They are excused from this week’s training before Claude Puel’s squad head to a training camp in France next week.”
simFox Posted 2 July 2018 Posted 2 July 2018 It's almost unfortunate that he might still be here next season. Just want to see the back of this deal and move on. Much prefer to see a man play in his position that really wants to be here. Thanks Mahrez, it's been great having you.
volpeazzurro Posted 3 July 2018 Posted 3 July 2018 (edited) You get the sense that Man City fans have had enough of hearing about Marhez before he's even arrived. To us he may be a big fish in a little pond but to them, with their impressive line up, he must come over at times as a pretentious greedy little shit! The fact is he'll have to work a lot harder for Pep than he did here including getting to training on time. If he doesn't hit the ground running I can see their fans quickly turning on him. Ill advised at times, it really didn't have to be this way, the sooner this saga is over and he's gone, the better for all parties concerned. Edited 3 July 2018 by volpeazzurro 2 1

Was he ever well advised (apart from agreeing to come here in the first place?)

His potential exit is still a matter for comment - however the current discussion is rather akin to the crowds of people who encamp around someone's home in anticipation of their demise. We all should know what to do about Mahrez - go away and get on with something constructive (which is what I'll be doing as soon as I finish this). I think it's amusing that he and his coterie have succeeded in reducing his popularity with those fans who well-nigh worshipped him, to a 'can't be arsed about him' response. Had he had sound advice he would have left Leicester two seasons ago, along with Kante, with the same high reputation the latter still has here. I believed that his intention was to play for City through the Champion's League campaign. I got that wrong - his intention was to play for himself in that competition and merely appear for City in all their other endeavours. I know I'm not being entirely accurate in my assessment of his week-to-week performances, yet this is what watching a player of immense capability waste everyone's time by his diffidence and narcissism has engendered - an almost complete erosion of the massive regard we all held for him. Now he is an unsightly excrescence on City's otherwise unblemished appearance. What would I do? Continue to pay his salary and fix a transfer fee concomitant with his potential worth - assessed on his playing to his optimum capabilities. I'd give him garden leave and instruct him not to trespass on any of LCFC's property. I'd instruct a complete moratorium of comment on him from any City employees. If broached about any comments he might have made I would respond with a "no comment". Agreed
Katy Posted 3 July 2018 Posted 3 July 2018 (edited) SSN saying he’s having a medical this week....we’ve accepted a bid of 69m Edited 3 July 2018 by Katy
Scotch Posted 3 July 2018 Posted 3 July 2018 (edited) SSN saying he's expected for a medical in the next few days with a fee of around £60m. Say he'll be a city player by Friday. Edited 3 July 2018 by Foxy_Bear
The Doctor Posted 3 July 2018 Posted 3 July 2018 So since SSN are only a vehicle for driving betting on SkyBet these days, there's still **** all new.
LCFC FOX Posted 3 July 2018 Posted 3 July 2018 60mil? I hope that at least includes Patrick Roberts as well?

They're back for pre season training on the 9th July and they won't want Mahrez rocking up a couple of weeks later because he's arguing about money with Leicester. One of the reasons why Mahrez is an attractive buy is he's not been to the World Cup and they'll want him firing and holding the fort at the start of the season whilst their World Cup players aren't up to speed yet and are behind in pre season training. They've probably had a word with Mahrez and Joorabchian that they want him signed up by the middle of next week at the very latest otherwise the deal might be in jeopardy. I can't imagine Guardiola is prepared to let this saga to go past then, he'll want it sorted out very soon one way or the other. Had he moved to City in the January window I would understand why LCFC would not pay his contractual bonuses, but he stayed on. LCFC have held him to his contract and he stayed

Naz Posted 3 July 2018 Posted 3 July 2018 Both Leicester and Manchester City need to get on with team building before pre-season is underway so I hope this happens, although we have been in this position for a long time so a little sceptical now about media reports
