This guy is a serious legend...part of promotion, the great escape and the league winning side and also came up with the vital cross to keep us in the tie at Sevilla away. Very street smart footballer who knows the dark arts of the game. He's only lost 1 football game whilst starting with Kante which says a lot. Gutted to see him go. In a bracket above the likes of Neil Lennon for me. In the same bracket as Vardy, Wes, Kasper and Riyad - players who have been through it all with the fans. No way is he better than Lennon and not better than Silva although it remains to be seen how he adapts to the PL. DD Has been poor for nearly a year now but good luck to him. Still can't believe we fleeced Chelsea for 35mn. Great business.

The club doesn't have any choice. If the player says he's injured, he's injured. Besides, as you can see they all do it, so it's not something they find to be unusual.
SheppyFox Posted 3 September 2017 Posted 3 September 2017 Honestly the club must have been pretty happy to see Danny go for 35m.
Bryn Posted 3 September 2017 Posted 3 September 2017 You can pass a medical and still be injured. A club isn't going to not sign a player they're willing to spend £35m plus on just because they're out for two weeks with a thigh injury. The medical looks for any career-breaking injuries or health conditions that would jeopardise the investment long-term. In this day and age they have full body MRI scans and all sorts.
Legend_in_blue Posted 3 September 2017 Posted 3 September 2017 Too much sentimentality being shown towards DD on here. Fact of the matter is he almost left us up **** creek without a paddle.

Yeah it is a move that has surprised me on Chelseas part. The only logic I can see behind it is that they're preparing for the low % possession games they'll have in the champions league and want to replicate our counter stance against superior opposition? Maybe? who knows.
st albans fox Posted 3 September 2017 Posted 3 September 2017 They needed an English holding midfielder- guess they could have targeted Livermore !
Gerard Posted 3 September 2017 Posted 3 September 2017 £35m is great business, is it possible to believe that we could have got more or he'll ever be valued at more than that? He was brilliant for us in the title winning season and the first few months of last season. When you factor in his form for the last nine months whether that was because of his regression as a player or because it was hampered by an injury we're still unsure whether he'll ever be that same player again. We may possibly have got a player off the books who would prove not to be worth £90k a week or £35m. There is load of upside to selling him and very little downside. At best Chelsea get their money's worth out of this deal and at worst they've been had right over.
Bluetintedspecs Posted 3 September 2017 Posted 3 September 2017 Will definitely not boo, definitely won't spaff over him or chant his name as he couldn't wait to get away and too soon/ feel tainted by transfer request! Polite applause at best from me. Appreciate what he did majority of his time here and delighted with the fee and his potential upgrade replacement Silva when officially confirmed.

The only way we're going to be left short is if the Silva deal doesn't go through, which would be our fault for. Drinkwater walked, but we opened the door for him.

And it is still the club that chooses to announce the injury. Especially DD is a prome example woth regards to the rumours about him playing through injury most of last season. Club chose not to announce it. Not to mention the farcical example of Elvis Hammond (ankle) a few years back. DD being "injured" suited all parties. I wish people would stop pointing unwarranted fingers at DD as a result.
RODNEY FERNIO Posted 8 October 2017 Posted 8 October 2017 Rumour is that Kante has a pretty bad hamstring injury and is likely to be out until the new year. Big chance for Drinkwater to step up to the plate.
