Can't blame Danny for wanting to leave.

Are Chelsea going to match our valuation in the remaining hours or have they just unsettled one of our key players?

Even if he stays he will be no good to us.

Moody, mardy bastard that he is!

Most people outside of Leicester see DD as a defensive midfielder, don't know why but that seems to be what they think on their forums. A fairer comparison is stats against the like of Dier and Matic, as that's the sort of player Chelsea would expect him to mirror. He stands up pretty well to be fair and how much did / would they all cost?

Total score not so good though

Schneiderlin to Everton was 6 months ago and £20 million, rising to £24 million (according to Wikipedia).

He's a better player than Drinkwater, albeit the market has probably moved on another 10-20% since then.

He was unwanted at United, like most big clubs they have to take a hit on transfers to move them on. It's not really the same thing trying to buy one of the best players at another club and they are unwilling sellers. Totally different market for the Everton transfer compared to the one from Saints to United, which is much more inline with what we're facing.

Other than sevilla away and Liverpool home last season he didn't do that well. Chelsea obviously valuing him on his performances 2015/16 alongside two consecutive PFA players of the season. Take the money.

This doesn't make sense. If they don't rate his performances, why do they want him to play for them? If they do rate him then they have to pay the amount that matches their level of interest. But more to the point, he is contracted to us; we neither want or need to sell, so his value is set by us and needs no justification whatsoever.

They need to fill their English player quota. He'd be a squad player, benched half the time, what his sees in that I've no idea.

Shows to me that Drinkwater wants to do less work for more money, and more Silverware. He is happy to sacrifice international caps for this. His lifestyle will be better in the London area also. He's already got a Prem title in the bag. You can't blame him really. From his point of view, I can see why he wants to go.

The problem is if we identify a replacement then we need to get that deal done. We would prefer not to keep an unhappy player if we can get in a good replacement. Leaving it until the last minute risks the new player not getting done. At some point it may be better to compromise on the DD price to make sure the guy coming in gets done !!

Chelsea need this deal more than us. If we're only £5m apart they'll probably pay it, if we're £17m apart then it won't.

Assuming we're in the same ballpark they'll blink before we do.

earning a decent wad here isn't here? doubt he's searching autotrader for used cars. I'd rather be playing first team football all teh time on a decent wage than being a squad rotation player for not that much more money.

Let people ty to defend that now. At least Mahrez made things clear at the end of last season combined it with a personal statement and put a shift (even if it's for his own interest).

This one sneaks a transfer request two days before the window closes and is "injured" since forever.

Where is the outrage? Where are the pages about him being ungrateful? Where are the pages about him sulking to get his move, I'm sure I saw a lot more abuse for a player who said that he wanted out after giving us 1 more your, did it in the start of the summer to give the club enough time and actually came back and preformed after he didn't get his move, unlike a player who handed in a transfer request this late in the window and for all I know, he refused to play.

Read into it what you want, I just know that if it wasn't "one of the favourites", let's say gray or mahrez, this forum would've been boiling and they would've got the dog's abuse, but for drinky, "they respect his ambition"

Honestly, he got more love from the fans and money from the owners than he should've, he was getting the same wage as Kasper, riyad and vardy (if the reports are true) while he is nowhere near to their level!

Agree but if it's quarter to eleven tomorrow evening then it's a bit late isn't it

then you have a really pissed off player with his preferred club having met the price but forced to stay.

He's left it quite late, now, to be handing in such a request.

Quite silly really tbh.

Not sure, if Drinkwater and Mahrez don't go, how to feel having players in a team that don't really want to be there.

one said he wants to leave but if he had to stay, he will. And he proved that by putting a shift in

The second, (if the rumors are true) handed in a transfer request in the last few days and refused to play because of "injury"

Mahrez is by far the better player and people were just asking for 1 more year after the title winning season, so anything past that is a plus in my book! At least when he says "I have ambition" you can understand. But what ambition is driving drinky to hand in a transfer request, Chelsea's bench?

Anyone else find it ****ing barmy that Algerians flood our forums and facebook pages in their support of Slimani and Mahrez yet can't work out why we show a 'special treatment' to our English players?

I think the transfer request is an attempt to force city to be more reasonable in their negotiating with Chelsea.    It must be that chelsea are not wanting to bid enough to make it go thru and so drink (perhaps with encouragement form chelsea) is trying to force city to be reasonable.  From a city POV chelsea have just save by not buying the Ox and so I expect city to hold ouy for a similar offer.

I find this a bit encouraging as clearly negotiators form chelsea are limited in what they can do and it is not a done deal....  and my hope is the deal will not get done.  This will send a power message to the rest of the squad and to other clubs.  It is not too late for our owners to say they don't want it and to cease talks... I would

My take is that Drinkwater believes he will go to Chelsea and partner Kante as 1st choice based on the season they had together at Leicester. being a bench warmer probably hasn't registered that highly with him as he has to have self belief in this abilities. Time will tell who is right and how much game time he will get.

Well, @AKCJ doesn't it bother you that you are called a fanboy time and time again because you show more love to your countrymen while the same people who are calling a fanboy are doing the same thing.

Hypocrisy is an ugly thing!

Dier is definitely overrated. Very one dimensional but he can cover several positions adequately. Drinkwater is a better footballer than Dier though.

I'm so bored of this story. Can't wait til tomorrow night when it's done and dusted.

Dier is actually shit. Probably only gets in the Spurs side cos his daddy plays golf with the chairman.

But you support Leicester because Mahrez because he's Algerian. We support Leicester full stop.

Big difference.

But you simply be honest to the player. It's in the players interest to keep fit and get form for a potential January move.
