Yes, Kante's the only player in that list who plays for one of the "Big 6".....presumably because those teams don't need to tackle much as they usually have possession already!
sdb Posted 14 December 2017 Posted 14 December 2017 Love Ndidi. He is class. Room for improvement too. Cant see us losing him. It'd take £60 mill plus in this market.
davieG Posted 14 December 2017 Posted 14 December 2017 So the number of tackles is not a great stat it's proportional more or less to the teams possession stats and shows you shouldn't judge individual players, good or bad one single stat the same as you shouldn't judge a team solely on its possession stat.
Guest Col city fan Posted 14 December 2017 Posted 14 December 2017 We must hide him. Wilf is an integral part of how we play and to our success. We can't let him go like we had to Kante. (From Col...the bloke who 'slates' our young stars...but actually doesn't if they are any good)
drofmor55 Posted 14 December 2017 Posted 14 December 2017 For his own development i think he needs to stay with us for at least another season..just hope we dont burn him out...give him a rest occasionally
Stadt Posted 14 December 2017 Posted 14 December 2017 In stats circles within football they use possession adjusted metrics for quantities like tackles and interceptions

Idrissa Gueye cost 7 million and should have been The Little French Guys replacement............. And that is why I dislike Steve Walsh the Original Snake On a positive note though, we got Wilf,

Actually whilst Wilf is incredible, he’s still not quite up to Kantes stats in the title year who averaged over 5 tackles a game and also was the leading interception maker in the league. He’s is definitely the next best thing though. Having a coach who is good at developing young players in charge will really help him. Though he had a patchy spell earlier in the season he’s overall been a consistent performer for us but has lots of room for improvement. His first touch and passing could be better as can his decision making. He often wins the ball back but gives it away or makes the wrong pass. But he’ll get better and when he does I suspect the elite European clubs will be after him. Got to say he comes across as a top lad too. Very humble, always happy for the team to score and always puts a shift in. Bring back the “hide Ndidi” threads!
RODNEY FERNIO Posted 14 December 2017 Posted 14 December 2017 He loves it here by the sound of it .... he'll be here for a few years I think. Probably got another 7 years until he hits his prime.
fazzyfox Posted 14 December 2017 Posted 14 December 2017 Chelsea are probably planning an illegal approach as we speak.
dynamark Posted 14 December 2017 Posted 14 December 2017 Stats and lies . Kante used to get away with all sorts in the tackle cos he was only little. Wilf went through a spell where he was getting penalised and cost us a few set pieces in dodgy positions. But lately he seems to be a bit more disciplined and not giving away those free kicks .Wins an awful lot in the air though which Kante is never going to reach.
southfox66 Posted 14 December 2017 Posted 14 December 2017 Under Puel he has made massive improvements in his passing and going further up the pitch, very impressed with his performance at Southampton.
Rogstanley Posted 14 December 2017 Posted 14 December 2017 Take nothing away from him, but with the number of people mentioning his age, it would be remiss if someone didn’t point out that he failed one of those age test things while trying to play for a Nigeria youth team, which would suggest he’s not actually 20. He’s probably 28 and at his peak. All downhill from here. No point any bigger clubs sending a scout. Move on chaps. Nothing to see here.
Blue ROI Posted 14 December 2017 Posted 14 December 2017 A gem of a signing. Could be bossing midfield for Man Utd/Real Madrid in a couple of years though.
