the messenger Posted 27 August 2017 Posted 27 August 2017 Rumoured all summer Vardy to Everton. DD to Chelsea. Mahrez to ? I would not be surprised to see all 3 go and who could blame them because our owners lack real ambition to match the spending power of the likes of Everton and others. Failure to land Gibson/Evans because we miles apart on the fee. Giving Ulloa a contract extension and letting go of Slimani WTF? Failure to look for a right back. Failure to land Sigurdsson and I suspect this is lack of a "named manager" and ambition. Midfield needs seriously strengthening not one of our midfielders can control a game for sustained periods especially against top 7 sides. Are problems are our unwillingness to pay the market price for players I can only see us ever being mid-table, but if Vardy DD and Mahrez go I think we will struggle bottom half.

If Vardy, DD and Mahrez go... We'll be relegated!
Monsell1976 Posted 27 August 2017 Posted 27 August 2017 To be fair they have invested a lot, just poor recruitment has preventing us becoming a stronger team, money wasted. The big window was the one after winning the league, the one chance to attract the better players, we are a small club paying over the odds for average players. At present maguire looks the only signing to improve us in the last 3 or 4 windows. I dread to think how much we have spent on a squad that cannot keep possession or pass the ball.
DatfoxesKid23 Posted 27 August 2017 Posted 27 August 2017 they are ambitious Shakespeare said we are after a defender. chill. Our main midfielder was injured and your questioning the owners ambition they took us to the prem when 8 years ago we'd be with the likes of cardiff and don't ask about we were before our owners http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_2/7923219.stm
Swarles Barkley Posted 27 August 2017 Posted 27 August 2017 You've missed a huge opportunity by not finishing the OP by "Dont shoot the messenger"
FoxInTheBirstallBox Posted 27 August 2017 Posted 27 August 2017 Saying not signing Evans and Gibson is a bad thing?! Why pay 30m for Gibson when we get harry for 12-17? Is he worth twice as much? No And Evans I'd love here but anything over 20m for someone his age on his wages is mad I'd rather our owners not go too mad spending money and we have a stable club
Libertine Posted 27 August 2017 Posted 27 August 2017 Nearly all of this is total guesswork and rumour. Chill out.
theessexfox Posted 27 August 2017 Posted 27 August 2017 ? vardy being linked with another club (totally unsubstantiated) definitely means they lack ambition.
evil jack Posted 27 August 2017 Posted 27 August 2017 Anyone that criticises the current owners clearly doesn't remember any of the previous ones.
stevelcfc Posted 27 August 2017 Posted 27 August 2017 I thought this level of implosive over-reaction was reserved only for pre-season, so credit where it is due.
splinterdream Posted 27 August 2017 Posted 27 August 2017 New stadium extension rumoured to be on its way, being up there with being biggest spenders having won us the league and given us CL football, is say they're ambitious
The Doctor Posted 27 August 2017 Posted 27 August 2017 Rumours mean nothing. Seem to remember posters on here a few years ago picking some random johnny in Bulgaria and getting us linked to him. Doesn't matter if Vardy has been linked to Everton; he's going nowhere. Paying stupid amounts for ok players isn't ambition, it's stupidity. Who cares if we didn't pay up for Gibson, we got the better of the two (Maguire) for cheaper. And far as I know Slimani is still here. In short, you're a tool.
davieG Posted 27 August 2017 Posted 27 August 2017 Everton with Sigurdsson, Rooney and Keene losing 2-0 to Chelsea. Sigurdsson preferred Everton over us because they have a much stronger PL pedigree nothing to do with money.
st albans fox Posted 27 August 2017 Posted 27 August 2017 Can we have this discussion on Friday please .......
Foxes1 Posted 27 August 2017 Posted 27 August 2017 Ambitious or not we still have to conform to FFP rules
LcFc_Smiv Posted 27 August 2017 Posted 27 August 2017 So your meltdown is largely based on numerous rumours?
EastAnglianFox Posted 27 August 2017 Posted 27 August 2017 Possibly a slight over reaction but I am sure in an interview after the title win they said that this was just the beginning and they would not be happy until we were a regular threat to the European places. Think they have been the best owners a club could ask for but I think they have certainly played it more safe than many thought since the title win.
Fox 4 Life Posted 27 August 2017 Posted 27 August 2017 Not really related but they definitely care, tops comment on Simpson's insta post

The trouble with the window after winning the league was,, we won the league. We were the best team in the country and to get better players in we would have had to offer them first team football which meant we would have had to get rid of players. I think we still have that same problem as most of these players are fans favourites and heroes to many. "Wes, you've just won the league, now eff off back to Nottingham" never going to happen. Who would you have got rid of?
