Asking for a transfer may be a way of the club avoiding paying a % of the transfer fee and if he doesn't want to be here for me best get him gone but at a price agreeable to us. Also for all the doom and gloom on here where it seems some would rather us go down or struggle in the prem our infrastructure is pretty decent and it could be those looking after DD might have come to the conclusion he may never be the player he was so lets see what happens

Fair play to the club sticking to their guns, no way we should get bent over in this market.

Especially after we got bent over with Kante. And at this late stage, i doubt we could find a replacement.

That's why DD wants out despite of being certain to be a starter in the midfield here? He won't come.

I still think he's haunted by how he was shafted for Wilshere by Woy.

Southgate for all his faults seems different - If Ox is starting in CM every week here and DD isn't at Chelsea Ox will get picked for sure. Hypothetically speaking of course. We'll never dare have the minerals to bid for Ox.

Why the feck is Ox worth more than DD? Ox got 1 year left on his contract and DD has actually produced more in the last 2 years than Ox has.

How does Ox go for  £35m and we are struggling to even get to that with DD?

I can't believe he handed in a transfer request a month ago but it's only being reported now, think I'll believe Percy on this one.

He might well have said a month ago he wants to leave and has asked they allow him to. Whether on Monday he's then reiterated this and formally demanded he be allowed to go, Matt Law is very well informed regarding Chelsea and London clubs. Percy obviously knows his onions about us but somewhere there's a slight discrepancy.

In good news if we sell Drinky and say Gray or Mahrez we'll no doubt break even/or be in profit on our net spend for the summer...

But in reality it's 35m + plus addons we need - and if Chelsea are still pissing around the 20m mark just tell them not to bother unless they make the right offer, times a wasting.

Don't blame the guy for wanting to move. Like many I will always look back to the way he played in our title winning season, and taking nothing away from his quality, but with Kante next to him, he was given a license to do things he couldn't possibly do in any other team. Maybe he believes that by teaming up with Kante again he can regain that form.

Yes, he probably knows that he wont play a massive part. But the fact is that he could play 10 games for Chelsea and get into Southgates squad, or play a season with Leicester and not get anywhere near it. It's one of the reasons England never win a thing.

The reality is when London comes calling you are going to go. Fair play to Danny he's been a good player for us but if an opportunity to work with Conte comes along he would be a fool not to take it. Why stick around here? The bubble has burst and we are left with a very limited managerial team whose English philosophy of 'getting in to them' will only get the team so far, but is ruthlessly exposed against continental counterparts.

This of course leads to the inevitable conclusion that our recruitment team are absolutely awful, and we are now in full panic mode. The dog days are over. I said it when Shakes got the job and Applecart turned  up that this club is in freefall.

Slightly over exaggerated opinion. As people close to the club have said, it's not through lack of effort from the recruitment team that we've struggled to get all our targets, it is a very difficult and complex market and we are not the only team to have missed out on targets. And we have potentially made 2 of the best signings of the summer in Maguire and Iheanacho.

So you're telling me to get a life after dedicating 13 years of your life to a football forum on the internet.

New levels of stupidity on FT.

300 posts a year, real dedication! Again completely avoiding the point of you pretending to be in the know to get likes. Whatever floats your boat kid!

There is a perfect solution to this midfielder bun fight. Chelski can have DD if we can have the Ox and play him centrally. Three clubs, two players - all happy??

Ox wants Liverpool for some reason. Seems even less likely to play there than Chelsea!

Maybe it's his age (he's 2 1/2 years younger and thus a bigger prospect still compared to Drinkwater) and because it's Arsenal?

As a fan of this football club nothing screams successful transfer window like losing your best players but breaking even.

I was under the impression that Chelsea had bid £32m and we wanted £40m so I was almost certain that a deal would be done with Chelsea desperate for English players and a CDM.

In light of the report that they have offered £23m then that now looks unlikely that middle ground will be found. Hard lines Chelsea and Drinkwater but he signed a 5 year contract for £90k a week last season so we're perfectly entitled to value DD at £40m considering this is a hostile bid and we've given the security of a £25m contract.

I'd rather the club refused the offer and sell DD to Watford in a year for £15m after he's had a mardy on for a season.

Cant see the logic here.  If Drinkwater wants to go why keep him?  Whats the point of having a mardy, sulky individual upsetting the dressing room?  If he wants to go to warm the Chelsea bench let him go.  Would explain the mystery injury, coupled with the fact he has trained all week but allegedly not ready yet?

He certainly wasn't the player last season.  Injury or no injury, he was poor by his standards, it is easy to say cos he didn't have Kante next to him etc, etc, but he didn't do himself justice with some of his displays.

What I said has been backed up by 2 different posts and on here since and a journo from the DM. Nobody has claimed to be ITK other than you giving others the label.

Chelsea came in for DD before Kante - Stringer mentioned the point on the football forum last week, other sources claimed the same after the Kante deal was done, for me this is common knowledge.

Drinkwater asked to leave the club in the summer around 4-5 weeks ago - backed up by the DM journo this morning.

Heres to another 13yrs of FT and you being a dumb fuch.

I get your point but if the club have known about him wanting to leave, why haven't we signed a replacement. Selling him now with no replacement lined up would leave us short of quality in midfield. If he ends up staying like Mahrez, he needs to play well, prove his worth and move in Jan.
