Less than 24hours to go in the transfer market looks like we are going to have to panic buy as always.

When does this window shut then?

I make it 37.5hrs.

Reckon we'll sell the fella and he'll barely play for Chelsea over the next 18 months and we'll resign him in January 2019 for a fraction of what we sold him for.

This has Steve Sidwell written all over it.

Not sure that handing in a transfer request makes much difference.

If the clubs are millions apart it is up to the club.Personally would take an offer over £30 million nothing less but let us hope we have a decent replacement lined up

if you're not happy to pay the required amount Chelsea then thanks for your interest and we all move on. There is no reason that it should be at all more complicated than that.

We really have been brought back down to earth with a bang. Got to say fair play to the club if we do hold out for the right transfer fees, but I thought we'd have some kind of lasting legacy from the title win that would propel us to being a constant top half club at least. If we are missing out on players to Stoke and West Brom, then it's just vanished and we're putting it down to a "crazy year".

I still think someone will come in for Mahrez. Surely it's too late to replace him and Drinkwater isn't it?

Also if Chelsea were willing to pay £40 Million for Oxlade Chamberlain and he's just rejected them it means they are going to have some cash spare.

Maybe we should put in a cheeky £30m bid for Ox and promise him a Central Midfield spot - He'd do well for us there.

So you're telling me to get a life after dedicating 13 years of your life to a football forum on the internet.

New levels of stupidity on FT.

Don't blame the guy for wanting to move. Like many I will always look back to the way he played in our title winning season, and taking nothing away from his quality, but with Kante next to him, he was given a license to do things he couldn't possibly do in any other team. Maybe he believes that by teaming up with Kante again he can regain that form.

Yes, he probably knows that he wont play a massive part. But the fact is that he could play 10 games for Chelsea and get into Southgates squad, or play a season with Leicester and not get anywhere near it. It's one of the reasons England never win a thing.

The reality is when London comes calling you are going to go. Fair play to Danny he's been a good player for us but if an opportunity to work with Conte comes along he would be a fool not to take it. Why stick around here? The bubble has burst and we are left with a very limited managerial team whose English philosophy of 'getting in to them' will only get the team so far, but is ruthlessly exposed against continental counterparts.

This of course leads to the inevitable conclusion that our recruitment team are absolutely awful, and we are now in full panic mode. The dog days are over. I said it when Shakes got the job and Applecart turned  up that this club is in freefall.

One thing to consider in all of this though is Drinkwater is a very temperamental character, when he lacks confidence and is unhappy he's absolute horse muck, I know we shouldn't be bent over by Chelsea for this, I'm hoping we'll make an example out of him it's just if we stand firm and he stays then I hope we fcuk him off on loan to Leuven if he plays silly beggars.

Honestly does feel like Chelsea are doing this just to take the piss

They don't even need him ffs! he's going to be sitting on the bench if he goes there

Why on earth do they need Ross Barkley as well if their buying Drinkwater?!?

He wants to Anfield and certainly didn't snub Chelsea to come here. We won't get him even for 60M.

Surely now it's too late to replace Drinkwater and Mahrez adequately isn't it?

It is too late because we have an inexperienced DoF who instead of making sure we had adequate replacements for wantaways instead decided to slap high prices on them to deter potential suitors. What he didn't plan for was crazy last minute deadline day bids that will meet or come close to valuation meaning we will sell and leaving us very short.

The past 3 transfer windows have been nothing short of an absolute shambles besides 2 good signings we've wasted an absolutely huge opportunity. We are now regarded as lower than West Brom or Stoke as players destinations of choice.

I'm more depressed that 4 of the top 6 threads, a day before deadline day are about players leaving.

It's not as depressing as spending season after season at the lower end of the championship and having nobody interested in your players because they are shit.

This is the price of having a good side and punching above our weight. Enjoy it.

He wants to play Centre Mid - If we can offer him the chance for a season in World Cup year the lad will take it.

That's why DD wants out despite of being certain to be a starter in the midfield here? He won't come.

If he's handed in a transfer request, it just grows my own admiration for Riyad. Now there is a man with integrity.

Danny needs to get his agent to earn his money. We have a valuation, please meet it. You'll make a quarter of it back when you sell him to Stoke in 18 months ?

Oh, how easily the mind can play tricks on you. Just because he's kept quiet or has been forced to keep quiet following his antics a few months ago, doesn't make him any more upright.

Players want to progress in their career, that's nothing new.

The timing here with Drinkwater is a bit of a bummer, though.
