Quick, intelligent, hungry and fearless just the sort of signing we used to make. He'll be a great addition for us and will only improve.

Very impressed. Always looking to make things happen. Loves one touch, fast football. More end product than other players in that position. Appears to have a footballing brain. Personally think he looks a more complete player than Gray already.

Diabate looks very promising so far. He doesn’t yet seem to be burdened by weight of expectation that I’ve seen in other City players recently. He looks direct, quick and has some tricks that premier defenders are not comfortable with.

I think we might have a bit of a Mahrez on our hands.

Similar age when we signed him. Raw but very confident.

The good thing with Diabate is he makes a difference in stale games and we're having too many of them.

I'm excited.

done nothing except score against Peterborough who are bobbins. Seriously no better than Lloyd Dyer. Definitely worse than Demarai Gray

I wanted to say this too, so we can start a “Hide Diabate” thread

Looking at this lad, if Bournemouth offer us £25m again for Gray in the summer then we've got to snap their hands off - I honestly believe we've found a much better player here.

Good move so who do we replace Gray with.

I fear your cold turkey is going to be a rough one.

This is going to be his problem and I fear it may piss him off.

People compairing him to Mahrez all the time wont help him.

Someone who knows the meaning of passing a football and not shooting from 30 yards when there are better options available :P

Our fans spent ages hailing "the new Kanté", and, for a while, people all thought that Mendy might fit the bill, then Amartey in midfield (I know, right?) then Ndidi, who has great attributes but ain't Kanté.

Well, similarly, we are going to size every winger as a replacement for Mahrez. We did it for Gray, and we are now doing it to Diabate.

Judge them on their own merits.

FWIW, I'm really encouraged by Diabate. He's got skills, he can cross well and he changes games.

I think Puel should try and get him involved more.

You know what I like about Diabate?  he's always moving, never stops, always wants the ball, must be a nightmare for defenders

Totally agree, his off the ball movement is excellent, good signing imo

Completely agree. Diabate makes better decisions and he's a lot more selfless.

I want to see a bit more of him really but I've liked what little I've seen.

Looks like he's got natural talent and is one of those players that could become unreal, but at the same time might fall in to obscurity. His refusal to ever use his right foot has already cost him a few half chances that would have put him in to hero status already. Excited to see how he does for us, bargain so far.

Liked him from day one. looks fast, agile, makes the right pass 95% of the time and a team player with a calm personality on the pitch and looks like our future.
Now for my only criticism of him. he just looks too passive for the little we have seen of him. Hopefully it's just him not trying to do "too much" and mess up.

And please don't compare him to Riyad. Even Mahrez can't live up to the crazy high standard that many set for him on this forum.

He's going to be better than Gray, that much is obvious

I don't think their skill set is that far apart, so far his determination and desire stand him apart.
