I didn’t ask if you would take Benitez no,  where did he come from ?

Would love Rafa here. No chance of that happening. Personally I don’t rate Puel as a manager and not as DOF. Think he will be binned by October.

met with a southampton staffer tonight... his view, fwiw......Mr Puel = lacklustre twat

Hardly surprising from a Southampton fan though right?

Interesting to go back and read the thread from when Ranieri was appointed - generally there was a massive feeling of being underwhelmed and expecting him to last until Xmas - arguably Claude overperformed last season - we were in the bottom three when he came in, his star player clearly didn't want to be at the club and played that way for most of the season, he inherited a defence that was well past its sell by date but that no one had thought about updating before he arrived (he's already replaced two of them, one is OK if we can keep him and is trying to buy another LB) his Iberian midfielders blew hot and cold (one couldn't even play until Jan) and we faded badly when his one quality midfielder Wilf, got injured - and we finished 9th (higher than at any time under St Martin).

Careful what you wish for guys...........

Also entertaining that anyone would complain about boring football and then want Benitez in.

With selling players I assume we're going to wait until after our transfer window closes then ship people out. At least then we know where we are with the squad before we dump people

No I mean Ranieri - the lack of expectation and general 'we're better than that' mixed with Nige is God sentiments show that in a pre season no one has a clue what is coming - Puel finished 9th with a team that was on its way down if Shakey had stayed so personally I think it will be interesting to see what he can do now he can bring in some players.....

I've never agreed with your basic premise more.

I'm so ****ing bored of all the negativity. The owners have shown that if they don't have faith in the manager or that results are not good enough they will get rid of said manager. Loads of bitching and moaning and constantly trying to blame the manager for absolutely everything only serves to make this place something I want to avoid and the ground a toxic place to be, which helps nobody.

I'm dreading Wolves at home. You can picture it, the vitriol will be incredible.

Well if Puel moves to DOF - somebody else needs to fill the void. Rafa is a good example of someone who could perhaps do that without fans being subjected to a shit brand of Puel Ball.

I hope he comes out of the gates flying and proves me wrong in all honesty but I can't envisage that and can see him gone within 5 games. Less if he doesn't do some more business in the transfer window and shift some deadwood.

Absolutely spot on. Never known a pre season like it for negativity

I really don't think he has much say in shifting the players I am quite sure he wants out - it requires so many other factors.

Nevermind the wolves game. Can't wait for the team to be booed off when we're drawing 0-0 with Valencia at half time.

Even had a World Cup to distract everyone for a few weeks! Imagine if this had a been a free summer. Think I’d have deleted my account.

Of course but we all know it'll be his head on the block if we can't bring players in that we need.

This is the first close season I've really been on FT. I think last year I probably didn't log in again until the new season started.

The level of hysteria really has been a surprise. I've enjoyed having a laugh at some of it up until this point but it's actually becoming ridiculous now.

Are people still spouting this complete and utter myth?!

I’m not sure how many more times people need correcting.

As for the negativity, lack of expectation, it’s not without cause and to use abit of reverse psycology because it’s so low we can only be impressed/proved wrong, right?!

We also ended the 1999-2000 season under ‘St. Martin’ in 8th.

He won’t let the truth get in the way of his agenda.

Not demanding him to go, I have little faith in Puel but it's something I've felt for a while.

I fear though his future will depend on whether the club recruit a Mahrez replacement, if the club don't it will be Puels head on the block which would be unfair.
