Koke Posted 18 October 2017 Posted 18 October 2017 It's a good thing the CL clubs are dominating the airwaves cos I cannot handle another kicking from the usual cvnts in the media. Jamie Redknapp has already jumped on the narrative that we somehow expect to be top 4. This is the same garbage that has been spotted about Newcastle fans for years, that they have roo high expectations when they don't.

He has failed the club in so many areas its amazing he hasn't gone already. Boot him out then get a new manger in who can control and motivate these players. With regard to Shakey, yes he has been unlucky and his early record was good (although I believe the players played for themselves at the end of last season), but he needed to grow a pair quickly and he didn't. I thought he would ... I was wrong. We did win the league though
Wymsey Posted 18 October 2017 Posted 18 October 2017 He'll probably won't say anything about his views on it for a while perhaps, like Pearson.
Koke Posted 18 October 2017 Posted 18 October 2017 Name me 1 Leicester fan who said we are a top 6 club? Why do these cvnts keep strawmanning us. We have become the new Newcastle. Stoke midfielder Charlie Adam "I could not believe it. These owners just think they can do what they want. I think it's ridiculous. They are not a top-10 club. I know they won the league and have invested, but Leicester are in there with Stoke and West Ham, fighting in mid-table. They are not going to challenge for sixth place, they are a mid-table team." Ex-England defender Danny Mills "You have to be realistic, the league title was a complete anomaly, something that is never going to happen again. If they finish in the top 10 that should be a brilliant season by their standards. The owners, fans, everyone has got to understand that they can't compete with the top clubs, they are not at their level. For me, the players have to take some responsibility - it is the same squad that won the league not so long ago. Of those, the only player who has improved is N'Golo Kante, and he has moved on to Chelsea.'
Wdywd Posted 18 October 2017 Posted 18 October 2017 We're 18th Charlie mate, last time I checked that wasn't mid table
ScouseFox Posted 18 October 2017 Posted 18 October 2017 do feel a bit sorry for him but he was out of his depth. from champion as a coach and basically number 2 in the national team to jobless in just over a year. and not much of his downfall has really been his fault. poor chap.

More pathetic stuff from our fans about someone who has been a great servant to the club. Sad it didn't work out and he's been stitched up by Rudkin who I hope also goes. I'd have given him another couple of games, but the owners will have their ear to the ground at the club and things can't have been good for them to act so quickly. All the best Craig... now please god can we do some sodding research this time. Rudkin or no Rudkin he's got a very decent squad of players to choose from compared with many of our competitors. He's also had ample time from last season to now to play a formation comensurate with the players we've actually got now as opposed to those we had in the past. He's had years now to train them in how to play in different formations if that was an issue. All round he's had a very decent crop of proven players to work with and he's been a complete failure. With hindsight he should not perhaps been trusted with a job he'd had no experience of doing and that alone was not his fault. His appointment has taken us backwards.

st albans fox Posted 18 October 2017 Posted 18 October 2017 If we don’t get someone in by middle next week then it’s pretty clear that we really did dismiss him without a replacement sorted out. Why?? What actually happened that was so bad he needed to go before we started looking for a new manager ?? Something must have been said behind the scenes - no idea whether between players and dof or manager and recruitment team but clearly whatever has happened has made his position untenable. Of course if someone new is in within a week then it was preplanned
Foxxed Posted 18 October 2017 Posted 18 October 2017 It'd have kept him for a few more matches. We drew to West Brom who are realistically about our level with them scoring from a set piece after we dominated most of the match. I'm not sure Shakespeare would have done any better than scraping above the relegation zone, however. And after a relegation scrap I think our title winning reputation would be all but gone. Perhaps being on the market for a new manager now, instead of a possibly poor season with Shakespeare, would be the best for us. If Shakey doesn't stay I hope he goes to manage a division one or two team, where he can build his reputation and gain experience, the kind of experience that it was delusional to expect him to gain here at the highest level, with a team with a massive midfield hole and after a very poor end to last session.

