the fox Posted 2 September 2017 Posted 2 September 2017 Many people try to have a dig at riyad by calling him weak minded, but without the cold blooded performances vs Chelsea home, man city away, Watford away, Everton away, crystal palace away, Leicester would have not won the league! One of the most decisive performances from a POTY in the history of the PL!

I will make my case for riyad counting points game by game in the title winning season! Game Week 1: 4-2 win vs Sunderland (mahrez 2 goals)= contributing for the 3 points MOTM Game Week 2: 2-1 win vs west ham (mahrez got 1 goal)= contributing for the 3 points Game Week 3: A late mahrez equalizer vs spurs gets Leicester 1 point = directly got 1 point MOTM Game Week 5: Two mahrez assists brought the team to a 3-2 win after being down 0-2 = contributing to the 3 points MOTM Game week 6: 2-2 draw vs stoke (mahrez scoring and assisting)= contributing for 1 point Game week 9: 2-2 draw vs Southampton (mahrez assist)= contributing for 1 point Game week 10: 1-0 win vs crystal palace (the winning assist= contributing for the 3 points Game week 11: 3-2 win vs WBA (mahrez 2 goals)= contributing for the 3 points MOTM game week 13: 3-0 win vs Newcastle (assisting the ulloa goal)= contributing for the 3 points Game week 15: 3-0 win vs Swansea (mahrez hat-trick) = contributing to the 3 points MOTM game week 16: 2-1 win vs Chelsea (mahrez assisting the first goal and scoring the game winner) = contributing for the 3 points MOTM game week 17: 3-2 win vs Everton (mahrez 2 goals)= contributing for the 3 points MOTM game week 23: 3-0 win vs stoke (mahrez assist)= contributing for the 3 points Game week 24: 2-0 win vs Liverpool (mahrez assist)= contributing for the 3 points Game week 25 3-1 win vs man city (mahrez assist and goal)= contributing for the 3 points MOTM game week 27: 2-2 draw vs WBA (mahrez assist)= contributing for the 1 point Game week 28: 1-0 win vs Watford away (mahrez scores the game winner)= contributing for the 3 points MOTM game week 30: Win vs crystal palace away (mahrez winner) contributing for the 3 points MOTM game week 35: 4-0 win vs Swansea (mahrez goal) contributing for the 3 points He directly contributed to 49 points!!!! From 81 points, that's little bit more than 60% With 4 games (12 points) that he scored all the goals and 1 (3) points where he assisted the winning goal! Now try and convince me that kantè was the main reason we won the league! Contrary to many posters here, I'm more than willing to go the distance and take an hour from my time to research and provide stats and facts to prove my points instead of throwing my opinion out there! Yes but the reason he was able to do all that was because Kante was doing what he did in the middle. And a big reason why he wasn't doing it last season was because Kante wasn't there to do it anymore. I don't need to spend an hour on the internet to make this argument my season tickets does it for me.

Yeah, like I memorise every fixture with the most details and know by heart every goal and assist, that's a low blow from you! Going back to my point, kantè had a big part in why riyad preformed that good, but just go and watch....oh wait, you already have a season ticket so you probably remember! The deference is, last season's mahrez sat a lot deeper (like 15-20 yard) compared to the title winning season!
An Away Move Posted 2 September 2017 Posted 2 September 2017 Anyone hear that little bit on Mahrez on Radio 5 Live just now? He's expected to be fiercely criticised in Algeria for missing their game because of his deadline day goose chase. Any Algerian's here who keep up with the press back home to confirm?

I love Mahrez, however without Kante he can't do what he did with him, ie sitting those 20 yards further back. As Ranieri once said " I play 3 in the middle, Drinkwater with Kante either side"

People are free to their opinion, you think its kantè, I think it was a combination of all the players putting a shift in. Kantè was a beast, but in the end of the day, end-product is what keeps you going.

The team lost 3-1, it isn't like he is a defender or anything, mahrez would have not changed the result.

How soon until they start calling for a new manager (again)? I just hope our boys come home healthy from what is essentially a dead rubber game next...

