He’s been great for us, that doesn’t need recapping or repeating, it’s an obvious fact :) I will be very frustrated with Puel if he’s in our starting 11 next year though.

Here frigging here.  He has for sure a place in our history for life, not a place in the first 11 for life.

He has been a fantastic servant and leader for the team and club but he is in the twilight of his career and he needs to be managed so as not to do too much and so not to get injured as much. It would be good to see him mentor younger defenders to get the best out of them and he does need to know when to call it a day.

Wes luckily for us got caught up in a poor Nottingham Forest set up where he wasn't being pushed and allowed to plod along and actually was going nowhere. Credit to Nigel Pearson for getting him in and giving him the self discipline he much needed to up his game and realise his potential. Credit also to Wes for buying in to that and becoming a Premier League player and title winner at that.

That moment in 15/16 was his pinnacle unfortunately he has declined since in my opinion.

Next year he will only be back up and I would probably make Harry Maguire club captain. I would expect that wouldn't suit Wes, but I would make him 4th choice CB next year, probably loaning out for a bit. I could even see him returning to Forest in the summer to try and have one last horah before retiring.

Did I say they were?

No, you didn't. Some seems to think it is the case though and I used your post to pass the message.

He wasn't very good until he played next to Huth (any news on him?). Although I have much respect for our captain i'd like to see Drago in there as of next season. That's not a slate on what he's done for us, he's been a fantastic captain but he's at the end of his career now and I thought Drago was better when he was in.

We were 8th in the league with him playing before his injury, continued to be 8th whilst he was out. He's made no more mistakes this year than Maguire.

Do we need a long term replacement, yes. But people acting like there has been some huge drop off in his form or ability are wrong IMO.

This place makes me laugh, Kasper, Wes, Chilwell, Simpson all not good enough now apparently. 4 out of the back 5 and yet we're still 8th.

I am not looking at or place in the league, I’m looking at his performance.  He’s just too slow and his reaction time is even worse.  Not all plays require those traits, but when they do he’s unfortunately not up to it anymore.

Ive seen no massive drop off in him at all, all I see is a load of people writing him off as they have done before he even arrived.

Any team dip in form, fingers pointed at him and his captaincy as being the problem year after year.

There have been calls to replace him constantly for years, with people desperate to write him off.

Morgan has been much better this season than last season where he had a bit of a shocker. I think it's other defenders and a certain goalkeeper around him making more mistakes this season, but the desire to see a lot of changes at the back (justified) means Morgan still carries the same level of stick. I'd not be bothered to see every single defender and goalkeepers replaced in the summer, bar Maguire. It's the area that needs the most surgery for Puel. Morgan though is still a steady player, the urgency to get rid of him is slightly harsh but the old guard do need moving on eventually.

Totally agree, not sure he's even got any worse; its more to do with what's around him... i'd still keep him past the summer as he's the best man to still captain this side on and off the pitch.

I think he's played well this season to be honest. I don't get people's issue with him.

Yeah he makes the odd mistake. but so does every defender. If no defender ever made a mistake, every match would finish 0-0.

Big Wes edged MOM today over our Kasper. His leadership today was also outstanding. Big Wes has overtaken Steve Walsh in my eyes as the greatest centre back in the history of our beautiful football club.

I think he's showed plenty this year to be retained as a backup CB next.  He would provide needed continuity and professionalism as we likely make a number of personnel changes.  But I'm not sure that's a transition you can easily make with your longtime captain.  Agree that Harry should be given the armband going forward in any case.
