This needs sorting and quick most likely his agent is trying to get the best deal for him and himself. I have just finished reading the Alan Young book and in it he states agents are the scourge of football and he never had one, he also states if he was playing now he wouldn't have one. He would want to sit face to face with the people employing him and discuss it with them.

Depends whether our arguing over his ‘loyalty bonus’ has led to his team employing a top legal person to peruse the contract and they have found something ..........  that wouldn’t be rudkin’s fault though - he isn’t a lawyer (unless he declined legal advice at the time).

Club didn't have a lawyer at the time of the contract being signed. She started in December. Reason they employed one was because of things like this.

Clauses in contracts aren't standard.

So what have I missed? Is it alleged Mahrez is the one holding up the move over a loyalty bonus?

all speculation and no proof, just people overreacting as per.

Riyad has a voice (albeit a whiny one) and can tell his wanky ‘agent’ what he wants him to do for him. The agent is being paid by Mahrez, if all this is correct then he’s begging for the bonus too. Unless Riyad is that weak-willed which I doubt very much.

This.

No agent who would like to remain employed in the long-term would be doing anything without the player's knowledge and/or approval, however 'under the radar' that approval is. If Mahrez didn't want this to be an issue standing in the way of his move to Man City, it wouldn't be an issue. If what's being reported is accurate, I'd guess that for whatever reason they're confident that either Leicester's board will cave (seems unlikely at this point, it's not like we need the money), or that Man City will feel he's worth paying the extra money (also seems unlikely - he's going to be squad rotation at best, and there are other options in that price bracket).

I couldn't give a damn whether he gets it or not but it's just sour grapes anyone who begrudges him it.

He won us a Premier League title and got us to a Champions League QF and the £100m+ that earned the club. We're now going to sell him for a £74.5m profit so even if he has his £7.5m that's still £67m all whilst taking out about £15m in wages in 4.5 years.

He's undoubtedly the best buy in the club's history and if he walks away with a few million quid then he deserves it.

It sticks in the craw but Gerard is right.  Get him moved, get the money, spend big on a similar.

He’s like that old pair of boxers that have seen you through some good times, but no matter how often you attempt to bin them they just keep turning up in your sock draw. Or is that just me?

This whole saga is just pants now. Get him gone and let’s move on.

We should just tell him, he needs to relinquish his claim on a loyalty bonus by the middle of july otherwise we withdraw from negotiations and he stays until January atleast. You can throw all the tantrums you want but the clock is ticking.

We won't need to, I've little doubt Man City will have that conversation with him.

They're back for pre season training on the 9th July and they won't want Mahrez rocking up a couple of weeks later because he's arguing about money with Leicester. One of the reasons why Mahrez is an attractive buy is he's not been to the World Cup and they'll want him firing and holding the fort at the start of the season whilst their World Cup players aren't up to speed yet and are behind in pre season training.

They've probably had a word with Mahrez and Joorabchian that they want him signed up by the middle of next week at the very latest otherwise the deal might be in jeopardy. I can't imagine Guardiola is prepared to let this saga to go past then, he'll want it sorted out very soon one way or the other.

I think he changed his name for the duration of the World Cup finals in honour of Putin.

Sorry AF but I cannot believe that we weren’t getting all contracts etc checked by a both an employment and commercial lawyer.

they don’t need to be in our employment - infact sometimes when things go wrong claims against the insurance are easier

Of course we had lawyers draw up the contract, not doing that would be like asking the builders to do the plumbing in the stadium extension.

You would think so wouldn't you, when he signed the contract we didn't have an in house lawyer working for us though.

I'm not saying there's foul play afoot however you do wonder if there is loose wording in the clause which means he may be due to compensation in the circumstances. I know another incident was caused that summer due to a similar issue.
