same when our reported targets of Howedes being linked with Juventus and Evans being linked with Man City and Arsenal. As soon as those clubs are an option we go out the window with the only caveat being if they're going to the bigger club as back up then we may have a sniff.

Danny Drinkwater to Chelsea: Leicester star should snub move, I’d go elsewhere - Wilkins

DANNY DRINKWATER should steer clear of Chelsea, insists former coach at Stamford Bridge Ray Wilkins.

By Jack Staplehurst / Published 30th August 2017

Danny Drinkwater is desperate to join Chelsea from Leicester before tomorrow's deadline

The Leicester star has handed in a transfer request in a bid to force through a move to west London.

Chelsea have seen a £23m offer knocked back with Leicester demanding more than £30m as they have no financial need to sell.

Drinkwater would be reunited with former Foxes midfield team-mate N’Golo Kante at Chelsea.

However, despite their strong partnership in Leicester’s title winning season in 2016, Wilkins is advising Drinkwater against the switch.

The pundit believes the England international would struggle to force his way into Antonio Conte’s starting XI.

“The important thing again is to play”

And Wilkins add the 27-year-old should join eye a move elsewhere if he wishes to quit the King Power Stadium.

"Danny has done really well over the last couple of years,” Wilkins said on talkSPORT.

“The important thing again is to play.

“If Danny comes to Chelsea, (Tiemoue) Bakayoko has cost £40million, Kante everybody loves.

“Is he going to get a game with Fabregas as well?

“If I was Danny I'd go somewhere where I would play personally.”

It remains to be seen if Chelsea and Leicester will reach an agreement over a fee for Drinkwater.

The Blues are running out of time to secure a deal ahead of tomorrow’s 11pm deadline.

No he thought he had more options but it would appear his options are limited, same as Mahrez im sure he didnt envisage going Roma when handing in his transfer request, but i guess it depends how desperate the player is to leave.

Iborra didn't come here for the weather and the quality of football. Those of us who went to Seville realise that !!

Unless we offer barkley 140k/week he won't be interested- and we won't.

I'd bet good money Barkley still wouldn't be interested in coming here even if we offered him £140k a week.

He's not kicked off at Everton so he can join Leicester for a few thousand Pounds a week more than he could get at Chelsea or Everton. He'd be a laughing stock and tagged as the ultimate mercenary.

Why do people need to justify him going by slating his performances ?

I do not get it tbh - yes, he was poorer second half of last season but it is true that he was playing with an injury which can be played through but limits lateral movement (i.e. Hip Flexor) which with rest can then be managed through. Hence he is fit for pre-season subject to a mystery thigh strain - probably because this Chelsea interest has been going on.

I get that some fans would sell him for a certain figure - imo anything less than £40m is mad as we will not be able to replace him and actually he is integral to our team.

However, the game changer for me would be IF he wants to go and we get £40m offered then we will probably sell him subject to a replacement being signed.

However, I think it sad that fans want to slate him as he has been absolute quality since joining from Utd reserves - really bought into our club (never forget him at Everton FC in the away end and joining in the songs) never given less than 100% and showed how good he is.....make no mistake he will be a loss and he would imo always be a LCFC legend and if it is because he wants this one opportunity to play at an Elite Club in CL, winning titles with a better chance of England World Cup squad selection it is very difficult not to understand it.

We had an opportunity last season to elevate the club and for lots of reasons we got it slightly wrong but the current crop of talent we have are probably the best in the club's history hence the interest from the big powerful clubs..

Hopefully Chelsea do not match the owners expectation and he stays as he is one of the cornerstones of our team but if he leaves subject to the owners approval I for one will always have enjoyed watching him and would have full respect for what he gave LCFC .......be gutted but understanding.....I certainly would not resort to slagging him off just to make it seem like we are not bothered

I thought when we had that awful start under Ranieri and were losing 3-0 or 4-1 every week, he was our only decent player. As soon as he got the ban for the elbow at Watford, he went to shit and had a bit of a resurgence when Shakespeare came in.

I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest to see Barkley stay and move on a Bosman next season. That way he's highly sought after and he can command a huge financial package. Win win for Barkley and his new club all at the expense of Everton dropping £25m.

Probably pissed, but makes sense if your priority is progressing your career.

Maybe he will be happy taking a big wage being a bit part player and feels his overachieved in his career anyway and its a chance at a huge payday.

Gylfi £50 million

DD £23 million?

right. How many titles has the G man won?

chelsea need to stump up or fuch off. We aren't desperate to sell and they are desperate to buy.

Maybe the evaluation is also in parts based on last season's performances? They probably know he was carrying an injury and couldn't give it his best.

He's officially still injured, mind. So they're buying "damaged goods" and want a rebate...

Sigurdsson has played 124 PL matches in his 3 1/2 years at Swansea, scoring 34 goals and dishing out 30 assists.

Drinkwater's stats pale in comparison.

But does that stop him playing the ball forward? I don't buy this injury crap, if he wasn't fit enough to put in the work rate for a good performance then he wouldn't have been playing.

Injury wasnt bad enough to not turn around and kick the ball back to defence or Kaspar, but bizarrely stopped him playing forward balls

Must have been a back injury.

He's left it quite late, now, to be handing in such a request.

Quite silly really tbh.

Not sure, if Drinkwater and Mahrez don't go, how to feel having players in a team that don't really want to be there.
