For match fixing when he was at levente iborra's team got paid a million pounds to let zargoza win a game that allowed them to stay up.

Prosecutors said the money that was allegedly given to Levante players was divided among the squad.

I actually remember that match, was big news among gamblers, had no idea Iborra was involved in it.

When you buy a company you have to produce a disclosure bundle (documents relating to any deals or issues that might be a problem) you then indemnify the buyer against any issues not on the bundle or any tax liabilities etc

Surely a club selling a player should do the same.... desclose any snags and then indemnify the buyer against any any undesclosed problems.

seriously  though 1 million pounds split between the squad of 30, that's £33,333 each. I know Levante isn't the richest club in Spain, but even 7 years ago that is a couple of weeks wages  for most of their starting 11, at most a months wages tax free. Imagine risking your entire career for a few weeks wages. Madness.

Do we actually do any homework on players? If this is true it’s another example of shoddy ness (is that a word?) in our recruitment dealings.

What do you mean 'if it's true'?

As for doing our homework... seriously. This happened seven years ago. How were the club supposed to know there would be a move to prosecute 7 months after we bought Iborra? It would seem Man U and Real Madrid are among what by now must be dozens of other shoddy recruitment departments.

Correct - that's when buying a business- it's known as due diligence . I'm unsure if the same applies in the case of an individual

It’s £780,000-ish in Sterling.

And there are 44 people charged.

So that’s £18,000.
