In addition religion acts as a unifying force beyond national boundaries as well as binding us to and helping us understand our past. Those things are lacking in modern England.

I am willing to be the new messiah, that will transcend all physical boundaries, faiths and sex's:innocent:

I seemed to have been banned from General News thread for not being a fan of Charlie Kirk.  I marvel at the hypocrisy of the news outlets and social media in general whilst covering this shooting, fawning over the guy like he was some sage of his times.  Mirrored by Trump during his pathetic, partisan nation address, referencing a shooting in 2017 of a Republican member of congress and omitting any attacks on Democrats,  including the murder of Melissa Hartman just a few months ago.  I should perhaps make it clear that I am opposed to any political violence be it from the right or left, but the double standards are quite vomit inducing.

I thought you got banned because you were from Torquay

So not for "only be permitted for agreed extremely good cause"? Not against flipping the default position, but it should be the individual's choice.

Yeah, fair point tbh.

I guess it's just frustrating to see yet another local news report about yet another poor bugger who is on the verge of death (or actually passed on) because there simply aren't enough organs available.

Edit: perhaps sometime soon medical science might gift us the miracle of synthetic organs and this ethical dilemma will become much more redundant.

Some. Not all by any means. But that's what you get online or IRL.

You could speak to any number of fans face to face and you'll always get the good, the bad, and the stupid.

The new Champions League format is shit. People are wetting themselves because big clubs are playing eachother in meaningless games.

You can have too much of a good thing. They’ll all make it into the top 24 and none of this will

mean anything. There’s little to no jeopardy.

I don’t think this is unpopular.  Quite obviously just a money making exercise by UEFA.  Most fans I suspect would have preferred to have kept the initial group stage and then knockouts.

It’s the whole money making crap that’s ruined football. There are far too many games played now, let’s keep expanding the Champions League, the World Cup, and big preseason tours - but don’t let Tamworth get a reply away at Spurs because too many games…

It’s just not as enjoyable as it used to be. I’d love to see them go straight to the knock out phase. 2 legs, no seedlings winner takes all - less games, but far more exciting.

Completely agree, just killed any excitement or passion for Tuesday/Wednesday nights.

A league table where half of the teams never play each other is just wrong. I get it, but it's wrong and doesn't mean anything. At least in the old 4-team group format there was some jeopardy in pretty much every game.

The biggest grooming gang by numbers (and it’s not even close), is a certain church. And as someone who’d want to believe in their teachings, this is very painful to accept. No wonder so many folk are pointing over there (whether it be refugees or trans folk).

Can’t put my finger on why but I can’t help but love a good heist.

I'm watching Sneaky Pete on Netflix at the moment. It's about a conman and I'm loving it.

It's well made and all that but I had had the same thought about this.

Not quite sure what you're suggesting here. People talk about refugees and trans folks because they want to.... deflect attention away from sexual abuse in the Catholic Church?!

Just ask Admin about my "unpopular" views.

It seems if you don't sing off the same hymn sheet you're barred. Or is it all to do with cronyism?

Don't play the victim - there are lots of us with varying views that are banned.

Well, you could argue we're all victims then.

As far as I'm concerned it's more a question of ill-treatment as no specific reason of my ban has ever been given.

Whatever, it still doesn't warrant the silliness of the situation.

Surely, if you are going to be banned from one topic area why not ban us all from the site completely?

Much as I don't like being banned, and although I don't think it is entirely justified, I'm honest enough to imagine how it happens to me. I'm not going to cry victim over it because that just makes me another one in that increasing competition. I agree having no real explanation is frustrating, but it has been explained clearly elsewhere by @Finnegan - life is too short, and it isn't actually very important.