Like I said, watched the first 20 minutes and then stopped, not interested in risking my health for THAT!
Clever Fox Posted 2 September 2017 Posted 2 September 2017 If he continues in the manner in which he's started the season he'll be worth 100 next Summer. He;s gotten stronger, much stronger than even a year ago. He;s now holding players off the Ball where he was getting pushed over last season. I'm delighted we've managed to keep him and who knows, with a good season we might convince him to stay and satisfy his desires here.
Farrington fox Posted 2 September 2017 Posted 2 September 2017 Wishful thinking about him satisfying his desires here, long term im afraid. But, you would hope that between now and Jan at least, he'll want to put himself in the shop window and play to his formidable best.
the fox Posted 2 September 2017 Posted 2 September 2017 I think riyad is too naive for his own good! He jumped in head first without thinking. He hit the concrete too many times. He needs to find a new, big name agent.
4everfox Posted 2 September 2017 Posted 2 September 2017 4 hours ago, the fox said: is that why players choose him as the POTY ahead of him! The way this forum handles kantè is one of the funniest things I have ever seen. If I remember correctly, he didn't want to come here, he forced Leicester to give him a release clause, which allowed other teams to bully the club and pretty much knocked 30-40% of his price, he jumped ship the first chance he got and left the team hobbling and In crucial need for a DM for about 6 month (which destroyed the season and almost got us relegated) every time kantè's name ia mentioned, people start drooling, "oh kantè, pls come back" "that beautiful little French man" "kante <3". If only they had the same love for their own players. And here enters Drinkwater! 5 years of service! Playing the championship and winning it, playing in the PL, fighting relegation, winning the league, playing in the champions league and fighting relegation again. And still gets slated (there are people who are thinking of booing him ) He underperformed last season but he could've been playing with an injury so, I will give him the benefit of the doubt. I will give him the same benefit of the doubt for him handing in a transfer request/not being "fit" because I don't know for sure. Plus, he didn't leave the club high and dry, there are replacements Same goes for riyad, getting the dog's abuse on the regular, some posters enjoying when he underperforms, downplaying his performances. But that's not enough, now they are trying to underplay his achievements, referring to the best performance in the title winning year as "a good season". But don't worry, his achievements (just like drinky's and other Leicester players) are written on stone, no one can erase that!. Those same people don't want him in the league because they will have eggs on their faces if he rips the league because he is playing with better players in a system that doesn't require him to play RWB. Kante is a more consistent, more effective and overall better footballer then Mahrez and it's silly to argue otherwise. The length of service between the two players is completely irrelevant to the point I was making.
foxile5 Posted 2 September 2017 Posted 2 September 2017 He's a great player, no denying that. But his wandering around the continent trying to find anybody to play for that isn't Leicester. The desperation. The obvious disdain for a club he sees as beneath him, despite the fact nobody really wants him. I don't see how any city fan can respect him or defend him. This is my club and he's insulted it. The past is the past and he did something wonderful for us. But that doesn't mean he can treat us as beneath him. It doesn't mean he can gambol around trying to force a move somewhere. He's paid a ****ing fortune, which he's more than happy to take, so he can act with some goddamn decorum. Even if he isn't a fan of the club, I am. I, and other fans, have a right to be pissed off. We pay a fortune to watch him sulk his way through an entire season and then this...... Also those ****ing Algerian fans that just repeatedly type his name. 'mahrezzzzzzz'. I'll be glad to see them gone.

I will use an NBA metaphor if you don't mind There are 2 types of stars/superstars in the NBA, one who gives you a high floor, the other who gives you a high ceiling! *floor meaning a player who can preform in any system, isn't effected by teammates and will get his no matter what* *ceiling is the ability that you can extract from putting said player in the ideal situation, logically, a ceiling is higher than the floor" Kantè is the high floor, he will beast no matter what, destroy people in his way, but he will only take you as far as he can. Just think of kantè is a big 500 horse power engine! Mahrez is the high ceiling, the higher the floor, the higher the ceiling (look at it like amartey/n'didi vs kantè),he won't work in any system, but if he is ticking, he is unplayable, mahrez is the NOS bottle, he won't do much with a fiat panda engine, but with the 409 chevy big block, boy, oh boy. It comes down to preference, if you are starting a team, than you pick kantè, but if you want to get to the next step, you add mahrez. You can't have a ceiling without a floor.

dayday Posted 2 September 2017 Posted 2 September 2017 So Mahrez tried to force a move to Man Utd , that worked out well
englebert Posted 2 September 2017 Posted 2 September 2017 According to the gutterpress he spent deadline day begging ManUtd to sign him.
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 2 September 2017 Posted 2 September 2017 Funnily enough I agree a lot with what he stated
