Mahrez starts, slimani dropped

Only watching this because of riyad, let's hope he preforms well and doesn't get Injured!

Any reason why Slim was dropped? Poor form? I don't recall him not starting a game since he joined us, they even played him while half injured...

Sorry Australia!

Shinji and Japan couldn't do you a favour tonight in Saudi Arabia, losing 1-0, which puts the Saudis through with Japan and leaves the Aussies with a nightmare double play-off.

Shinji was brought back into the team tonight for his 111th cap. Best moment was a neat flicked header that went just wide. He came off after 66 minutes and will no doubt be getting abusive messages from Mark Schwarzer, his old commuting pal.

Wow. Shinji has been left out of the Japan squad for the forthcoming friendlies. Could be boss halilhodzic just wants to give younger players a chance, as hasebe and Honda are also omitted. Chances are shinji will be back for the two friendlies in France in November against Brazil and Belgium, the venue presumably chosen for the benefit of the European based players who make up half the squad.

IMO this is good for both Shinji and Leicester. He always comes back tired after international duty. He has been our most improved player this season and really has been in great form not only with all round play, but now getting goals too. A more confident and well rested Shinji is surely both good for Leicester and Japan given they are already through to the finals.