Granted we can't deny Foxestalk can be a bit over-dramatic at times but the majority of us on here are well up in our place in the grand scheme of things. We never once finished in the top 6 under O'neills arrival to 2016. In fact we never were there once after Christmas bar a fluke under Taylor. We only finished in the top 6 of the championship 5 times since O Neill. Making out a sense of entitlement is well wide of the mark. We know that in 2015/16 we had some incredible luck with virtually every result going our way and the great collapse of English football's elite. We also know that under Pearson we had one of the most complete football structures in the country if not Europe obtaining improvement year in year out and are sad that its been dismantled. Should players like Vardy and Kasper who have won the league go to the media and tell Watford not to bother pushing for a Europa League or Champions League place. Man Utd won about 7 titles before 92/93 and 2 before the 50s. Should they be told to sling your hook and be happy with your lot. Leicester winning the league gave me enormous satisfaction as a Leicester supporter who only really has ever aspired to Premier league football. The fact that cretins like Glendenning, Mills and Adam have led this nonsense about us will only go and make it all the sweeter.

Chrysalis Posted 18 October 2017 Posted 18 October 2017 comments from adams and the other guy are idiotic. Clubs should always aim for the best placing possible, yet we see every season clubs hitting safety then going to the beach. Adams and co may think thats fine but I dont. Also we not mid table we 18th and our form wont put us anywhere near mid table.
foxfanazer Posted 18 October 2017 Posted 18 October 2017 That’s the whole point though Mills and Adam. We’re not competing in mid table, we’re in the relegation zone after one win in 8
Corky Posted 18 October 2017 Posted 18 October 2017 Why are Stoke fans wanting Mark Hughes out then? Why does it appear Slaven Bilic could lose his job in any given week at the moment? If they are mid-table clubs with realistic expectations, you need to ask why there appears to be discontent at those places as well.

Blimey, what were you drinking to come up with these figures ? The CL Q.F. finish reward amounted to £45M-ish( tv rights included ), our PL 12th place brought us an income of £70M ( tv rights included ). Even during the title winning season when never cashed up more than £130M, check your facts otherwise provide a source to backup your assertion.
stevelcfc Posted 18 October 2017 Posted 18 October 2017 Anyone with a telegraph account, able to get the Sam Wallace article they've just put up?
Wymsey Posted 18 October 2017 Posted 18 October 2017 Can see him considering going abroad for some reason. There's hardly many good opportunities in the football league at present.

The figures may be wrong and it was 5 rather than 6, but without the points gained from the time Shakespeare took over, there us every chance we would have been relegated at a cost far greater than the 3 million you asked us to ponder.

All our players arrived with fantastic reputations. It's down to the manager to get them working full stop. The Silva/Drinkwater/Mendy situation obviously isn't good but you can't justify starting Andy King in a midfield 2. Adjust to the situation. I really don't think the recruitment has been bad. For all we know, Shakespeare/the staff secured their targets but misjudged how they would fit into this shit arse system he is trying to play. So Rudkin would have done his job just fine, it was the coaches/managers/players underperforming. We will find out if we get a good, proven manager in. Laying all our problems at the feet of Rudkin or the owners is disgusting. Shakespeare was given a huge chance, with huge backing and blew it. There's truth in this. If CS had been savvy he'd have heeded Micky Adams' advice from back in 2002. Adams made a successful transition to manager (whether you think he was subsequently a good boss or not) by instructing players to call him 'gaffer' instead of 'Micky' and establishing new red lines. He worked hard to look the part. Shakespeare didn't. Coupled with the fact that his leadership depended on consensus, it deprived him of authority. Added to that, his 'consensus' was never, you have to suspect, with the expensive team of misfits we assembled from January 2016 onwards, but rather with those that had come before. So I agree that this accounts for his fate and for the failure of many players to be successfully integrated into the line-up. But your recruitment is judged by how well new players do when they come into the team - and they've not done well. Yes, part of that is because we could and should have done more to help their transition but a big part of it is also because some of these players weren't worth anything like the money we spent on them and, to an even greater extent, because the recruitment side of the club hadn't established a clear, unified sense of how to move forward with the footballing side. Their targets, as good as they might have been, simply weren't what we needed. I don't think our response to that can, for all their flaws, be 'but what Ranieri and Shakespeare wanted for the team was wrong, and the DoF / scouting network were the ones who were right.' Lots of players - good and bad - fail to perform at clubs, and that tends to dictate whether they're a success or not, not how much pedigree they had elsewhere. Hopefully, a handful of those lousy signings from the past couple of years may yet turn out to be shrewd buys, but right now they're still just lousy signings.
