Morgan or Dragovic?

Morgan is fit and back. I thought he had a good match last night and as always got in a couple of great blocks but I feel the time has come for a changing of the guard.

 

Dragovic has been playing well defensively and building a good partnership with Maguire but more importantly he doesn't stop the ball when we are on attack. he gets the ball and moves it on to either Maguire, his advanced WB or a midfield player. Wes tends to be a game stopper. He dithers on the ball and takes a long time to make a pass or he panics and advances with the ball thinking he has Maguire's skills before having to lump it forward. He also frightens me when, like simpson, he gets in the attacking third and just stays there without the ball forgetting that his primary job is to defend. I've never seen Drago do that.

 

Defensively I have no criticism for the captain but our game has moved on and under Puel's more exciting football we need the ball to move more quickly.

 

So what do you think? Morgan for another year or is it the start of the year of the Dragon?

Morgan did nothing wrong last night, played well, but Dragovic just looks a more composed footballer with the ball at his feet.

We're evolving into a side who will control games more, and Dragovic is the type of player we need. It's also the reason we need a top class right back in the summer.

CP is not easy to read but I would not be in any way surprised if he lets Dragovic return to his club in the summer

Morgan did well for how long he's been out but I don't think he's got many more miles in his legs. Buy Dragovic in the summer and keep Morgan as backup for another season

If he does, then he needs placing in a institution of some sorts.

Love morgan to bits for what he's done for us. But he looks panicky against the top sides when on the ball. Dragovic is the future.

Dragovic for me. Morgan has a decent game unlike Simpson who didn’t look great

Dragovic has done nothing wrong for me this season. In fact against Man City he didn’t make any mistakes whereas Maguire made several!

 

That said Wes Morgan has had a great season too. He’s been consistent and has adapted well to Puel’s new way of playing. Being the club captain it’s probably wise to keep him onside too. 

 

Personally I’d play Drago simply because at 34 Wes isn’t getting any younger! I can see him still contributing for another two years but surely even he knows that he cannot expect to play every game now. 

 

Let’s see who starts against Stoke. Iborra started against Sheffield United but hasn’t been involved in the league recently.  Diabate has been heavily involved but did not feature at all last night. Puel might rotate the CB’s instead of having a preferred first choice.

This. Morgan is an absolute rock - the amount of last-ditch blocks he makes is incredible. Ideal for games where we're under the cosh.

Best left to the manager to make that decision....he'll have less loyalty to Wes than I have.....just don't let it drag out...

Maguire performs better with Morgan than he does with Drago.

 

I know this doesn’t answer the question, but I felt compelled to say it.

Drags the future Wes is the past. We've had the best of Wes now's the time to move on.

Morgan has played well this season and should stay in the team. He is a quality defender the best we have had for years.

Individually I’d have said Dragovic but Maguire looks much better alongside Morgan, maybe Morgan is more commanding and directing and Dragovic just does his own thing

Dragovic is the better option and we have to move on from the title winning season. I agree we do need a rb as well. Not convinced Maguire will be with us next season, can see man City coming in for him.
