purpleronnie Posted 5 October 2017 Posted 5 October 2017 I've always thought Leeds v Man Utd was bigger than Man Utd v Liverpool. I wish we had a true rivalry, some clubs have 2 or 3 rivals that beat any of our faux ones.

Hear Neville talk about Liverpool or Gerrard talk about Manchester and it’s like they’re not even from the same Country.

They're still genuine rivalries come matchday against all three. The next Leeds-Man United league match will be huge. As with any rivalry though, it changes through the decades depending on who's on top and who you're playing regularly - hence Liverpool being the big one for a larger proportion of United's support. Believe it was the same with us in the pre-Clough era in terms being the most hated East Mids side. A Forest fan I know reckons that was the case with his dad, who couldn't care less about Derby but despises us.

I mean faux as we have no true rival, i.e. to have a club that see's us as their main rival.

There aren't all that many that do though. I think I read a survey a few years back which showed two-thirds of clubs don't have a mutually-defined top rivalry. Tigers should switch to playing football. Would love a Leicester derby.
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 5 October 2017 Posted 5 October 2017 Interesting how your 'main' rival mainly depends what side of the City/County you grew up on.
Stadt Posted 5 October 2017 Posted 5 October 2017 Ideally some shit some shit Leicester team gets take over have billions invested and then go on to become one of the world's best then we can be bitter about being the true Leicester club despite yo-yoing between the top two divisions banging on about the past with out 5000-1 title win in 2016

Countryfox Posted 5 October 2017 Posted 5 October 2017 Whats all this faux malarky ? .... can't remember anyone shouting it during the 70's and 80's when being chased/chasing anyone up and down the High street ....

manders86 Posted 5 October 2017 Posted 5 October 2017 I'm currently sat in a bar in Spain watching England having the piss taken out of me for our season by a cov and forest fan.. I think they would love to have a rivalry with us still.. the forest fan thinks it's certain to happen next season!
RumbleFox Posted 5 October 2017 Posted 5 October 2017 For me personally, Derby. Born and bred in Burton in the early 80s so surrounded by Derby fans and growing up we had a really good rivalry with them during the 90s. Hated them so much but kinda miss it now. X
Wolfox Posted 6 October 2017 Posted 6 October 2017 We are Leicester City, nobody hates us, but we don’t care...

Relegation to the championship looks highly possible.
HesNotGudjonsonn2 Posted 6 October 2017 Posted 6 October 2017 We already have a rivalry with them. If you talk about our successful season and don’t mention them in anyway they soon bring them up. That suggest a rivalry to me.
dayday Posted 6 October 2017 Posted 6 October 2017 Coventry for me and strangely enough it's a shame when they went to pieces , as it started to get a bit spicy. Forest and Derby don't give a shit about us, whatever people think.
The Fox Covert Posted 6 October 2017 Posted 6 October 2017 Is there something called repressed envy? Forest say they don't care about us but most of them are deeply envious that City is the biggest club in the East Midlands and has been for quite a while. One of the regulars in my local supports ... yes, you got it! First time I met him after I moved back to the town I recognised his East Midland accent and, if it were Derby, I expect friendly banter would follow. I got none of that. After a while he started talking about Forest. Not about how shit they are now but their glory years of the late 70's. When this started I said I supported Leicester. Forest despise Leicester and call us bin-robbers, we just got lucky to win the league and the achievements of our club aren't a patch on King Brian. Did it stop him going on about bleddy Forest? Not a bit of it.

Ashley Posted 7 October 2017 Posted 7 October 2017 You're deluded to think Forest dont hate us Festa lot.
Spudulike Posted 7 October 2017 Posted 7 October 2017 I'm told that Peterborough aren't that keen on us either.
