Lost the ball a few times and misplaced passes...

We need an upgrade!

Just got an assist pal

Thought he looked tidy, kept things simple and a few nice touches, particularly for the goal. Clearly a leader in that side too.

I think he'll play a big part for us this season.

Thought he had an excellent game. Kept everything ticking over and a superb assist. Great positional play and his stats over 90 mins must be top notch.

Righto

Most over a couple of yards and hardly exciting,  at best a mediocre water carrier for others against a poor team. Still doesn't make up for the fact that he was a complete lightweight who was bamboozled by the pace of the Premiership. At 29 he's hardly going to develop much! Not too bad against pass and move sides like Arsenal but bloody hopeless against more physical sides. An expensive sub for lightweight special occasions. Could do with getting rid of him, Slimani and Iborra and accept we made huge mistakes and start again. This year's signings are potentially way ahead of that bunch most probably identified by the much lauded but over rated Walsh who's now weaved his hapless magic at Everton.

Spoken like a true football scout.

Or maybe not.

I want to dislike him as much as you do.  Do you have any facts backing up any of what you have just said?

Watched him most of tonight and all of his home games for us last year. Stats are stats. No matter how many successful passes he made tonight it hardly made him a world beater. Ronaldo for example probably had a less successful pass count statistically but his were more ambitious and potentially game changing. Stats are a guide but never a full story.

What do you want him to do? His role wasn't a creative one. Want him to venture out of his position against his manager's orders?
