Drinkwater

He signed a 5 year contract last year, if it isn't £40m then he can go in Jan or the end of the season.

it's a World Cup year if he wants to play for England he'll be fit again soon enough

Chelsea are far more desperate than us, we can afford to squeeze them until their pips squeak.

I'd probably go as low as £35m + £5m add ons so they feel they've got something but we shouldn't allow ourselves to be bullied, they're desperate for English players and a CDM. Drinkwater fits the bill perfectly and no doubt Kante has given him an excellent reference. They'd also be buying a player who completes the best CM pairing in the PL in 2015/16. This ticks so many boxes for Chelsea and as the hours go by they'll probably just suck it up and pay through gritted teeth.

In today's crazy market I would say hold on for £40 million plus £5 million in ad ons

Still trying? We've had all transfer window, still don't think they'll be one as Shakey sees James and King as first team players along with Iborra and Ndidi

Had all window despite the fact they only bid a week or two ago and they have been nowhere near asking price. Hardly all window is it.

Matt Law has to be wrong. No one can be that ****ing dumb to have repeated bids for a player, who wants out and only now start looking for a replacement. No one!

Even if he doesn't play a game for Chelsea he will get into the England squad. There isn't a queue of talented midfielders that we can choose from

Clubs scout players outside of the window.  A competent recruitment team should not be scratching around on dead-line day for replacements.  Smacks of crap forward planning. They should have dossiers and scouting reports in abundance. If not, bin now.

Do you actually think they haven't got a list of people they would like for each position? Have you not ever considered that you can have a list of people you like, but still struggle to get a deal done hours before the window closes.

It's not a game, you can't just pick and player, make a bid and then they are yours. There are numerous people who all have to agree and goodness know how many finer details that need sorting out. Then the person you want, their club will want a replacement if they are any good.

This is not on us, this is on Chelsea for dragging this out until the last day of the window making shitty £15m offers.

We could have had 10 players we liked who either aren't available, have moved elsewhere or their clubs now won't entertain it due to how late in the window it is.

What we are trying to do is see who is available NOW. If there is nobody we want, the club should tell them to do one. As I said above, this is all on Chelsea and not us.

Their recruitment team has been a complete shambles all summer, if they had bid what we wanted two or three weeks ago then it would probably all be done and we'd have a replacement. People can't call Rudkin for not getting a replacement, when as far as we know we still haven't been offered what we consider an acceptable offer.

There is a reason clubs wait until the final day, and its not just because of shit planning. Selling clubs wait before they accept deals because they know there is a chance the buying club could get desperate and make a bigger bid towards the end of the window and sometimes the buying club will wait in the hope that the selling club accept a lower bid rather than keep a player that wants to leave. Its cat and mouse for a lot of the window.

i'm now just sick and tired of hearing players now want to leave, Drinkwater, Mahrez, Gray, if you want to leave then fine just shut up going on about it. we've given you players a great platform to perform and if you think you can do better somewhere else then just **** off. Leicester City as a football club will survive and move on

I agree with this, but I don't want them to fvck off if we aren't getting the right price.

I'd rather they sit in the reserves and sulk. Fed up with players thinking they're better than us. Not so much Gray, he knows he's going to a shitter club but he'll play more, which I understand.

But I don't like players wanting to play for hateful clubs like Chelsea rather than us, even if it does make logical sense. It just pisses me off.

Your faith in the re recruitment team is admirable. Keep believing.

On the flip side of this they would know the player wants the move and as the window progresses Chelsea would be coming back with a higher offer. The club should have immediately began planning then but instead heads were buried in the sand hoping other clubs would forget about our players and not bid. Its a completely amateur approach that's going to leave us struggling all season as 2 of our most creative players will be gone.

Someone upstairs is going to have some explaining to do.

They aren't stupid, just because they've picked a few duds doesn't mean they don't do the basics like creating a list of targets for each position.
