I am glad we signed youri. .. even at 40m that will be better vslue than the money we wasted on musa slim silva etc Forgot the 3m we got Johnny Evans for then when they wanted 30m? Have some optimism
Analysethis Posted 8 July 2019 Posted 8 July 2019 When we got him on loan, the talk then was he was available for 40m. He played amazingly, the transfer market has gone bonkers and it seems we still get him for 40m. How?? Great deal by the club.
Rusko187 Posted 8 July 2019 Posted 8 July 2019 Had his ups and downs in the past but he's learnt from mistakes, if anything he doesn't get the credit deserved... Since he took this position, we've kicked on and on! Keep up the good work Rudders
lifted*fox Posted 8 July 2019 Posted 8 July 2019 tbh i think he had some howlers in the past but you gotta overlook some of that shit now considering some of the decent stuff he's pulled off as well i have taken him from my bad books and placed him tentatively into my good books. could ****ing go the other way any second though like
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 8 July 2019 Posted 8 July 2019 The guy's turned it round to be fair to him. Long may it continue.
StriderHiryu Posted 8 July 2019 Posted 8 July 2019 He might have been leaning on the job, but he is actually learning and getting better all the time. At the end of the day if you look at his Director of Football CV (starting in December 2014 when he was given that role), its going to read: - Survived in the Premier League after our first season up, bringing in key players in Huth and Albrighton . - Won the Premier League title. - Took a team to the Champions League Quarter Finals. - Part of a team that finished in the top 10 3 times out of 5, and only once in a relegation battle. And maybe even more impressive than all of that (as a DoF): - Successfully implemented a long-term strategy of transitioning an ageing squad to a vibrant youthful one, increasing the transfer value of said squad by something like 200%. - The same squad was the youngest in the league and finished 9th. Honestly when you see how some clubs are run, including Man United and Arsenal, there's an argument to say they should have considered Rudkin for a position. He's got an actual track record that means something. Obviously it's not all down to him, but at the end of the day as DoF the overall strategic plan and decision making to try and execute on it is your job. And he's doing quite a good job of it recently...
FoyleFox Posted 8 July 2019 Posted 8 July 2019 When you put it like that and include today's news, fair play to the bloke.

RutlanderFox Posted 9 July 2019 Posted 9 July 2019 Vichai and Top are clever businessmen. They would never hired this guy and stuck by him if they didn’t believe he was good at his job

And he's doing quite a good job of it recently... He's a youth team coach and has (had) no administration, legal nor commercial skills that warrant such a senior position and salary. But in fairness, none of us really know what the job spec is. Whatever it is, a conventional CV isn't going to fulfil.it. So he meets that criteria. Send me lucky generals, eh?...
MC Prussian Posted 9 July 2019 Posted 9 July 2019 Credit where credit is due, but let's also not forget that he's not the sole responsible in terms of transfer dealings. I do hope he has improved and that he's gotten better over the years and continues to leaern, recent transfers indicate a certain upward trend.
sylofox Posted 9 July 2019 Posted 9 July 2019 Had he not been on his holidays this could have been wrapped up weeks ago.
norwichfox Posted 9 July 2019 Posted 9 July 2019 Never know what he actually did, still don't....but whatever it is he's doing it right.

At the end of the day Youri's arrived only one day later than we ideally would have liked him to have done, and we are in a position where it's start of July and if we weren't to make any further signings, it wouldn't be a disaster. Not sure how many other teams can say that!
